I'm just curious: is there a technical reason for NMC only paid out to PPLNS miners,
or is it more like a political decision (motivate users towards PPLNS)? Or something
even else?

it would be good to have a separate thread for the shop

Aside from the troll, it hasn't taken up that much space on the thread.  It's also easier to keep it all in one place.  However, I don't anticipate the shop requiring many more news updates.  The price can only drop so many times.

I really thought I was going to be able to maintain that 24 hour turnaround, but there were 3 *huge* orders after I put out the coupons.  I didn't think that many would use them, but I also didn't factor in that I gave out over 8,000 coupons.  Aside from the 3 huge orders, there would still be a decent inventory on hand, and I already had a new order with friedcat being made.  Hopefully it's only temporary.

It's a mixture of both.  I personally want more users on PPLNS because I'd rather take 3% with minimal/no risk than 7.5% and have months where I lose money and other months where I hit a jackpot.  It also eliminates a significant number of database inserts/updates by simply piggybacking the reward system on the already existing PPLNS tables.

As of this morning, the pool has been updated to default new workers to a difficulty of 2.  Manually changing workers to Diff=1 is still an option, and previously created workers are unchanged.

This is being done for a few reasons, but mostly to help new users.  The majority of new accounts these days are running at minimum 1 GH/s, and normally quite a bit more.  As a result, they were having their difficulty increased shortly after connecting already, so this just eliminates the need for that vardiff adjustment step.

from a pool user point of view, I dont want to uave to sift through pages to find posts about the pool. All the besy to the store, I just have no need to read about it or people getting therr sticks while I just want indormation about the pool

It's unlikely that you'll have to.  Besides threads on this forum get so big that it's difficult to find information in them even if they stick 100% on topic.

I'm starting to see these messages appear in cgminer output:
"[2013-08-22 22:08:56] Accepted untracked stratum share from pool 0"

Can someone explain why?
This is using eu-stratum.btcguild.com with PPLNS.

Sounds like the share was accepted.  I have no idea what an 'untracked stratum share' is though.  Nothing has changed on pool code since merged mining was added back months ago.  What hardware are you using?  Is there a stratum proxy involved?  Which version of cgminer?

UPDATE: Apparently it means you got back a response with an RPC ID your software doesn't remember sending.  Can't say why that would happen, but would definitely point to a local issue (the server code for RPC id responses hasn't changed in over 8 months).  However, it isn't really an "issue".  Your shares were accepted.

Not quite sure what the proper forum for reselling your coupons would be, but that's definitely not something I want clogging the pool thread.  The pool thread is mostly for mining, and big updates to the store (Price changes, inventory shortages/arrivals).

Your best bet for trying to resell coupons would probably be IRC, or creating a larger thread in the custom hardware forum where multiple people can organize them in one thread/group of threads.

Geez Cheezwiz.  Huh Really?

OP, sorry. Deleted my post and followed your advice. I created a thread in custom hardware.
Anyone else who would like to sell some coupons is welcome to post as well. Thanks Eleuthria.

Technically is it not possible for the pool to setup a new type of distribution where the miner will get the full block reward (less the pool fee if any) who ever finds that block? Or do we have such pools (solo mining pool) already? I like to take a slight risk and go for an option like this one but i do not want to setup a local pool myself.
I want to see something like this on btcguild as well Smiley

ozcoin provided such an option but apparently no one wanted it.

but I also didn't factor in that I gave out over 8,000 coupons.

This just hit me.  You mean to say you have sold over 8,000 Block Erupters?!?
