Phew, glad i sold at 0.0138 and made up for my losses yesterday. Over 400 BTC just been dumped, back down to under 0.0120 and dropping.

It's not dropping. The 4 hour chart correction which has taken place over the last 2 and a half days is coming to a close. Momentum is starting to develop to the upside again.

All that happened was some whale hawks who appear to be pouring over the same charts panicked when it started to turn around and put in some massive early buys (about an hour ago) that drove the price straight back to 14. Since they were a bit ahead of the curve with their buys, the market's continuing to consolidate at the pace it was and has added 0.0015 BTC to the 0.01 we were trading at just prior to those panic buys.
Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I'm running 0.10.8.2 and trying to make my first Darksend transaction. I've tried three times now to send small amounts (0.00xx), but none have worked. The first shows as Type="Payment to yourself", Address="(n/a)" and amount="0.00". The next two are the same except the amount is -0.001.

What am I doing wrong? Does the amount need to be larger? I know  there is a limit of 10, but is there a minimum?

Not sure what the problem is, but there is no minimum amount.

Those big whales.. 50+ master nodes running on amazon ec.. that's gotta be some serious income.  Grin

I must say, although I've only been in DRK for a few weeks, I think the masternode thing is a stroke of genius.

It shows the dev's got a bit of financial nouse as well as technical. I've been trying to work out how worthwhile it is putting up a masternode and I keep going round in circles because:

[1] - it lots of masternodes go up, you'll get less of the "pie"

[2] - but the price of DRK will go up because less money supply and more demand, so what you DO get is worth more

[3] - but if the price goes down, more masternode holders will retire and want to sell their holdings

[4] - so the remaining masternodes get more of the pie, creating more demand and stabilising the market

Kind of like multi-pool effect except it's based on a constructive principle that supports the coin technically as opposed to a parasitical one that does nothing for the coin.

On top of that incentive to have a node... solving Bitcoin's weakness in that area.

can someone quote me the Developement plan / when new futures get released? i cant find it atm ..

not all official, some changes might have been made:

Next week is a big week for anonymity.

1. Zerocash paper goes out (best of luck trying to figure out the RSA private key destruction conundrum).
2. Anoncoin and other clones of zerocoin get to find out what will be going into their coins (zerocash have pulled back from supporting anything other than zerocash, good luck with that).
3. Master nodes start getting paid - yay!!!
4. RC3, possibly - yay!!!
5. Going for $36m market cap and knocking on the door of the top 3 - yay!!!

Here's the new schedule for development:

- RC2 (masternode payments, DGW3) : May 14th
- RC3 (1000 DRK limit and denominated change) : May 21st
- After this, I'll find someone to vet the code and open source.
- RC4 (Bugs, security issues)
- Testing, then opensource

Then some future options:

* I2P:
Quote
I'm implementing I2P into the masternodes. We're going to have our own private network just for DarkSend.
eduffield, 10 May 2014. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg6643662#msg6643662

* Ring signatures are going to be implemented in V2.
Quote
I will begin development immediately after I opensource V1.

If you're shorting, trading, have sell orders. Yeah, good luck with that.

I'm playing a game today.

I assume I have 1000 DRK on Mintpal, and do imaginery trades every time I want to buy or sell.

Down to 500DRK after 12h, which reminds me why I hold and leave trading for the pros and noobs Wink

I tried again, and it was just the same as the last 2.

Old schedule...

- RC2 (magic numbers changed to darkcoin, DGW3) : May 14th
- RC2 (masternode payments) : May 25th
- RC3 (10 DRK limit and denominated change) : June 14th
- After this, I'll find someone to vet the code and open source.
- RC4 (Bugs, security issues)
- Testing, then opensource

The masternode issues and the 3rd fork for the 25th actually messed up the schedule. I've been rewriting much of the code masternode technology (released yesterday, if you haven't updated please do!)

There's still some oddities with the election voting system that I'm going to tackle this next week. This I'll start working again on RC3 .

(Re. Masternodes.....)

It's also a great thing for the initial growth of the coin because having lots of masternodes is going to get you a big slice of the pie, so there's incentive for big whales to move in getting huge volumes of coins whilst they are cheap.

Presumably the strategy needs to incorporate a hefty level of redundancy to support monopolisation of the masternode population and a sudden "cashout" with half of them disappearing overnight if the proprietors don't like the look of the proposition.

Has Evan talked about this ?

EDIT: Jeeps ! He's right there posting. What'dy say Evan ?

Just a thought, if you hold 1000's of DRK in an exchange whats stopping the exchange from masternoding, even on a shortterm basis?

1. Litecoin 2. Bitcoin 3. Any of the Anon coins

I imagine nothing.

But that would be no different from a bank deploying your cash somewhere else while you're not using it.

Actually, that's a good point. The exchanges could rake it in using this approach. Maybe that's half the plan  Shocked

Jesus Christ. I just placed 5 buy orders on my mobile phone. Two smaller ones above 120 and the rest of my bitcoins in much lower buy orders, 'just in case'. I'm done placing my orders and scroll up on mintpal and I notice that for some reason it does not display the orders above 120. I refresh. Still not there. I scroll down...

Between me placing the high buy orders and me placing buy orders slightly above 100, the 200+ BTC dump happened.

I'm starting to think that the universe does not want me making money with this. I also went full bitcoin for the first time in weeks right before the pump from .006 to .0119 (because of a bad assumption and the fact that I was going on vacation).

They could build something similar, but cannot use Darksend as it's not finished or open source yet.

More likely he plans on stealing *ahem* implementing it when darksend becomes open source. I call bullshit personally.
