According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Just so nobody is confused (new thread page), the posts above were in response to a joke post:

Whoa?! WTF just happened........BtcGuild just gang-banged the blockchain....

Just testing my top secret QuantumMiner.  Pre-order it today for $100,000!  Estimated release date is 2 weeks*!

I've been informed by ASICMINER that there is currently an inventory shortage for new USB Block Erupters.  This will cause an approximately 1 week delay for placing new orders.

This will not affect any current backorders, or the coupon units.  At this time I have ordered approximately 450 more units than what is in backorder, and all of those ordered units have already shipped from ASICMINER.  Later today I will update the order process so that once those extra units run out, you will be alerted of the above normal delay to obtain new units.

DNS has been updated in the last 24 hours to point stratum.btcguild.com to a new set of colocated servers.  These servers are faster, at a better datacenter, and with faster connections to the outside world to reduce stales, while having work done with the datacenter to help with upstream filtering.

If you are connecting by direct IP to a US stratum server, please update your miners to 50.31.189.44, 50.31.189.45, or 50.31.189.46.  EU servers are not affected.

The old US Stratum servers will be taken offline over the next 1-2 weeks.  This should not be an issue unless you're connecting by IP rather than DNS.

Guess that explains the small share shifts and stale storm I saw... Sad

It shouldn't have been that noticeable.  Only 1/3rd of US users would have possibly noticed (one server was shut down early, but DNS had been removed from that server for over 24 hours), and the switch should be nearly instant unless your mining software hangs or falls to a backup before reconnecting.

Unfortunately, there really is no way to do a fully clean transparent migration, DNS is finnicky and mining software isn't perfect at reconnecting.  The goal is this is as painless as possible, which is why the other two old servers are being kept online for the next few weeks.  Ideally there will only be a handful of users still mining on the old servers by the time they turn off.

Probably a combination (a perfect storm if you will) of DNS fun + crappy cable service flaking out... Smiley Want a fun day at work, have a flaky recursive server act up... Then the calls of 'the internet is slow' start and never end....

The pool now has a Facebook page which I will try to keep updated with news posts for the pool.  Useful for those who want to check pool news on a phone without logging in, or if the site is under attack and inaccessible.

International Sales are now available on the ASIC Store page!

UPDATE:  Requests to lie on the customs declaration will be ignored.  I will not be a party to your attempt to evade taxes/duties by falsifying the information on the form.  Amounts will be declared using approximate wholesale values, denominated in USD.

I get asked this all the time on eBay. I just do not think people in other countries realize just how serious such a thing as falsifying a customs declaration can be in the post 911 USA...

Ditto.  I don't agree with it, but I'm not going to misstate info.

eleuthria, Do you have better instructions to get the little USB miners working? This does not work, I've tried many times and when you click apply on the shortcut a message pops up saying this is not configured right Sad

I'm not sure how I can give you better instructions.  The full set of options are listed directly above that picture (the picture is just there to show you which box to type it into).  After '.exe' (the end of the target box by default), you enter the -o http://stratum.btcguild.com:3333 -u eleuthria_1 -p 123 -G -S all --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100

(ignore -G if you want to GPU mine on the same machine).
