Is the guy also working on de-anomyzing darksent(d)s?

No, he stumbled upon it whilst working on Ring Confidential Transactions for Monero. Perhaps if a bounty was offered he would try.

Maybe we should set up a bounty to be paid via budget proposal if anyone succeeds.

Someone proposed to do that a year ago but had no luck.
I approve the proposal as well.

In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware. details https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelme --- https://tehnoetic.com/laptops --- https://store.vikings.net/x200-ryf-certfied

Edit : oh darn, someone found it

@toknormal and @VeritasSapere, the weird question I can't help but see is what if there is no fiat currency to peg against?  How would a currency / or what would a currency peg itself against?

Tante - that is a good point. Obviously then people would trade the bare asset like they always do in those kind of crises.

But then you've basically got a barter economy. If you're going to trade bare assets it could be anything - gold, bitcoin, bikes, eggs. Money in those situations in whatever people need the most.

Currencies are for when the lights are on, not off. For a non-crises situation, non weimar republic because although crises like that do happen (and we might be staring down the barrel of one right now), they're not a permanent state of affairs.

All I'm saying is that in advanced economies you have layer upon layer of monetary media. Only the base layer is limited supply (or was in the days of the gold standard). The rest have all kinds of properties that allow them to respond to liquidity demand in a controlled way.

To me, using a base asset as a currency is like riding a bike without tyres - you can do it but it ain't half going to hurt your a*ss  Wink
I mentioned earlier that when fiats disappear we can still peg to other commodities. However if there is a great level of adoption of any one particular cryptocurrency I suspect that currency would become much more stable, theoretically at least it should at least be as stable if not more stable then some of the more traditional commodities like gold, with much higher levels of adoption that is.

It is also good to keep in mind that commodity money has been the predominant form of currency for the majority of known human history, so we certainly do have precedent for its practicality. Fiat is actually only a relatively recent development in terms of the history of money.

I wonder why nobody wants to pay for the hard work of bug hunting (ie vulnerability/penetration testing).

Does the community want Dash to really be secure, or do they want to avoid hearing unpleasant facts about its cargo cult bamboo version of good crypto?

I would never prioritize marketing fluff like soda machines and strippers over vital security improvements, and don't understand why anyone would (unless they are just here to push a scam).

But give Shen a few days, I'm sure he'll have an even easier time de-anonymizing Dash

Hey Eduardo, do you want me to create an 8-round Darksend transaction for him to tackle? I'd be happy to do so!

P.S. I'd love some sort of a bug bounty / pen test program funded by the blockchain. Once some budget space frees up next month, somebody should start that up!

Didn't Evan Duffield say evolution will have a 1-round Darksend transaction as default? Perhaps the bounty should be for that.

I think that's correct, that the future default of darksend for evolution should be equivalent (or better) to the existing 8-round darksend.

A bounty for 8-round is the closest thing we could do right now, as its the only thing that exists. The alternative is to wait until evolution is ready.

As much as I hate to say it
I'm giving up on DASH
The crypto-community hates DASH and does nothing but kick it around and kick it down
Everybody is hung up on past actions....
I'm done....

Masternodes will be sold off and I won't be back...

Good luck all.............. You're gonna need it...
It was nice knowing you. Good luck to YOU in your future endeavours.

Same here!  Take care!

Good thing I don't like the crypto community as a whole "out there"  LOL.  I'd say please don't make decisions when you're upset, but it seems you may have already acted on your decision.  Certainly if you're getting upset over it, it's a good thing to do - to leave.

Not so long ago this assbreaker laughed at dash when we were happy when one "haxor" found a bug, exploit it and told devs about it.
Now he changed the music.
Oh, good ol' assbreaker.

I think there still is a standing bounty.  We need to verify if it still exists?!  If so, we need to put it up on Dash.org

Thanks for your  contribution ( BusterNutBag had done )
You will find good coin better than DASH. DASH had handcap in launching bug.
But core team made big achievement for two years.
I think Core team don't have many benefit from launching bug.
Big part of DASH would be in someone's wallet who gathered at lower price and frontier miner who didn't sell.
DASH has  blind spot, but the community will overcome it. Many mn owner supports as you had done.
Good luck.
