Does any of NEM stakeholders want to run an exchange ? (and have some experiences doing so). I know Tristan (Busoni) of Poloniex,  is one of our early stakeholder, Gravitons is as well but how about we are making a fresh one ?

+1 for making another exchange
I would not limit to one exchange only from beginning as this could result in monopoly and high fees
is better to have few exchanges from the start or if this is not the case then
it would be better to have one run by the community and not by a single entity
because it could jeopardize the NEM widespread adoption.

Some of us have been in discussion for sometimes. We could run it as a collective.

Dgex will add it really quickly I think. They also reduced their withdrawal fees to 0%. So that's cool.
It only takes too long to withdraw at Dgex.

From there we could grow to other exchanges.

If NEM is going to make a wallet. Please make one good wallet instead of 5-6 wallets that confuses people which one to download like NXT.

Also make it one click installable.

I see this as a problem with NXT. There are so much websites about NXT and everyone promotes different clients.

It shows 1 thing; the community likes NXT and is working hard, that's why there are multiple wallets available. It's fun.
But I think we should use 1 easy to use client and promote that from the start. Then we can develop it to the wishes of the users.

I have had many complaints that people cannot install the client of NXT etc.

I agree that from start there should be one client immediately distributed with NEM
but we should not impose any limit to other developers do develop their own NEM clients.
I think that client development should start as soon as possible after client technology, features and design (look & feel) are defined.

Any one has ideas about the client?
How it should look?
What features should be included?
What technologies(platform) should be used to build it?
How should it work with the NEM core (web api or something else)?
Can we open some kind of debate (whishes/proposals) list about the client?

I was just thinking about terminology...

'NEMcoin' or 'NEM' should refer to the currency.

'The NEM Foundation' should refer to NEM as a whole.

What do you think? I think 'The NEM Foundation' has a ring to it.

Edit: 'The NEM Foundation' was mentioned earlier, I don't take credit for inventing the name.

Personally I would not refer to it as "The NEM Foundation" because "The Bitcoin Foundation" now leaves a very bad taste in people's mouths after the whole Gox fiasco.

No DGEX. I not like

Of course we should go with DGEX!  It's a stable & well functioning exchange who was there when NXT (the most important 'ancestor' of NEM) hit the world.  They are reliable (could be a bit faster though) and shouldn't be left out when NEM hits exchanges.

DGEX is stable and reliable, i think everything was done manually by Graviton. Thus the slowness of service People need to sleep. My concern is that it  puts us in bed with nxt at such an early stage on the (nxt exchange !!)
I am not saying anything underhand would happen but i do feel uncomfortable with such an arrangement at this time. It's perhaps best to shape our own destiny with our own exchange then move on.

I have "nemco.in" domain registered and ready to dedicate it for NEM Exchange and can promise to provide %49 of it's shares to NEM Comunity.

Also I think DGEX is very slow, Weak and expensive! The new one should be fast, Strong(like 2FA), and have more competitive Fees.

I had more than 18 years of experience in IT but no experience in exchange, to be honest, but see no problem to handle it.

Let me know if it sounds good!

I don't agree. DGEX NXT withdrawals are manually controlled by Graviton - If he dies today (god forbid), what happens to all of DGEX's funds? Maybe there is a security feature in place for DGEX not folding. But, I would prefer if the community used its own AUTOMATED exchange, to quickly process transactions.

Exactly. DGEX is a step backwards. We should source the community for what they want in an exchange, for devs, etc. Then build it as a community; distribute shares to contributors and sell the rest of the shares to the community or maybe even just distribute them to stakeholders and give a more proportional cut to those that contributed and built the exchange. NEM and the NEMxChange shares can be traded on the exchange and share holders can get a cut of fees. Have a typical shareholder voting system. Then the exchange is owned by the community. It could even branch out to other trading pairs based on what the community wants, etc, etc.

DGEX has just placed and sold almost 100k shares privately on its own website, most have gone so they netted about 12M NXT I think which hopefully will be invested into making that exchange better.

Its 100k of 300k shares so its only 30% in shared ownership but that means it values the whole exchange at 36M NXT  if I did my math right.

Maybe they will integrate NEM and then do a NEM based share placement too in the future.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves and learn from what as been done right by others.
1 > degex primary task was to distribute nxt as a gateway.
2 > The price of nxt was determined from within then by market.
if all goes well i think the community should be able to buy, sell, give amongst ourselves first and thus set a price base before  any market offering. The last thing on my mind is the worth of an outside entity.
