I've listed my reasons why I think Volkanovski won, but the judges see it different, and Volk knows that better than we do. So, he's got work to do in the rematch, since he'll need to convincingly beat Islam. Hopefully, via a finish.
I am just saying that Volkanovski can't be best pound for pound fighter, despite his great performance, he lost the fight. Now I am hearing news of Islam's mother saying that she wants to see him quit fighting, and we all remember that was the reason Khabib retired from MMA at the top. We don't know if Islam will do this, but in my opinion this is two different situation and Khabib is much better than both of this fighters, but we can only test this in virtual games now. https://www.lowkickmma.com/islam-makhachev-mother-wants-him-retire/It is only a common practice that a p4p king losses that recognition if it lost its next fight even if it was outside of its normal division. But technically, it is not really a guarantee. The fight was very close and could've went either way tbh. P4p ranking is based on fighters' divisions and Volkanovski still seems invincible in his division. Let's see if Makachev will listen to his mother since his dad seems to support him all the way. I believe Makachev will continue with his career. Still too many big and winnable fights for him. Instead of a rematch, I personally would love to see him defend his belt against either Oliveira and Poirier, or even Gaethji (needs a win first before facing Makachev). Personally, I am actually going to like a rematch. Because it needs to be settled. And I don't see this rematch happening if it does not happen right now. Because if Islam Makhachev gets too much hooked up with the title race, Volcanovsky will probably not see a rematch anytime soon. The way I see it right now is the ball is in the court of Islam Makhachev. Give Volcanovsky a rematch, if he wants. He can also go after the title if he wants. In both ways, he's going to be benefited. But the best is going to be him going for the title in my opinion. However, if UFC thinks about the pay per view, I think a rematch is going to make a lot more sense

I still dont understand why fighters care so much about pound for pound ranking. It does not mean that the fighter on the first place of this ranking is current worlds mma best fighter. There are so many promotion, that it is impossible to tell who really is the best. And there are "diamonds" that simply train, but never go professional. Even though they can beat lots of pros. Dont understand why there is so much talk about Islam or Volkanovski being top1 pound for pound. You dont get an extra belt for being top1 p4p, you dont get any extra payment bonuses for that.
It just means that wherever weight division you are, you are still the best fighter in all of them. That's why fighters who are strong enough to beat everyone in their weight division are willing to go up to conquer it and become the champion there. Until they reach their limit and when that happens, they deserve to challenge the current No.1 pound-for-pound fighter. Luckily for Islam, he managed to beat Volkanovski because of those takedowns and a few strikes because he just experiences for the first time in his career as a pro-UFC fighter how a real contender fought and he just merely won that fight.

If we judge pfp by that logic Connor Mcgregor is the pfp because he is the only fighter to have won belts in 3 different divisions but we all know that Connor Mcgregor is past his prime and probably could not beat any of the top 5 in the 155lbs division. I think Islam deserves the pfp title because no one else is a double champion and I think he can move down a division and take the belt from Volkanovski

Conor never had 3 belts, he only held 2 belts simultaneously, and was third fighter who was a champ of two divisions. I would argue that Conor could be top1 p4p when he was in his prime, surely he deserves a place, but not top3 p4p. If not mistaken, then by the time Conor was in his prime Jon Jones was top1 p4p. No chance Conor would move that guy from the Olympus Or Demetrious Johnson with his 11 title defences.

Sorry I thought he bad 3 belts but 2 belts is better then a lot of people that are on the p4p leader board. He was the 1st person to get 2 belts in 2 different divisions and he is still actively fighting. Jon Jones is only just returning from a long hiatus and might not be the same fighter he was a couple of years ago. He is going against Gane who could beat him easily because Jon might be very rusty. I agree if Jon Jones can perform like he did years ago I think he is the true p4p and is better then most fighters today and I can only see Gane and Ngannou having a chance against him.

You don't have to be a fighter to figure out people like status. It's what drives our world, it's the reason there's competitions, and recognition for the highest performing in all sports. It's taught at a young age, that being the best is something to be proud of. So, yeah I think most people understand it. Even if the pound for pound title isn't exactly that official its a lot more subjective than the other achievements, such as belts. I don't get caught up too much in the nitty gritty of the pound for pound because it's so subjective. Although, I also believe that you shouldn't lose that supposed title if you've moved up, and got beaten by someone who is much larger than you. Conor was probably the pound for pound champ in his peak, he dominated. Jon Jones is hard to gauge because he never really steeped out of his division until now. Then you've obviously got Khabib who also didn't try to take over other divisions, and stay put. I mean Khabib was brilliant, but his career in the UFC was rather short, so while he remained undefeated up to his retirement, there's no teller what could've happened given a little bit longer. A lot of fighters go on a streak to then later lose in their latter stages of their career, that's something normal, and somewhat expected.

I think the more a champ has defended his title, he can remain to be the top p4p list and Volkanovski did it many times in his division. But I think he is now replaced by Islam since he is not a champ anymore.
Given that he wasn't knockout in thier fight, Dana will be obliged to really give him a chance to regain back the position. It will be one great story of his life if Alex can climb back to the top 1 again.

I don't think that fighters care so much about that p4p rating, it's more UFC and Dana White who cares about this, and in many cases it does not represent correct situation. There are other independent MMA websites that have different pound for pound ratings, for ESPN best pound for pound fighter is Islam Makhachev, and on other website they placed Francis as number one and free agent: https://rankingmma.com/p4p/

I love Islam but he doesn't deserve the p4p title. The match was close enough and Volk was division up. Volk didn't lose anything from this, he is still champ at 145 and proved what kind of a man he is. I can't wait the rematch. Neither Islam lost much, stayed champ next fight with Volk will be huge, big ppv money incoming. At the end it will be a really good year for fans since so many good fights are coming.

Well, I can definitely say that Makhachev was very dizzy after the fight with Volkanovski It's getting a little bit boring how they listen to their parents, etc. Don't get me wrong but yeah, it was okay with Khabib but we don't need a copy/paste, a person should be more individual. I really hope there will be a fight between Makhachev and Dustin Poirier. Poirier is my favorite UFC fighter, his boxing style is really great. The sad fact is that wrestling is his Achilles’ heel. So, I'm afraid he will lose against Makhachev because Dagestani people are great at wrestling and when it comes to MMA, this gives them advantage over boxers. Btw Dustin Poirier vs Alexander Volkanovski would be the fight I wanna watch. I love boxing, wrestling makes a show less attractive for me. Sorry I thought he bad 3 belts but 2 belts is better then a lot of people that are on the p4p leader board. He was the 1st person to get 2 belts in 2 different divisions and he is still actively fighting.
Well, Conor has been on vacation since July 10, 2021. He broke his leg when he was fighting Poirier. Conor was amazing during his prime, once he become very rich, he started to spend a lot of time on parties, coke and girls and less time on training. I think the more a champ has defended his title, he can remain to be the top p4p list and Volkanovski did it many times in his division. But I think he is now replaced by Islam since he is not a champ anymore.

This is pretty much what I have been posting here. Volk, that in Russian language means wolf, deserves the p4p title. A match that was draw in reality, shouldn't give Makhachev p4p title.

Aw! against Alexa Grasso one of my fighting kittens I surely love this girl and she is also a brand ambassador for stake.com alongside Israel Adesanya, recently with Marlon Vera but it has changed to Jailton Almeida, well for me Valentina Shevchenko surely has the power but Alexa Grasso is showing potential with her technical approach even though there is a high chance that Alexa Grasso could be defeated here, for me when she gives her all and gives on a good fight she is still be the winner for me, I do agree with you that we need rematch Volk vs Islam, but I see now Islam is already asking for his next opponent, that means mother, Volk and retirement will have to wait And Alexander Volkanovski seems to be serious about a rematch with Islam Makhachev, which he actually reports on his Twitter in response to the call of Islam, so perhaps we can expect this soon, judging by the number of views and likes of the Volk tweet. https://twitter.com/alexvolkanovski/status/1628318637571592192Alexander Volkanovski now has the feel of fighting Islam Makhachev this could be a great time to have a rematch before that feeling is gone it goes to show how deep knowledge he got from fighting Makhachev and that he is very confident in challenging him, also Islam Makhachev said aswell that Volk is a new experience for him and I think both really need this fight so badly But for me Islam Makhachev all the way, now that coach Khabib Nurmagomendov is back they will surely correct the wrong things Makhachev has done and Khabib will surely be on Makhachev side this time so the confidence for Islam Makhachev is still there, and that means that Islam Makhachev is not only the opponent for Volkanovski but Khabib Nurmagomenodov aswell,

I'll get my predictions out soonish. Although, I'm probably not betting on this weekend. There's more interesting events coming up, and more opportunity to earn in my opinion. At the moment, I'm thinking Nikita Krylov gets it done against Spann, André Muniz against Brenden Allen, for not other reason than being the less experienced fighter, and the fact that Allen has let me down in the past, and finally I'm thinking that Tatiana Suarez gets the job done, probably via decision. There's a few pieshitters as tokeweed would say on this event, so I'd be careful with the odds being offered. A lot of them are a lot wider than the actual fights will show. It's a good event, I think they'll be some decent competitive fights, I just know the Jon Jones event is going to be even better, and I want to make the most of that weekend with whiskey, and food .

First, why "Every" fighter? Why with capital letter ? Not every fighter wants to be on top position of p4p, some fighters just like to fight, some dont have champions ambitions. For example Clay Guida - the just loves to fight. He is ready to fight anyone, anywhere, anytime. Look at his record and opponents. They are not top. When you are 40+ and you are not a heavyweight, you dont aim to become a champ or rank 1 p4p. But this guys just keep testing himself. Second, a fighter aims to be champ, but not rank 1 p4p. How can a person be claimed as best fighter if there are weight classes? Get any top5 heavyweight in octagon with featherweights champion and see who will win. Third - about the diamonds I am talking. Dont need to go far for example. Take a Dagestani fighter, that is not in UFC or any other big mma promotion. I think he will fit greatly. People even say, that in every Dagestan small village lives either worlds mma or wrestling champion. For example close to my home, in kickboxing gym trains a guy who often flies to train to Sweden with Chimaev, Till, Gustafsson. Helps them to prepare for fights there and in Thailand (he is one of their sparring partners in striking). The guy is really cool, but scouts does not contact him. It cant be that he is scared or is a newbie. Otherwise they did not call him for help.

Since this weeks event is going to "not very interesting", and probably lots of you are going to skip and just watch replays, then I suggest you to spend few minutes and visit UFC 30th anniversary page. UFC has been with us for 30 years already. Just scroll down and swipe right UFC history. Lots of cool stuff there (that easily can be found on YouTube). I was first introduced to UFC probably in 2009-2010, the time I've got unlimited fast internet and accidentally found KO compilation videos on YouTube. My interest to UFC has developed to downloading events from torrents, converting them and watching on iPhone small screen them during lectures Now I watch almost every UFC event on huge TV on a fight channel

At this point, I feel like this argument is just going on because people are not talking to understand but talking to argue. Any fighter if given the chance or the option, is going to choose to be the best in almost everything. So of course it is expected for any fighter to actually want to be the best pound for pound. Now, are there fighters who just want to make a living out of it? Yes, there are. But the majority will of course try to go for the first spot in anything. Secondly, I do not believe that anyone is going to train with fighters and even help them train and not train for a fight himself. At least not the majority. Because watching the other fighters fight, there will be an itch inside to fight competitively. So I don't believe that someone who is closely related to all these does not want to fight. In most cases, it's because they don't have the best options.

My interest to UFC has developed to downloading events from torrents, converting them and watching on iPhone small screen them during lectures Now I watch almost every UFC event on huge TV on a fight channel I'd say if some of you guys likes betting on the UFC, it's good to watch the matches of all of the events. Saves you time from the ol' tape study stuff. And if you do need to watch the replays, you could skip some parts of the match since you'll most likely remember and get how one guy won, how the other guy lost, whether the win was a fluke, etc etc... And it's always good to drop a little bet and make it more interesting. That's why I like full event parlays as I don't need to bet a lot. I could set my lottery tickets and hope the top ticket wins so I break even and could make another bet for the next event.

UFC has been with us for 30 years already. Just scroll down and swipe right UFC history. Lots of cool stuff there (that easily can be found on YouTube). To be fair, almost every fight is interesting. Apart from that Rose vs Carla fight, don't get me started on that one. However, most fights are entertaining. I get a lot of fans don't like the wrestling aspect, but I enjoy that part as much as the striking, especially a high level grappling fight. It's just less big names, and that's all really. Jon Jones has a pull to the UFC just because of his reputation, and the fact he's a brilliant fighter. However, this event might actually be more entertaining overall. I guess it depends on the person, but I enjoy MMA regardless who's fighting. I know there's a stigma against the women in MMA, which I also don't agree with. I find them just as entertaining, and they can be extremely technical.

There's potentially a lot of pie shtters in the next event.
Who are the pie shitters @tokeweed @welsh? I plan on betting on the three WMMA and probably Span but I will be putting a Jon Jones Submission on the bet if the lines open up again. I am now using Stake to wager my bets but they do not have any of the finish lines open yet. I might just put Jon Jones to win if it does not open before this event. I think I might go for go the distance on all 3 of the WMMA.
