Why so many people mine this coin right now? I'm not trying to be a dick, I just tried to mine it, got 3200KH/s instead of 1200KH/s on scrypt, but it's like 2 times less profitable to mine than most of the scrypt/scrypt-n coins, ~0.003btc/day against ~0.007btc/day. Am I missing something? Is it better to mine with CPU maybe? Like, even if you believe in DarkCoin's future, isn't better to just mine DOGE/LTC, sell them and buy DRK with these money? Why do people mine DRK directly? I compared my results to https://docs.zoho.com/sheet/published.do?rid=12cbm2fe8ce55abb2476daa0f8c576b442d40&mode=html and it's pretty close. Indeed, been mining this though the P2p, 24 hours of mining at 22 MH/s gave me 4 DRK so far... not really profitable to mine! On the other side however, it uses less power to mine so I save a bit on electricity and my cards are running far cooler.... but still not enough to copensate this huge difference in profitability, better to mine something else imho and buy Darkcoins with that result 4MH/s : Got 0.1 DRK per block. p2ool found 20 ~ 40 blocks per day. p2pool full payout is after 24 hours. http://asia02.poolhash.org:7903/static/http://explorer.darkcoin.io/address/Xhw8EQDdK4ogGFre677vgh4RYkocLafQPphttp://asia02.poolhash.org:7903/static/classic/graphs.html?Day

I like the features this coin offers but the name...
No coin will ever become mainstream with the name "darkcoin/blackcoin", sorry, it's just not happening, regardless of new features. No way, 0% chance.
I think you're right but I'm no marketing expert. If drk devs get some proper marketing advice, they might think about other names.

Hope so, cause if this doesn't get much better within the next 4 hours I'm taking my miners eleswhere 3.5 coins so far http://explorer.darkcoin.io/address/Xk4VM6QAJfsjCR6XnYtngYwYruZMeExG7a You haven't reached full payout yet.

Tell me all about how you could possibly think this, as I can't put together much of your motives from all your previous 12 posts. You must know so much for saying something has a 0% chance. Please, lead me out of the dark! Evidently the name and logo create many debates. Is that a good or bad thing? That is above my pay grade. There is a branding bounty, I believe. Lets see what the experts come up with before getting too involved with the issue - IMHO. Maybe after that we can carve out a separate thread for discussing the branding. Right now, lets talk about this mission to the moon that is starting to take place

I think you're right but I'm no marketing expert. If drk devs get some proper marketing advice, they might think about other names. people kept saying that it is horrible about Vertcoin that it is translated to Vert = green. Now a few weeks after that, I don't see any posts about that anymore.

We already had that debate a month ago.
I think Darkcoin is a name that is problematic to be a mainstream coin. I think may be the aim of Darkcoin is not to be mainstream.
More important, once the brand is accepted, the name does not matter anymore.

OMG! I just realized you are right! I'm going back to mining tittie coin, that is much better! Seriously, it seems naive to pick a single aspect of anything and point to it as the sole cause or determiner of everything. Darkcoin could be just as mainstream as anything else - sure, it's not a name the evokes rainbows and sunshine, but it's not a breakfast cereal for kids. It's a perfectly fine name, it's a slightly ironic counterpoint to Litecoin, and it's a two-syllable work with a repeating consonant sound in the middle. You don't get much easier than that. There are plenty of people working on logos, etc that all say Darkcoin. I appreciate your opinion, but I think you are far overstating the potential impact of the name "Darkcoin". Really, the overall effect might better be described as "Some people might get the wrong impression."

+1. The big D with keyhole is facing the wrong way. Flip the symbol left<-> right.
It is not a big D.. it is big D and big C (as in DarkCoin).. flipping would make it meaningless.. Does the $ have a logo? Does the EUR? Does any other currency? Does Gold, have a logo? USD -> $ (this is the logo) EUR -> € (this is the logo) GBP -> £ Yen -> ¥ (same symbol is used for Yuan as far as I can tell) Gold -> just Au I am afraid.. http://www.xe.com/symbols.phpMore like a symbol than a commercial logo though... + 1 on this. Has to be in the windows wallet to appeal to the masses, clean install and environment detection to allow for switching number of threads / cores depending on usage of pc. Eg full bore if no activity detected and right down to just using one core / idling if it's busy on the pc.
Yes, but activated on demand with a click of a button (mine button), with core adjustment as "advanced settings" (I'm thinking like 2 slide bars that change utilization from 1 to 8 cores and from idle to high priority). So it is both simple and configurable, but also not automatic to bring a machine to its knees leading to complaints. Are you using the latest sph sgminer? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=475795.0Some times it depends on the GPU ratio between x11 and scrypt. Right now my ratio is 3.81x (6850) and 3.80x (5830) respectively compared to scrypt - but that's close to the max ratio that one can get with the older cards (79xx and R9s are closer to 3x). Your ratio is 2.66x (3200kh/1200kh) which could take some improvement. Note 1: 0.003 btc is too low (?). 0.003 is, with current prices of 0.00152 per DRK, less than 2 coins per day (2 mhash should provide 2 coins unless there is a large and continuous spike in difficulty). If you had a more optimal ratio close to 3x, you should have ~3.6 mhash and ~3.6 coins per day X 0.00152 = 0.0055 BTC. With 3.3x it should be 0.006 BTC. The difference with the theoretical 0.007 should be easily covered by half power draw (check note 3). Note 2: 0.007 for scrypt is slightly inflated. Doge in particular always pays far less in practice than in theory. I don't know what's going on, but if it's not like 130% compared to LTC I'm not touching it. Note 3: Half power draw that is not siphoning money out of our wallets (~$0.16 to ~$0.28kw/h here - escalating with increased use). The x11 of dark is really gentle for those who have high electric costs.

Hello Guys
I have started mining Hirocoin and there's so many new players thinking hirocoin is innovative and stands for a lot of tech behind the coin.
Hirocoin has managed to introduce a lot of people into the x11 which is awesome.
Hirocoin is now exploding in price and the diff is really low.
I am not promoting hirocoin I'm just letting you know that there's some easy profits there that I will use to buy up more DRK so we get more money into the system.
Any thoughts?

Yes HiroS is doing great marketing. In a few weeks they will have invented X11 and not be shady like Darkcoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=529111.0 In my opinion, this is a prelude to why Darkcoin will be struggle to see the lofty heights it deserves. The fact that there are douchebags a plenty in this world.

Profit on it while you can - if you want. Make no mistake, this is just a copy coin in large, it's in a different league. Copied --> Boomed --> Pumped --> Dumped --> Forgotten Copycoin devs just piggy back on real devs effort, zero innovation, always step or 2 behind. Smart ones know the difference and put the money where it'll grow.

If you try that hard to sap the competition (Darkcoin), the coin you want to promote must not have much qualities.
