Yep it’s a smart move and technically the nice part is since their writing it in erc20 standard they are portable so if ethereum was to take to long or become an issue they have portability to transition to another network that supports the same erc20 vm

It is in their roadmap and they are working on it. The best part about ethereum is that it is constantly being updated and has strong backing it is wise to built on top of it for now. Also for vanig i don't think they would need something more than what Ethereum is offering.

the blockchain solves genuine problems. Especially in applications that demand sharing of data, security, persistency and availability. I think the biggest problem with ecommerce that the blockchain is solving is the sharing of data.

That is one of it. But judging from the plans of vanig, they are also looking at solving the problem of high cost of items due to middle men's influence on price. I feel that's a major thing to look at too.

I thought that true Casper would not arrive until the second half of 2019 at the earlies, other scaling coming earlier like plasma. Hopefully it is sooner, what ever the outcome there are some great solutions on the horizon for both ethereum and therefore Vanig.

I have to read in a thread about e-commerce about the fact that ETH switches to PoS. I did not know that yet.
