Website is running extremely slow, but is not down.  Looking into what is happening to cause it to slow down so much.

Rebooting the website machine now.  I've made a few config tweaks to apache2 and also some kernel settings.  Hopefully the site should be back to normal once it finishes restarting.

UPDATE: So far things are looking good!
UPDATE2:  One more swift reboot and now things are looking much better!

Oh, so Stratum now works over port 80?
No?
Then that's why I A) remain on getwork and B) use Bitminter to begin with.

When Stratum works over port 80 I will A) celebrate because all my miners are updated cgminer anyhow and i can just drop the port specification and B) remain on Bitminter.

Not sure what your point(s) are, but why wouldn't stratum work on port 80?  Of course it does.  Or I may be missing your point(s)?

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.

@eleuthria... I now found that stratum allows merged mining. Judging from this site: http://dustcoin.com/mining merged mining would now result in around 7% more income when merge mining other coins together with bitcoins. Yesterday it was 9%. And a week ago NMC alone was 13%. That is because of the rising exchange price of bitcoins.
So i wonder why merged mining isnt enabled. It would bring way more extra money than the transaction fees of bitcoin gives. And this by mining the same amount of bitcoins plus other coins on top.

If BTC Guild will never merge mine... what pools allow stratum merge mining with as many other coins as possible?

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

Currently automatic payouts are only allowed in 0.10 intervals.  Looking at changing this shortly.

Very well then, what is the port 80 address to point my stratum capable miners to?

1) Automatic payouts are now available in 0.0x intervals.
2) Port 80 stratum may happen, but is not currently planned (the majority of port 80 mining is done by botnets, there are very few legit reasons for miners to require port 80)
3) I have no plans to add merged mining to my Stratum code.  Nothing about any new protocol prohibits merged mining.  However, I would have to do significant research to figure out how to build proper merged mining coinbases, and then rely on running namecoind on the nodes.  That's just yet another point of failure.  NMC is only worth something right now because somebody spent ~50 BTC a few weeks ago to Pump & Dump the price.  It has no future.

I was talking about the Stratum protocol and not BTCGild per se.

Same here.  My stratum.btcguild.com connections are all mining, but not a single one is showing shares on the dashboard.  Hopefully the work is being logged Smiley
