I got my new R606, plugged it into my new ubuntu install on my laptop, and WHAM, running at 781GB with just the defaults.

Next question:  I believe after reading the posts that the current version of cgminer autotunes.  Does that mean I just need to increase the vCore using the buttons on the R606 to increase the rate?  Or do I need to use the settings for cgminer to set the frequency?  Or both?

Both.  First at Power Level 4 set your frequency target to, say 725Mhz, and see what it autotunes to.  Then bump it up to Voltage Level 5 and start over, repeat until you find the sweet spot you want to run at.  You need to make sure you have a power supply that can support that though.  The 8Amp block can't supply power to the level of what the unit can do, most likely.  I use an ATX P/S to power my units.

Glad you got everything up and running.

Is there a reason that I should just start at the highest power and frequency and then just back up from there?  I'm using a Bitmain power supply from my old L3 so that should have plenty of power.

The miners will peak at a certain power level and frequency combination.  You usually want to achieve your target hash at the lowest power consumption possible.  It's good to use a power meter as well.  If you start at the high end you will be consuming more power than necessary for a given hash rate.

I guess what I'm saying is I want my target to be as high as possible.  Is there a harm to setting the frequency and power to it's highest setting and then backing down?  I don't want to burn anything out.  What is the highest frequency?  If I increase the power all the way and just let it autotune, will that do it?  Sorry to be so dense.

The highest frequency you really want to go is 750Mhz.  Some units will go higher but will consume allot more power for very little hash rate gain.  I have one unit that will do 1Ths at voltage level 5.  Why set it to voltage level 7 or the same 1Ths?

I would shoot for 750Mhs at voltage level 5 or 6.  But try them all and see where your unit falls.  It's pretty rare to have to go to voltage level 7.  But each unit is a little different.

That's my suggestion anyway.

What are you running them on? Windoze? Linux based OS? What power supply are you using?

If you are running on Windoze plug in both units and run zadig and make sure both are using the WinUSB driver.

as os2sam said, you have to run zadig  to update the drivers for every unit attached to windows. by default even after installed one, windows will default to the wrong driver when you plug a new one in.

I received my first R606 and it was DOA.  The device could be seen, but no chips could be found.  I called the vendor and they sent another one which is working great.  They didn't want the old one back, but I just can't get my head wrapped around just tossing it.  Is there someplace I can send it for repairs?

yes. miner went from 750 gh avg to 925 gh avg with no other changes than switching it over to the pi.

what pi do you have?

and where are the images for the pi.

my r606 is like f you phil I am downclocking to 175mhz

not sure what has happened to it.

i been running it on win ten for a few years with no issues.

so not sure why it now wants to run at 175-187mhz vs the 600 mhz i set it to.

Did your Windoze PC do an update recently? If so perhaps it has messed up working with the Zadig USB driver...

Also don't use a USB Hub, go straight into the PC.  Mine wouldn't go over 200Mhz when I used a Hub.

Hello All,

Relatively new to the mining scene and trying to learn with some USB sticks how to configure CG miner.  Ran into an issue.   I have CG miner version 4.10 that was running two BFL Jalpenos and a Block disruptor.  I recently acquired a NewPac BM1387.  All four devices are plugged into an Anker USB 3.0 external hub with a usb fan for active cooling.

CG Miner 4.10 didn't detect the Gekko miner but the link to their version did but didn't detect the other miners.  So Currently I have two instances of CG miner open (Version 4.10 for older miners and 4.11.1 for the Gekko Science one.

If the CG miners are ran solo the devices run fine however, if I try to run with both instances open I get an the following error "USB init open device failed, err -3 you don't have privilege to access - BSC device " on the CG miner 4.11.1.  Even while getting this error on the CG 4.11.1 miner the other miner (4.10.0) continues to run fine with no errors.

Any thoughts on that causes this behavior?    I tried to limit the number of USB devices on the first miner to see if that fixed it unfortunately it didn't.  Below is the config I am currently using for the CG 4.10 miner.

Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "stratum+tcp://us-east.stratum.slushpool.com:3333",
"user" : "[Redacted]",
"pass" : ""
}
],

"failover-only" : true,
"no-submit-stale" : true,
"api-listen" : true,
"api-port" : "4028",
"api-allow" : "W:192.168.1.0/24,W:127.0.0.1",
"--usb" :"3"
}

When you build vh's CGminer just enable the icarus interface.  Unless your using Windoze, I guess.

As for CGMiner trying to initialize miners in the wrong instance check the readme's on telling it to not to use one type of miner.  I think it was something like -jal:0 but i can't remember for sure now.  It's been over five years since I used my block erupters and Jalapeno.  But the info is in the readme's and on ck's CGMiner thread.

I am using Windows 10.  read through the read me and found something about limiting through driver.  However, when I save my config and try to run I can't tell it is limiting anything  Undecided  Below is my current config file.  Even when I set all the values to 0 it still mines like the line isn't there lol.  Is my syntax correct for that line?

Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "stratum+tcp://us-east.stratum.slushpool.com:3333",
"user" : "[Redacted]",
"pass" : ""

Ditch the config file altogether.  Many of the advances switches aren't supported.  Plus it hard to see what you are really doing.  Just use the command line switches and create a .bat file when you get it right.

"--usb": "BAS:1,BFL:2,MMQ:0,ICA:0,KLN:0,AVA:0,BF1:0,DRB:0,HFA:0"

I thought I was pretty sure the Jalapeno was JAL:2.  Again it has been a while so I could be wrong I guess.  Do you have all those other miners too?  Just put in what you need.

Edit: Nope you're right  it's "--usb BAS:2, ICA:19" or whatever number you have of BE's.
