As Bitcoin becomes harder and more expensive to mine excluding ordinary miners pushing it into the hands of large corporations with massive computing power, charging higher fees - and Ethereum choosing the POS route to make sure it is powered economically and easily by ordinary computers, does this mean that Ethereum could eclipse Bitcoin sooner rather than later?

Not a problem just looking at adding the current price rate that the exchanges are carrying its on there jut need to sort it , make it prettier

If you mean the geth.exe, you just copy and replace the old geth.exe. For the wallet file, there is no need to upgrade.
