"We felt it was extremely important to clearly communicate to our users how we felt about the security of the network. Today, we’re incredibly proud to announce that we are finally ready to remove the scratched out word “safe” from our website as move into a new phase: Homestead. The Homestead block will be 1.150.000 for the main network which means the Homestead transition will be roughly around midday on Pi day and the Homestead block for the Morden network will be 494.000." https://blog.ethereum.org/2016/02/29/homestead-release/

Quick question, what is an estimate in MH to yield 1 coin in 24 hours, or what could I expect to earn (Ethereum) with 100MH in a 24 hour period. Ballpark figure ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Thanks for any help. it`s around 3.2-3.5 ETH for 120MH/s ok, cool THX! I experimented with a 345mh rental on ethpool.org, and got 5 ETH every 12 hours approx And how much did they charge you for this power? I think there is no miner rentals on Ethereum based mining power. The fee charged by Etherpool is 1%.

It looks like the market has priced in the homestead news and the coin only went up a little compared to what people are expecting.

Don't worry, mining ETH is still very profitable - lets hope price remains the same (ETH/USD).

I just got 6 x R9 280x Sapphire GPUs. Should I use Windows or Ubuntu for mining? I've never used Ubuntu but I'll learn if it has major benefits.

I did not see any major difference in Windows, or Ubuntu when it comes to hashrate.

im getting now - GPU can't allocate the DAG in a single chunk. Bailing.
i cant get mining done with 270 too, mining was ok month ago... Mining Ethereum scales proportionally to the total amount of video RAM. All things equal, a card with more memory will perform better (to a point...a 4GB card probably performs about the same as an 8 GB). The problem with cards that have less RAM is the size of the DAG file. Its going to grow over time as POW mining continues. I had thought 2GB cards would be fine for some time, but your comment about the 270 not mining anymore and especially the DAG error in the previous post, tells me we have probably reached the limit. If that's the case there is no point in buying a 2GB GPU. It will not be possible to mine with it, because the DAG is too big for video memory. However I don't know if that's actually the case yet. Maybe some other people who have 2GB cards could provide some input? But at this point with Ethereum taking off, you should only be looking at 3+GB cards to purchase. If you have a 2GB already you could try deleting the DAG and letting it rebuild, but I don't know if that would actually make it any smaller.

I did not see any major difference in Windows, or Ubuntu when it comes to hashrate. If you want to use Windows, use the Windows 7 or 8.1. Win10 is slower. Ubuntu will be similar to W7 or W8.

You can use the Poloniex.com exchange. It is the largest exchange for the Ethereum trading. There is Eth/USD market there.

I have used Suprnova, Coinotron and Dwarfpool. For some reason, I get more with Dwarfpool and his proxy solution even with a higher difficulty. 5% higher than February with Coinotron. 10% higher than January with Suprnova. It may have to do with server proximity. I am using Dwarfpool's server from Montreal, Canada which even though it pings slower than Suprnova, it beats it.

It has higher payment than other getwork pools. But if there is network disturbance, the proxy will send out incorrect work.
