Simple Economics would say supply and demand
Little supply and high demand will/could cause the price to sky rocket beyond anything you have ever seen or experienced - ever

If RC4 fails - DRK will enter a true dark age that could take some time to recover from - if ever

Nobody has a crystal ball and there are times when I read DRKtalk RC4 that I cringe a little bit but the bugs keeps getting squashed and the movement keeps moving forward.

Until Evan and the DEVs run out of ideas and DRK seems to stagnate - I think we have nothing to worry about except our own personal fears of, 'Did I make the right decision?' - 'Is a true anon even possible?'

Nobody will know until it's done.....and proven.

I'm gonna keep on, keep'n on.....until the end.....

I just want to say one thing, I have always said Blackcoins / Darkcoins success was largely dependent on Mintpals success as a exchange. I actually feel since the mintpal hack and change of ownership to Moolah it has hurt the coins that have done well on Mintpal in the past.

This is not me trying to spread fud but just a observation, if btc comes pouring back into Mintpal we will see both the above coins rise in price again.
Traffic was driven to the exchange of the moment by success of the coin, not the other way around.

Attrition from Minpal at this time is remarkably good timing, as they will no longer be the go-to exchange.

Bitfinex is about to get huge and they can thank Evan for it.

when Bitfinex enables margin on DRK they will probably become the largest drk exchange. I'm ready to leverage long!

I think that looking at the number of masternodes, how many people have already invested - now at ~745, if all goes well with RC4, we are going to see a rise in price thats going to shock the hell out of the crypto world.

Thats a great point. In my opinion it will be bigger once its open source but you're right, people will want drk's but a lot will be stored for masternodes.

This is a point in time where:

* Investors and active supporters are holding
* Potential investors are sitting on the sideline waiting for code release
* Traders are sitting waiting for announcement of RC4 date
* Sellers have sold
* Price pressure is mainly from multi-pools

So, IMO, this is a moment in history where you can't complain about the entry point for Master Nodes.

One to two months ago people were saying Master Nodes were too expensive. Well, there is right this moment a temporary fix for that complaint. When people start saying that again in 2-3 weeks time, I will re-post this:

In the third week in July 2014, right before the unique DRK anon code was released to the world and DRKs were affordable, you should have bought in.  Instead, you decided to wait a little longer. That was your choice. You didn't want to take the risk on the uncertainty. Plenty of others were.

So now, stop fucking complaining about the high price of Darkcoins. There is no advantage to early investors, they were just prepared to use Google for a few hours to take a look at the anon options in the market and the issues around privacy and the lack of it in Bitcoin, Litecoin and many other coins.

These guys looked at the close relationship Darkcoin has with Bitcoin and Litecoin, and how these established coins could be at a disadvantage in some circumstances from their lack of privacy and how easily Darkcoin could be added alongside them to fix privacy issues for those that wanted that reassurance.

Yes there are other anon options, but which can be slotted next to Bitcoin and Litecoin without too much work, that is the question you must ask yourself as the price continues to steadily increase.

What is more than certain is that the high price you are complaining about now will simply continue to increase. If it hurts you to buy now, it will be completely out of your reach next month.

The only person you can blame for the high price of Darkcoin and your inability to afford a MN is you.

After RC4 (and 10 Drk limit is lifted), functioning market based on Darkcoins will probably do a lot to boost Drk value.

that's why some people press the price low for accumulating~

This is the best project in crypto----DarkCoin. Time will tell and don't blame you miss it.

I got OzzieCoin to set mine up for a small fee, message him and see if he has the time to do it.

His instructions will leave you with enough knowledge to be self sufficient after that, if you want to set-up more...

I bolded the only part with which I take issue.

Uncertainty? Where? What? Has there ever been a Dev this persistent and capable? If there is any uncertainty, it comes from a person's own inability to analyze the situation objectively. Be it too much emotional non-thinking, or just being stupid and not understanding anything about what is being done or how crypto works, etc... There is no uncertainty about DRK and the direction it is going. There are only those unable to divine it, and their inabilities are what causes uncertainty external to DRK. The weak and stupid are always in doubt for they lack the ability to observe reality. Everything they need to know is right in front of their faces, but they're too stupid to understand it.

Like people with no survival skills... Surrounded by the things that would keep them alive, but too detached from reality, dependent upon mooching off of a society, to know what to do without something to mooch off of, so they die.

It will be interesting to see if the PnD groups and Whales move over to it to create the initial volume it needs to get on the map.

About uncertainty and certainty in economics, to whom it may concern:

"Unlike the position that exists in the physical sciences, in economics and other disciplines that deal with essentially complex phenomena, the aspects of the events to be accounted for about which we can get quantitative data are necessarily limited and may not include the important ones. While in the physical sciences it is generally assumed, probably with good reason, that any important factor which determines the observed events will itself be directly observable and measurable, in the study of such complex phenomena as the market, which depend on the actions of many individuals, all the circumstances which will determine the outcome of a process, for reasons which I shall explain later, will hardly ever be fully known or measurable."

Hi All,

I would like to setup a MN too. My query is different from the original poster of this message though!
I was wondering if it would be cheaper just to go ahead and purchase DRK instead of Mining? Which is a better option? Prices being what they are (0.0008) this sounds the more lucrative option to go ahead and purchase DRK (I know i need a 1000 DRK to setup the MN, i have around 50).

Looks like some pools are wanting to avoid the 20%. This certainly isn't fair from them. Everyone should use the right client.

FYI if VirtualBox-4.3.14 does not work, downgrade to 4.3.12 which worked for me on Win7 64.

Same experience. Updated from .12 to .14 few weeks ago and couldn't load my VM's anymore. Downgraded back to .12 and all is ok again.

If any of you haven't looked in a while, there is so much amazing work going on by so many people, and you can get a glimps by peeking at the threads here:

https://darkcointalk.org/forums/official-developer-thread.15/

And the testing threads.  Ideas pop up, and I'm not even checking IRC, which I suspect is equally exciting.  Look at the work being done on the wallet GUI, someone just came in asking about usability for himself, because he is blind!  Wow, nobody thought about this!  He wants to run a masternode!  So immediately DRKLord is thinking of a temp solution.  It's just amazing the talent out there and their willingness to put their time into this.  Just makes me feel so good about Darkcoin and it's future.
