Well, at least Ireland and Scotland are not playing with foreign players like players from India/Pakistan in the team. We can see a lot of teams absolutely made out of 9-11 foreign players. At least this is better than that. I think there should be a fund allocation system for the teams set. It will actually be great for the associate nations to get money based on performance. Because sometimes they will be able to beat teams which are bigger compared to them. Teams like Ireland and Scotland can actually be beaten by associate teams who are not very well known. So that can be a huge thing for them.

But remember giving money based on performance is not going to work in the top 10.

I know that we have actually discussed the issue before. But I also know that this is going to be discussed as long as the ICC does not take any actual serious actions against it. It does not matter how the fund is getting distributed. A team, a national team simply cannot have foreign players in the squad at all.

The match against Ireland was well played by Scotland.  Scotland scored 213 runs for 6 wickets after playing the entire 20 overs.  There Ireland has scored 188 runs for 8 wickets so far.  Ireland need 26 runs from 13 balls  Ireland are playing well in the last moment but whether they can collect these runs and win the match is still in have doubt. Its unfortunate that cricket has been made joke by rich countries who can afford importing players from South Asia. ICC still is not clear about how to manage cricket and run the affairs. Anyone who has money can take driving seat in ICC. Right now ICC is completely controlled by big 3 and small boards have no say in ICC affairs. As long as there is no neutral entity that is controlling ICC we will keep on seeing such issues and there will be no one to resolve these issues.

Well actually, it is good to see the ICC at least making a World Cup with 20 teams. Personally, I concur with the notion that designating the United States as the host nation is truly their sole avenue for World Cup qualification. I think this World Cup is going to be played by 20 teams for two reasons.

First of all look who is getting a free pass to the World Cup. If it was anything less than 20 teams in the World Cup, a lot of teams were going to miss out who are actually far better than USA in cricket. I still think that somethings are better compared to the USA who are not playing in the World Cup, but that’s another story.

Secondly, the World Cup is being played in the USA. So making the World Cup more competitive and one of the biggest is certainly going to bring in a good amount of money.

Today the first match of Sri Lanka Premier League Jaffna Kings vs Colombo Strikers has started. Colombo Strikers won the toss and elected to bowl. Jaffna Kings lost the toss and went into bat and collected 28 runs after losing 1 wicket in 3 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was dismissed for 21 runs off 11 balls. Naseem Shah got the first wicket. Secondly, the World Cup is being played in the USA. So making the World Cup more competitive and one of the biggest is certainly going to bring in a good amount of money.

You cannot expect a competitive World Cup with 20 teams who does not have the skill level anywhere near to compete against the top 5 teams. The venue is US and the only country that does not have a fan base for Football and Cricket and may be ICC is trying their best to tap that part of the market. There is a newfound interest in Football and Cricket among the general public in US after lockdown as many popular social media influencers from US started posting about the sport and reviewing the videos.

From this list,I had some opinion who will qualify the quarter and semifinal.If United States had their entry to the game,it will be some new game to view.United States will start their cricket carrier from this World Cup.Mostly the US will not be included,So we wait and see.West Indies was very eager to win the World Cup this time,because they are not entire the World Cup semifinal for a long period.

So West Indies had huge pressure to satisfy their own people.Australia also had the same pressure,because in 2019 Australia never qualify for the finals.So being the top team,they will enter the Semi Finals this time.Since England was the winner of 2019,So they will enter the Semifinal.India hosting the World Cup this time,So they will be the third team to enter the Semifinal.South Africa will be the Fourth team to enter the Semifinal.Actually the fourth place will be fight between South Africa and New Zealand.
