There's nothing wrong in wanting to sell; I've considered it. It's a gamble. Sell to someone who sees a big upside? Sure. And risk getting burned 6 or 12 months down the road? Quite possibly. My point is that seeing people wanting to sell stakes shouldn't rattle our cages. Some are from people seeing a possible opportunity. Some are trolls. If you see upside to NEM, we need to put our tray in the upright position and fasten our seatbelts for some momentary turbulence. We'll forget all this bullshit once we have a client to fire up.  We need some people to sell their stakes or trade them for goods. It's important for there to be liquidity. |

If NEM software is mostly cloned from NXT with a few changes 1:40 will be a very good deal.
You seem to be misinformed. There is no common code between NEM and NXT. Aside from the "N", they're completely different. Jaguar0625, I did not intend to sound critical with my use of the word 'clone'. A better description for what you are doing might be 'remake', like with a movie, or 'cover', like with a song or piece of music. There is room for deviation from the original. I believe I understand what you are trying to achieve.
Our initial plan was to base NEM on the NXT code, which is why there are two versions of the NXT code in the repository. However, this project garnered a really large amount of interest and we have more dev resources than I expected. At this time, it is the consensus of the dev team to base NEM on some of the NXT ideas but write the code from scratch. While this will take a little more time and effort now, I think it will set up NEM much better in the long run.
The goal is not for NEM to be a NXT copy and paste coin. IMO, there's no value in that. With NEM, we want to take some of the best ideas of NXT and Bitcoin and create something new and, hopefully, better.
No worries. I just don't like using the "clone" word to describe NEM. There are a log of NXT knockoffs popping up, and I just want to make sure that everyone realizes that NEM is actually something new and different. Now there are many copies of NXT, such as NAS/NXTL..... In addition to the new code, NEM is really a lot of innovation place, everyone is looking forward to the release of the NEM... |

For the record, I like the community as it is. Since it has a uniquely wide breadth and depth even at this stage and I expect amazing things from the community when the time comes.
So I see there is no real issue with NEM community (and surely only imaginary fiasco). Thank you all for your supports.

It seems most concerned only speculation around NEM and they are interested to sell their stack as expensive as possible. This is a very an unfortunate fact. Such people do not keeping with the principles the movement. |

I bought one stake and in the hope that NEM has a bright future.
A lot of things discussed in this thread I cannot understand. I am not a computer nerd but thought supporting NEM would be a good idea. But when reading this thread I am more and more confused about the NEM project.

Okay, here is the thing --
1. It is utopianfuture's policy not to reply anyone in PM.
2. I have concrete evidence that would lead to discover of big multi-accounters. However, it would require some investigative work. I cannot do it alone so I am asking for help.
3. I have some of sellingallmynem's accounts. By tracing them and combining what he told me during our course of conversation, I was able to discover his identity.
4. Has anyone considered the possibility that what I'm telling you is the truth? So nobody cared? So be it.
I reply to a lot of PM but I don't deal with stake issue via PM. I suggest you to publish all of your finding in the stake complaint thread. Everyone including me could use your finding if they are useful and at the same time can validate the contents of your finding. I don't see the need to form a NEM KGB to deal with your concern (or any other one for that matter). |
