Wow, really good reading through this thread. Never expected adoption to start happening this fast, DarkSend isn't even released yet! Buy walls on Poloniex are pretty huge too 10 BTC at .0035 and 16 at .00326. Me and a buddy going to put in another £100 each (about .66 BTC total) later or tomorrow. I know it's not much, but it is to us.
And we're not selling/using until minimum of a year.

No offence but if you read a guide and still can't do it you shouldn't be doing it! Leave it up to the pros or wait for a server image to come out!

as i understand should be a lot of people who cant make a masternode so that means they are left out.Is it that hard to make a youtube video how to set up a masternode?Or is  the darkcoin only for tech people ?

thanks but that is pretty vague.. it seems like a take the dev's word for it sort of thing..
as in did the dev on this or other coins simply make a mistake or did they do something on purpose.. there is no way to know.

Yes Spoetnik, there is evil everywhere.  You can believe the Developer who has been working his ass off these past 3 months, or you can come up with conspiracy theories until the cows come home.  You keep bringing this up = trolling to me.  You got everyone's opinions.  What is it you want?  To me, even if Evan were a crook, it doesn't even matter anymore.  The coins are long sold off, a better outcome than if only miners got access to coins, in my opinion.  It's a mute point, and doesn't matter anymore.

I suggested something to Evan last night...  What if you put the blockchain on them to serve up?  What if wallets don't have to hold 17 gigs of blockchain, but are all lightweight due to the MasterNodes serving up this information when needed?

And connecting such masternods to a small Android/ios thin wallet would be pure AWESOME.

They are not left out, but if they can't understand that simple guide, the probability to put their 1000 DRK at risk is higher. I think that a minimum of knowledge is required to setup and protect a masternode.

In short they plan to offer p2p services like storage, web-serving, etc. etc. which was also an idea for masternodes. But here it is provided by every peer, not only selected nodes.

That's the brilliance of MasterNodes, regular wallet holders won't have to keep a bulky blockchain on their computer (or webpages, or messages, etc...) only Masternodes.  And there are going to be enough MasterNodes to keep the whole system decentralized and secure.

I don't think we have anything to worry about.  The foundation has been set for the tallest building in the world.

I don't think they would need to hold the whole blockchain. Users only give as much space as acceptable for them. Haven't scrutinized that though, needs more study.

Also, there are a lot implemented already which is only at the stage of idea in DRK.

There is no good reason why the private key needs to be stored on a masternode.

In an ideal setup, you would just broadcast a signed message "Authorizing 123.123.123.123 as masternode with input 1bcd1c22a3687e1ec1ea6ce61d3a43fae3581da9305d64fda298bbb66d1691ec expires 1398622305"

In this case 123.123.123.123 would be your masternode, but you don't need to have the private keys on that node. The signed message proves you are authorizing that IP to be the masternode for that input.
