@qwizzie  F me!!

I wonder what tok has to say about this. If he's right (he is technically right) we could end up nip/tuck, nip/tucking up and up and up. Whats he call it, the "reserve market" (I think) regarding tied up DASH in MN's.

there is still some heavy resistance (sell pressure) ahead in the upper 0.012 range but this a really nice price range to consolidate
and pressure forward from.

the increase in total active masternodes signals that  lot of the buying indeed goes towards setting up more masternodes
which will further strengthen the Dash network and in time will have an effect on the liquidity in the market which could lead to unexspected price spikes (jumps in price).

with the arrival of BTC38 who added a DASH/BTC pair recentely, there is also a noticeable stronger buying pressure. currently they are again second in most traded Dash volume
exchange over the last 24 hours (71 BTC)

it will be interesting to see how this all will develop further....

Dash is a centralized shitcoin owned by handful guys or most Dash holders are just dumb as fuck. Literally no one is lending there Dashs @ Poloniex for about 0.5-2% per day.

I need some help voting. I unlocked my wallet, then voted on an initiative using the debug console, but it says it did not vote succesfully:

18:27:34 {
    "overall" : "Voted successfully 0 time(s) and failed 0 time(s).",
    "detail" : {

}

I voted directly from my master node. What am I doing wrong?

Try closing your wallet and delete budget.dat. Open the wallet and let it fully synch with the network.

Don't use the MN with funds in it, there is no reason to open that up.  Use your online "working" masternode.  If your setup is relying on a masternode.conf file, do vote-many, if you're using a dash.conf file, do simply vote

Thanks, using vote instead of vote-many worked!

I have to use the MN with funds in it, as I am using a simple MN as per this fantastic guide ;+) https://dashtalk.org/threads/guide-simple-masternode-on-a-windows-machine.7956/

Edit: did my democratic duty and voted on everything. Loving this.

She meant that you can just use any empty wallet with the correct masternode dash.conf and vote without any risk to the 1000 coins. Not sure if there's official documentation on it.

Means I can just steal someones votes once I get access to his dash.conf and vote with an empty wallet. Sounds scary if you think for a moment what harm can be done to the project using this method.

Yes, keep your dash.conf safe (the private key inside is what is important).  On other hand, that private key can't be used to get your funds.  And if it is lost, you can create a new private key and put in remote/local files and regain control.

i'm aware we have / are developing our own BaaS (Blockchain as a Service) but i was wondering
if we would benefit from using Microsoft Azure in some way seeing how Bitshares has gone live on Microsoft Azure ?

ref : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1393219.0

I'm really just curious if Dash could have benefits there (marketing benefits for example) or are we building something here that doesn't really need Microsoft Azure ?

Why would they? Dash is one of the few alts that can generate a return to the holders while they keep possession of the coins. Why risk when you can reach ~13% return with close to zero variance, full security, and almost no maintenance required?

Hey guys what are the best VPS prices over the globe?
I am wondering if it would be better if I run the MN through a raspberry pi from home.
I can get a raspberry pi 2 B (I heard the newest model 3 has got overheating issues therefor you should put a dissipator on it) + sd card + charger for something like 65$ from amazon.

In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware. details https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelme --- https://tehnoetic.com/laptops --- https://store.vikings.net/x200-ryf-certfied

There's no reason why Dash can't be packaged and templated (is that a word lol) into a VM for use on any hosting platform... I'm not sure what the fuss is about with Bitshares and Etherium templates being available to provision on the azure platform. Azure is just a hosting platform that happens to be run by microsoft. I've used it in my business to host exchange and some line of business applications and it's great. Think if it like Vultr but with way more bells and whistles...

Virtual Appliances or templates have been around for years so the tech is nothing new, packaging linux distros (or microsoft OS's) with pre-loaded software so that they're available for rapid deployment and provisioning on hosted platforms is cool stuff, but not exactly 'bleeding edge' for crypto. I was doing this stuff in VMware nearly a decade ago!

I could set up a Masternode on Azure in exactly the same way as I do on Vultr, there's nothing to stop me. There's an ubuntu template on Azure so I'd just deploy that and set up a masternode as I would on Vultr.

A template would be cool but that's something that can be developed independent of the azure platform anyway. There are a lot of clever people out there, creating a Virtual Appliance that sets up a masternode out-of-the-box is well within the technical abilities of the community I'm sure Smiley

As for the general news about bitshares and etherium... A lot of hot air in my opinion. People just associate the word Microsoft with $$$$.

Regards

Walter
