I've been away from my poloniex account for a while, but today I noticed that it says I must provide names and national locations in order to make deposits and withdrawals, why is this, and how do I opt out of that?

They made the changes a few weeks ago to comply with regulations as they are in the US.  They did so with very little advance notice which pissed off many people.  There are 3 levels of verification and the more info you give them the higher your daily withdrawal limits are.  You described level 1, the lowest level, providing your name and country.  There is no way of opting out AFAIK.

So that means funds would be held hostage unless you divulge info you don't want to release?   The opt out option should be if you don't want to comply you withdraw your funds and close the account.

Thank you.

I hope you made a DigitalNote update, xdn-team tried to contact Poloniex several times about urgency of the deposits update. If your daemons are not updated, you can have lots of issues with an old side blockchains. Please, update your DarkNote XDN to DigitalNote XDN, including name, if you didn`t.
https://github.com/xdn-project/digitalnote

You should delete and old blockchain file and resync  with network after update.

Also in near release we will introduce simplewallet GUI deposits, so you can make deposits service around XDN based on  POLO and XDN blockchain.

Thank you.

I heard a rumor poloniex requires ID verification to withdraw, but when I looked into the profile page, it has 3 levels of verifications. ID is only required for the highest withdrawal limit. Or it's just US folks that are required verification to withdraw (any amount) ?

So poloniex takes the fee from the amount someone wants to withdraw too. Roll Eyes Man this brought me in trouble since i asked poloniex to send a certain amount of my bitcoins but what was sent was less. Leading to problems with the receiver.

Why is it that in the bitcoin area there is a habit of taking the fee of the amount to be withdrawn? I mean you ever went to an ATM, asked it to get $100 in cash but instead you got $99 because they took a fee from it Roll Eyes

This is annoying and its not only poloniex. When i ask to get a certain amount why does exchanges think i would be happy to receive that amount minus a fee?

Sure, poloniex seems to write that somewhere. But when i ask for a certain amount then i await that amount. If i take too much and no space for fee is left then i would await a warning.

This behaviour of exchanges in bitcoin area is annoying. /Rant end

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

To make a little more profit with side effects of encouraging  people to keep coins with them and discourage using them as a coin mixer plus less transaction lowers resource to run wallet

Um... did you actually read my post? You sound like someone explaining why they take a fee at all. That was not the question at all.

If you would have had a signature i would have asked you if you bought that account recently. Your broken english is a lot less than i would await from a member with so many posts. And maybe you couldnt understand what i wrote because of that? Only thinking...

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

Why is ETH not available for margin trading? It has nice volume and surely will keep it having. Please allow MT for Ethereum ASAP!

There is solid liquidity. There are actually no reasons not to allow MT on the pair. I guess @busoni doesn't want to do it because he's got some coins which he's gonna dump before bears do. Ether will go down much quicker if MT is available.
