The masternode network could prove to be the biggest advance in crypto history, leading to all kinds of cool applications! OK, so *at present* (leaving aside what "could prove to be the biggest [blah blah blah Hopium and Blue Sky happy talk]"), isn't facilitating DarkSend and InstantX transactions the entire point of Masternodes? And I'm only talking about their functions at the protocol level, not their socioeconomic use as a Ponzi scheme that builds up unsustainable numbers of unsold and unsellable coins. |

Last chance to exchange 10 XMR for 1 DASH" As I understand it, the "Hopium Blue sky Happytalk" beta's will have some kind of native collateral pooling, so there will be a far wider participation and not the same correspondence between a particular person's holding and a masternode. (Similar to what Node40 etc do at the moment). |

I think their main purpose is acting as regular nodes providing a robust network infrastructure. So you never get that "No block source available" message or wait for a week for the blockchain to download from some random shitcoin miners's ancient PC on a dial-up connection  |

Thanks for fleshing out exactly what I meant by blue sky Hopium with all the wishful thinking about life in Dufftopia.
I'll take that as acknowledgement that Masternodes *currently* serve no purpose other than facilitating two unlicensed money services, which are transmission and laundering.
