In 2006, Amazon pioneered cloud computing where data is stored, managed, and processed using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet rather than in local servers or personal computers. Today, millions of business around the world use Amazon Web Services (AWS). An increasing number of non-profit and research organizations are also using the platform to do complex data research

Dr. Vogels cited HARA Token, a tech startup in Indonesia that Amazon supports, as an example.
