Release date: 11PM EST, 18th January 2014 / No premine

Specifications

  • Super secure hashing algorithm: 11 rounds of scientific hashing functions (blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein, luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd, echo)
  • Block reward is controlled by: 2222222/(((Difficulty+2600)/9)^2)
  • CPU/GPU mining
  • Block generation: 2.5 minutes
  • Difficulty Retargets using Dark Gravity Wave
  • Est. ~22M Max Coins
  • Superior Transaction Anonymity using DarkSend: Release Candidate 1 on MainNet

Coin Information
Darkcoin is the first privacy-centric cryptographic currency with anonymous block transactions powered by DarkSend. We currently have a fully functional public Release Candidate for DarkSend, see Downloads below.

Darkcoin now has a new kind of hybrid reward system similar to POW with POS.  Those who run masternodes being rewarded via 10% of the mining rewards.  Masternodes must put up collateral to run, and yet are paid for the work they perform.

Darkcoin uses a new chained hashing algorithm approach, with many new scientific hashing algorithms for the proof-of-work. This is so that the processing distribution is fair and coins will be distributed in much the same way Bitcoins were originally. ASICs will be much more difficult to make for these algorithms and should take years.

Darkcoin is the coin that introduced Dark Gravity Wave (DGW) to adjust the difficulty and protect the network from large fluctuations in the difficulty.

With chained hashing, high end CPUs give an average return similar to that of GPUs. Another side effect of the algorithm is GPUs run at about 30% less wattage than scrypt and 30-50% cooler.

Looks shakey at best. Looks a little like BC when it shot up and then right back down.

Get it through your little ADD skulls:

BC=worthless fodder for halfwits.

DRK = actual real world utility, hence the start of a long price rise.

I'm sorry but am I the only one here who, when looking at the Max chart for Darkcoin is not completely freaked out?!?!

A major, major correction is bound to happen at any moment. The coin literally shot straight up, and if you look at any other coin, or stock for that matter, what goes up must and always does come down.

I know I'll be called a hater, and a lot of people will be very vocal about how wrong I am and this coin will continue to rise and rise and rise forever, but really. This sucker is a ticking time bomb.

I got a feelin' things are gonna get pretty bloody pretty damn soon.

Ps.  New Twitter Account Everyone!  @Stratobitz   Follow for buy sell tips, rumors I've heard, you know, all that.

For reasons as comparing it to any other coin or stock I would not follow you on twitter or listen to your trade tips

cheers for the input though

So would your advice be then to buy?

Do you think there is a chance it will Quadrupple in value again in just 3 days?  Basically from 48000 to 200000?

If not then I take it this coin is a hold. Right?

Looks shakey at best. Looks a little like BC when it shot up and then right back down.

BC shot up 200x and Dark is innovative, don't compare a cow to a chicken.

Oh sorry ok I didn't realize that. Cancel that everyone Darkcoin is gonna be just fine!  It's innovative!

Simple minded fool Smiley

I'm sorry Nut Master I honestly have to ask... Is Darkcoin the chicken, or the cow?  Because I'm not sure what you meant by that.

Me personally, I look for coins that are Leopards, Cougars, and Eagles.  But I suppose chickens and cows are ok too.

But really... Which one is Darkcoin?  The chicken, or the cow?

I don't think you quite understand the point I was making, BC and Dark are two different coins, comparing them is pointless.

Iám trying to buy some Darkcoins. Looks like Bittrex has to little coins.
Take half a day to get some.
Somebody any tips?

Hmm 5 min. and i leave Bittrex and buy them on Cryptsy.

Mintpal has been good for me. Also like poloniex. Bugger all volume to buy anywhere south of 0.005 though.

Seems like the only exchanges with any kind of volume are mintpal and cryptsy. Poloniex pales in comparison to the other 2. Any know any other exchanges out there with decent volume?

If I knew of a magical exchange full of cheap DRK sell orders, I wouldn't tell you about it. Smiley

Not looking for cheap, just looking for volume.  Smiley

This.
Sell before it's too late.

THis +1, I've already sold my 500 darkcoin. Darkcoin is being pumped at the moment, price is gonna crash back to .40 soon, there are coins like eMunie that make darkcoin worthless(eMunie is 2nd gen, mailing system, PoS, completely anonymous with encrypted blockchain and made be on of the best developers in the world) Not advertising that coin, but darkcoin really isnt even 1/4 as good as some other coins out there.

We moved from 20 to 34 and counting masternodes, difficulty moved from 400-600 to 800-1000, network hashrate moving to ... 30Gh/s?

I think you are missing the point, this is the correction of the price.

But you used two totally boring, bland examples to point out how they are so different?  You didn't say comparing BC to DRK is like comparing Eagles to Pigeons... Or Black Stallions to Ponies... Two very different things... You said it was like comparing a chicken to a cow... So I was just curious which one was which.  That's all.

Plenty of volume, you just have to be willing to pay enough for it. Wink

Seriously, DRK is still dirt cheap.

For all idiots spamming these theme: let me do your homework -- hypothetically person A is willing to transfer 1B $ to person B.

Anonymously.

There are less than 10M DRK. How much should the price go up in order to satisfy this requirement (hint x * 10 000 000 = 1 000 000 000)?

This coin is something different and is backed by a brilliant mind, coins like these deserve to have much higher value.

Value is never "deserved"... it must be earned.

Don't use the word "deserved"... only freeloaders with entitlements claim that they "deserve" something...

Instead... let's help DRK earn it's place...

Jesus man, I'm not saying either of them are animals. I'm just saying comparing Dark and Black is pointless as they both have different USPs, I cannot simplify this anymore. I wish you luck with your twitter account.

Not looking for cheap, just looking for volume.  Smiley

Mintpal looks like it has the most volume.  It used to be cryptsy but in the last 24 hours mintpal has taken the lead from the looks of it.

Smiley

Plenty of volume, you just have to be willing to pay enough for it. Wink

Seriously, DRK is still dirt cheap.

Volume only on mintpal and cryptsy. Cryptsy does weird things at random times so really only mintpal. Looking for volume on other exchanges if there is one out there. Looks like there is no other exchange with any kind of decent volume and everyone is trading on these few exchanges.

Exactly.

From now on I am answering sensible questions where possible, expressing my own opinions as I see fit, and ignoring posters who clearly need a fistful of pills to help them tie their own shoelaces.

The thing is, there are other coins that are completely anonymous and offer Much Much more than Darkcoin.
eMunie is completely anonymous similar to darkcoin, in its beta stage atm, and features a inwallet chatroom, chat messaging system, interest system similar to banks, you get to choose your own address name(like Darkota), the list goes on and on

eMunie is premined, right? That's pre-emtive centralisation. So fuck it.
eMunie and anonymity? Let me see the manuals.
