What's all this talk of another "attack"?? The only attack I'm aware of was the DDOS a few days ago. And I haven't seen pool waffle mention another attack, unless I've missed it.

Sounds like you conspiracy theorists are claiming someone is stealing your hashing power? I've seen no dropping in hashrate reported by waffle. The Hashrate reported by waffle if still on par with what cgminer reads. And I've been running the same config on waffle for over a month without reconfiguring anything.

If it's a conspiracy it must be a really good one. You can start here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=433634.msg5853318#msg5853318

There is a new exploit going on redirecting hashpower to rouge servers!
Please see the following starting with this page:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=433634.3040

As far as I know anyone mining without the latest Kalroth cgminer patch is still vulnerable.  Veox sgminer has also been patched.

Odd. That doesn't seem to be happening to me since waffle is still reporting the correct hashrate

When you say patched you mean a feature was disabled and no one has a clue why it really happened?

Read the thread from where I pointed to ... Nobody has a DEFINITIVE answer as to how the exploit  is accomplished yet.  The Kalroth patch seems to have defeated it ... however as I said miners running older versions MAY be vulnerable as this could happen again ... so far so good for me Smiley  The DDOS attack occured after the exploit was discovered.  My thoughts: someone here was watching thread and changed attack vector when the exploit was investigated.

Edit: the DDOS occured shortly after client.reconnect was disabled ... As mentioned before, the "Anonymous" group of activist hackers could be involved in this.  Read the wiki on "Anonymous hacker group" and form your own conclusions.

Edit: From one of the pools I am (and mentioned here this pool):

[Update] In the past couple of days we went through several DDoS attacks. In the process our security team had to block extensive list of IPs. This group does not have access to our user database. If by mistake your IP has been blocked, please contact us and we will remedy the situation.

Is it me or is waffle pool not profitable?

Hashrate stats: http://waffles.wilschrader.com/stats?address=18vyt72nwrgYPJMTSJ92ppv1DA6G4putv1

Time to 0.01 BTC: Between 20-24 hours according to above site. Is this what you guys are getting too?

That looks like exactly what the profitability would be for your hashrate.  2.24MH/s is not very much on SCRYPT anymore.

Look at the stats page - WafflePool has been hovering around 0.0045BTC/MH/day lately.

For you, that would be 2.24MH*0.0045BTC/MH/day = ~0.0135BTC/day (So, .01BTC is something like 20-24 hours).

Still more profitable then electricity for me. For many, GPU mining might not be worth it right now.  For example, I have very cheap power, and 1/3 of mining income goes to power right now.  Many areas pay 3 times as much for power.  I will leave that math to you, heh.

Question on hashing power...

My wafflepool stat shows 2.5-2.68Mh/s while my cgminer shows 505khs, at 6 cards it should be 3.0+.

I have noticed it seems to drop depending upon the coin, is this normal, my miner has the patched kalroth with the noclient reconnect.

Should i expect to see hash power drop depending upon the coins?

K. i'm brand new and don't know how to do the kalroth patch to cgminer.

I have searched it and don't understand the explanations. The only thing I have ever adjusted on cgminer is the config file, so baby steps- or even a link to babysteps- would be much appreciated.

thanks much

My old GPU's are 280x and 7950 both have 3G.  Will these be sufficient as N increases over time and will I have to be re-tuning cards every time N goes up?

Depends on the coin you're mining.  If you set it up to allocate 2680 MB or so (just guessing what it might be), you'll be good at lookup-gap = 2 until N=12.  You'll have to fiddle with LG at that point.  Anytime N changes though you want to fiddle with your settings - it's not always obvious what the best settings will be.  Sometimes running a lower lookup gap and limiting the intensity (using --rawintensity) gives better performance than going with a higher LG and using all the shaders.

For YACoin at N=14, My R7 250 GB card started at 1.6 KH/sec using the OLD yacminer.  After I updated the software and figured out how to configure it properly, I found settings that gave me 2.5 KH/sec.  I ran with that for a month before experimenting with lowering the LG by 1 and limiting the shaders.  I got an extra 8% hashrate by doing this.  I will eventually be releasing a spreadsheet or web application for y'all to put your settings into to get the same kinds of results, but it won't be until the algorithms are integrated into YACMiner.  I still have one performance metric to come up with a formula for, but I've got quite a bit of data for it now.

I had 4G in mining box for a while and I noticed the 7950 would occasionally start at 700+ KHs mining scrypt but my box kept crashing (memtest discovered bad stick of  system ram) .  What is a reasonable hashrate for 7950?  Now that I am only 2G sysram I have to restart miner multiple times to get 559 KHs average (and it will remain at this average for long time [days]) , it only gets an average 500KHs on some starts and remains there.  Any thoughts on why this can be consistently occuring? I just restart miner and it stabilizes at 559 again.  I have not changed anything in my config (other than quota percentages) for a month or so and wonder if that time it was getting 700+ was a fluke or what or is there some relation to amount of ram.  As I had to remove defective stick of sysram could this have had such a dramatic effect, I am only running single channel single stick of ram for now till I upgrade to 8G for the move to scrypt-n.

I could pull the 8G from my day-to-day normal usage box and try that and see what happens boosting miner to 8G, but my motto "Don't F with it if it if it's not broken".  I will get some ram on order as soon as I can afford it.

Anyone care to donate 8G DDR2-800 (4 sticks of 2G) that they are not using? LOL.
PM me if you can make a good deal Smiley I have over 17M MOON that I have mined and am holding atm. Holding some other alt-coins as well.  Let me know what your choice to cryptocurrency is and I will look to see what I have ...

thnx Smiley  found the line to add to config  >>    "no-client-reconnect" : true,

but is that all i need to do? there was a lot of other code- not in the config file- listed on the information pages for the patch.  Do i need to do something elsewhere than the config file also?

edit-- ohhhh. no, I am running cgminer 3.7.2.  well, lol, it runs with the extra line, so I'll leave it till I have time to figure the next one out.  thanks for the input.

Did you download kalroths edition?  That no client wont work on normal cgminer from what i understand

Kalroth's miner is a fork of 3.7.2 and will show you version 3.7.3 as it starts up (if you have 20140324 version correctly installed or have recompiled for you linux users).  As stated in earlier posts it will have no effect on prior versions and the config line will be ignored without any warning as far as I know.

From coinedup:

Order Book (AUR/BTC)
(last: 0.00349650) (mov: 0.00448663)

An interesting read here: http://rt.com/op-edge/iceland-auroracoin-financial-crisis-825/

I have changed quotas and now mining 10% on AUR, waffle still remaining at 30%.

@poolwaffle, once again I am asking should the pool jump on AUR?

Just noticed the payouts have halved, now 12.5/block.  Value of AUR should be on the rise on the markets. Glad I am holding some coins Smiley

Nice!

Hi!

Guess its time to shut down my farm, if the prices get bellow of 0.005 per mh, its no profitable to mine, the cost of electricity will eat away any profit!

My questions are...
- Show i sell the mining rigs? Im asking that because i don´t know if the value will ever come up to 0.01 per 1 mh.
- There is any alternative atm?

- I have atm 4 rigs and 8.3 mhash of combined processing power

I just feel i have missed a train... i started in January and since that time it have come downhilll... value of alt-coins lowered, btc price crashed...
Now what?

Maybe try out some N-Scrypt mining. Vert, RT2, GPU, SPA. Some options.

In my opinion the gridseed will kick gpu's from Scrypt, same as before the Asics kicked the Gpu from sha coins.  I've said that before and some users said that will never happen, well, I'm not an expert but I think this is already happening, slowly yes, but just wait a bit the next gridseed generation.
Gpu's will need to move, I did it already, I just mine Scrypt-N coins, waiting to maybe wafflepool or another one makes a multipool of Scrypt-N coins.
