Darkcoin got a small spotlight in TBI's Daily Bit.
It's a newsletter covering Bitcoin.
I was in an email exchange with the editor and he copy/pasted something I wrote and added it to his daily mail, sent to many Bitcoiners.

online link: http://us3.campaign-archive2.com/?u=c39de4e536e5e86994c064566&id=0808964ab0&e=c35edfe680

It reads:
======
Anonymous on Bitcoin Taxes: Darkcoin eliminates this tax issue altogether. You simply CAN NOT follow the blockchain, know who owns what or who transferred to whom.  It's all anonymous thanks to Darksend technology.  Darkcoin is open-source; Darksend in late beta and planned to be open-sourced within 2-3 weeks when it's officially rolled-out.  Cryptos [and Bitcoin] will be EXACTLY like cash - anonymous.  The regulator can enforce whatever it wants on Bitcoin as it is now... but with Bitcoin + Darksend technology it will be impossible.

I don't know how many readers it has, but I figure quite a few... and every vote counts  Smiley
His tweeter has 2,700 followers - https://twitter.com/twobitidiot

p.s. If there is any bounty for articles (i know it's not coindesk), I would appreciate it is transferred to the TBI journalist directly. @

Nice!

The bounty is only for articles explicitly / primarily about Darkcoin. I would consider claims for the bounty for other high-profile sites than those mentioned.

I am a firm believer that that p2pool provides that best decentralized mining for any coin.  I have also thrown my hat into the ring and setup a P2Pool Node.

cryptohasher.net:7903

107.170.107.208:7903 on http://darkcoin.mine.nu/

As miners we need to be moving more hashrate into the P2Pool nodes, this helps protect the coin long term.  You get paid on every block, don't have to worry about DDOS attacks, you can move to any P2Pool node and you don't loose shares.

If your not up to speed on P2Pool this is a good overview:

I don't think Bitcoin will ever implement Darksend.  Darksend is totally coded and integrated with DarkCoin.  They would have to rework Bitcoin almost from the ground up, and they're WAY too afraid to mess with the code that much.  If they do, it'll take them a long time.

I read recently a comment from ... Mike? one of Bitcoin's developers, and he was saying Bitcoin is planning on a Tor system.  I don't know how much influence he has?  Anyway, they mostly don't want to mess anything up, and I can't blame them.

As much as I love Darkcoin, I'd love it even more if BTC was able to make itself totaly anonymous. This is very much needed for the whole world.

I think Monero (XMR) is very interesting.

a. I totally agree with you (even though I can't claim to understand how Darksend works or the ease of adopting it in other coins).
b. It is a Bitcoin journalist, so anything not connected to Bitcoin, would have been out of his interest scope.
c. the elaborated paragraph of my email correspondence was-

I'm in Bitcoin for a long while, but I've converted to Darkcoin recently after an epiphany that this is going to be the year of anonymity (Darkcoin vs. Zero coin vs. tor), and of local coins. Unfortunately, the Bitcoin Foundation being the center of attention and a heavy-weight dinosaur can not imho experiment so easily in such radical technologies, so i believe it will have to follow suit rather than lead the way.

Quote
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2Pool

P2Pool creates a new block chain in which the difficulty is adjusted so a new block is found every 30 seconds. The blocks that get into the P2Pool block chain (called the "share chain") are the same blocks that would get into the Bitcoin block chain, only they have a lower difficulty target. Whenever a peer announces a new share found (new block in the P2Pool block chain), it is received by the other peers, and the other peers verify that this block contains payouts for all the previous miners who found a share (and announced it) that made it into the P2Pool share chain. This continues until some peer finds a block that has a difficulty that meets the Bitcoin network's difficulty target. This peer announces this block to the Bitcoin network and miners who have submitted shares for this block are paid in the generation transaction, proportionally to how many shares they have found in the last while.

Stales
On P2Pool stales refer to shares which can't make it into the sharechain. Because the sharechain is 60 times faster than the Bitcoin chain many stales are common and expected. However, because the payout is PPLNS only your stale rate relative to other nodes is relevant; the absolute rate is not.
There are two reported kinds of stales in P2Pool: "DEAD ON ARRIVAL" shares and orphan shares. Dead shares were too old by the time they arrived at your local P2Pool. Very high dead rates can indicate miner misconfiguration. Orphan shares are shares which were not extended by the rest of the P2Pool network, because some other miner's share was accepted first. Very high orphan rates may indicate network connectivity problems.

Yes, there are ways to make BTC pretty anonymous, but I want it to be very easy for My Grandmother™ to be almost totaly anonymous with no effort. Eventually the parasite that is the state will eat consume itself with taxes. It's vital for the survival of many people that they will be able to avoid this coming wealth destruction.

I think Monero (XMR) is very interesting.

this is a good intensity-joke Wink
though i'm mining for 2 1/2 years in this crypto-world

with the same settings i'm getting at a "standard"-pool always < 1 % rejects (0.2 to 0.8 %)
but on a p2p-node ~ 4 % and more

yeah, i tested it on two nodes with latency < 100 ms
the results: 4.5 % + 6 %
i think its a good idea with p2p-pool(s) - but not for my rigs Wink

Darkcoin got a small spotlight in TBI's Daily Bit.
It's a newsletter covering Bitcoin.
I was in an email exchange with the editor and he copy/pasted something I wrote and added it to his daily mail, sent to many Bitcoiners.

online link: http://us3.campaign-archive2.com/?u=c39de4e536e5e86994c064566&id=0808964ab0&e=c35edfe680

It reads:
======

Gonna pick on you to make a point. Tor does something very different from what Darkcoin does......but this comes up a lot - should we work to make this clear to those who aren't as savvy? Tor == anonymized connections - nothing to do with blockchain - totally different thing. Darkcoin could easily add Tor support ....in fact, you can do it yourself for all your coins as you could do it without even touching any code.

1. the high rejection-rate at 3 - 6 % - it is significantly lowering my hashrate
--> I think lowering intensity will help

this is a good intensity-joke Wink
though i'm mining for 2 1/2 years in this crypto-world

with the same settings i'm getting at a "standard"-pool always < 1 % rejects (0.2 to 0.8 %)
but on a p2p-node ~ 4 % and more

choose closest p2pool node is best answer.

What caused network latency ?

overloaded cpu, network line prob.....

yeah, i tested it on two nodes with latency < 100 ms
the results: 4.5 % + 6 %
i think its a good idea with p2p-pool(s) - but not for my rigs Wink

Which node and what is your address ?

show your rig stat.

can't open your link
DRK-address: Xce64w3AYiu2DjcVoK4ciL5FJUBbwtYeRj
my tested nodes: darkcoin.fr:7903 + mightypool.net:7903

your graph

Red line is DOA.

This link might be help.

Is anyone having trouble syncing the wallet? It's been stuck at 14 hours left (block 34369) for a long time even though it says 9 active connections. I've tried downloading the block chain again and it's still stalls at the same place. The wallet client version is v0.8.9.2-unk-beta.

**** EDIT Nevermind. I see the latest client is v0.9.0.0-unk-beta. I downloaded that and it works now.
