Darkcoin is #3 as far as volume for last 24 hours, only behind BTC and LTC. Watchout! DRK could take over LTC spot very quickly!

It is Darkcoin rightful place. LTC became ASIC b!tch and its going down .

LTC is still a functional coin... What makes it unusable? Pretty sure there are a bunch of ASICs hashing BTC...

Miners live in their own cryptobubble... just because they can't mine a coin as well "it's dead"... lol. We all know that BTC *really* died when ASICs came onboard, lol.

Then again, LTC "sold" itself as the solution to the |ASIC problem" and failed. So, in a sense, it fails to deliver on it's core promise.

DRK, on the other hand, makes no promise for long-term ASIC resistance (as litecoin devs admitted, anything GPU mineable is ASIC-able) neither is ASIC immunity its main selling point.

What is the status on GPU mining of this coin? Anybody tried either working on GPU miner or at least examined the feasibility of creating one?

Yes, back in February a bounty was issued to develop one, and here it is: https://github.com/prettyhatemachine/sph-sgminer

There has been a GPU miner for a couple months now.  Check the first page of this thread.

thanks but that is pretty vague.. it seems like a take the dev's word for it sort of thing..
as in did the dev on this or other coins simply make a mistake or did they do something on purpose.. there is no way to know.
unless your a mouthy fanboy bagholder of course.. they happen to have all the facts  Roll Eyes

and guys gimme a break with the troll name calling childish crap this is not high school
this is a financial industry with big money involved.. your a dipshit moron if you don't ask questions as much as you can PERIOD .

the question is someone trolling by definition to cause chaos or are they just talking about coins ?
one is trolling and the other is not.. is this clear yet or do i have to say it again a few more million times ?
ps: that was rhetorical, i know damn well i will explaining what a troll is again and again and again..

and by the way ignore whom ever you like it does not CHANGE anything..
If LOTS of people out there are concerned about this coins start up then are you going to ignore them all to vanquish them evil "nourishing" Trolls ?

sadly we are engulfed in corruption ..open your eyes.
every time anything bad pops up we hear blah blah ignore the trolls by bag holders.. gimme a break with that crap already.
I dont mind your questions. I was unsure of your motives, as were others I suspect, when you asked a question about a forum post you admitted to not reading. To me that was odd and a little trollish.

I think the proof is in the pudding. If there were massive singular holders this would have been dumped all the way down by now. I say this as a holder in the top 80 rich list for DRK. I bought DRK on c-cex in late feb - not even right in the beginning - and I have never mined. The truth is early miners were selling big quantities on the first exchanges and off the books. The coin has been on exchanges for months now; it has been changing hands. If you want to call a coin out for unfair distribution by your logic, try BTC. There were massive BTC bags built up by early miners and yet it's at $500. I'm not sweating DRK's distribution.

EDIT: And I suggest you don't throw around names like "mouthy fanboy bagholder" if you want to be treated with respect. It's potentially just as offensive as being called a troll. Don't retaliate.

Im official the worst day trader haha.  Lost 4 DRK trying to sell and buy back.

4 DRK? I'm at a couple thousand lost right now. Think I will never trade DRK again, I have nothing but terrible luck with it. This market just doesn't make any sense to me and seems to operate against all logic.

No news - price doubles. RC2 testing - price drops 30%. I'll just hold what I have left and forget trying to make more from trading it.

edit : market aside DRK is a great coin and really the only one I care to deal with long term, but F day trading it.

Sorry, but I told you...

The rise was clearly inevitable... and trying to beat the rise of any asset [darkcoin in this case] in a bull-trend is foolish,

My advice - AS HARD AS IT IS TO DO NOTHING, until Darkcoin plateaus [imho by year-end in the hundreds-of-millions of dollars], buckle-up and enjoy the view.

You do realize that it has tested 500k twice and that it currently sits under 400k, right?

I suggested something to Evan last night...  What if you put the blockchain on them to serve up?  What if wallets don't have to hold 17 gigs of blockchain, but are all lightweight due to the MasterNodes serving up this information when needed?

TanteStefana - THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST IDEAS I'VE HEARD RECENTLY.
And connecting such masternods to a small Android/ios thin wallet would be pure AWESOME.

I would like to draw Evan's and community's attention to MaidSafe as a strong competitor.

In short they plan to offer p2p services like storage, web-serving, etc. etc. which was also an idea for masternodes. But here it is provided by every peer, not only selected nodes.

a. You do realize that if i'm right about the valuation by year-end, what you call 'tests' will not even be seen on the chart with a naked eye?

b. the 'tested 500k twice' is a chartistic's approach (which i am willing to accept in mature markets with trading fees much lower than what crypto-exchanges charge).

My claim above came from a more fundamental approach of the situation, including:
   1) expecting big demand for anonymity
   2) expecting small supply of coins due to closed masternodes
   3) expecting a flood of miners/users due to Asic in LTC, DOGE, etc.

just my 2cents for what I think they are worth...  Smiley

Geepers, I feel so burned out from all the excitement these past couple of days!  I'm so glad the price dropped even so I lost coin.  It was just too much excitement for me, LOL

Anybody else feel that way?  Or am I just old?  LOL

Haha, it's normal, price should not raise too quick, it would be bad for the coin, it must set new floors slowly.

Soon or later, during the next days it will go up again, expect something around 0.008-0.01, and set a new floor at around 0.006.

Guys, maybe we can get back to work with the marketing. Evan is doing his part we should do ours. This is a reply from TheCryptoDepot to my communication to them yesterday. I am setting a goal for myself of contacting at least 5 merchants a day.  Is there official communication in English that could be sent to the Chinese exchanges I can get it translated really quick, my sisters boyfriend lived in China for several years and is willing to help.

to me
Hello,

Thank you for your email regarding adding DarkCoin to our accepted coins
list.  We are not opposed to adding a digital currency that has good
backing and a good community behind it. That being said, before adding we
want to make sure our service would actually be used by those who hold
DarkCoins
.

Thank you,

- The Crypto Depot Support Team

You can make a poll (e.g. "Will you use thecryptodepot.com service with your Darkcoins" Yes or No)  and send the result and the link to them, if there is a sufficient number of respondents  + the current market cap and position.

Good idea. In the meantime Merchants contacted today:

  • chronicstar.net
  • bitcoinseedstore.com
  • foreverpleasure.com
  • bitcoinbazaar.co.uk
  • allthingsluxury.biz
  • bitezze.com

If we all do this we can create awareness really quick.

I would like to help you with this, and I think we should all put some time into this, could we use IRC to coordinate it?

We could prepare some templates if you don't have already, separate merchants by type of service/product they offer, share a google document with the list ...

And again, I think a IRC channel (#darkcoin-marketing maybe?) would be perfect to coordinate this. Who else can spend 10 minutes a day helping here?
