Rofl ok...  From the looks of it Real doesn’t have a midfield screen like I thought or I would’ve liked to think.  Chelsea could more likely get one away goal.

They could've gotten more within just the first 12 minutes, but they've got one on the score board already and it's been all Chelsea since the game started.

I hope going one goal behind changes the approach of the game by Real Madrid.

Seeing that line up without Ramos playing made me think twice about backing Madrid and my instinct was spot on !

Real Madrid now have a lot of work to do and so far they aren't showing the hunger to win it ,of course they have comeback from worse scorelines but Chelsea seems to have come prepared for the party!

Chelsea is much better so far and they are in total control of the game but it will not be enough in the end. Just as I was writing this Real scored one back. Great reaction from Benzema. That is Real strength, they can get result even when playing like shit.

Werner had a 100% chance while it was still 0:0, you have to score chances like that in CL semi finals, otherwise you get punished.

My prediction is correct this time, matches with high intensity up to both teams to score and over 1.5 have occurred in this first half. With this result, I personally am more confident Madrid will win, even though Chelsea made several good chances but it looks like it will still be difficult for Chelsea to win here. But yes, Madrid's defense is not very good I think and that is a consideration for me and playing in the rain is a challenge for the players.

Chelsea have had the better chances of the 45 minutes, but they're failing to convert those opportunities which might eventually hunt them, Benzema as usual being Real Madrid go to guy when they need some momentum.

Timo Werner looks really absent minded and he's not as sharp as a guy leading the line should be, he makes runs for passes to be directed his way but when they're he's almost like never wanted the pass.

Great game so far, not as boring as I would have expected.

Chelsea played pretty well in the first half, they have managed to steal an important goal in the 14th minute. Seeing the progress of the match in the first half, I don't dare say Real madrid can win this fight, because Chelsea also has a mission to win this match. But within 45 minutes of the second half, any possibility can happen. If there are no more goal, Chelsea benefited greatly from away goals has got in the first half.

I would prefer to see Chelsea win in the first leg even if they have to work harder. So far the first half has gone as expected and both team scored and ended the first half 1-1. I still want Chelsea to score at least 2 more goals if they want to have a 50% chance of qualifying and my expected final score is 1-3 or more. Nothing is impossible as long as the match is still going on.

I agree that Real Madrid will win. I just do not see them losing this one out because they are such a great team when it comes down to champions league, they have always been greater at champions league than any other team when it comes down to difference they play. I do not mean that they are greatest champions league team (although they have record breaking number of it) I just mean they play so differently when it comes to champions league.

At any given year, at any given time, look at how Real Madrid plays in the league, in the cup, and how they play in champions league, they are such a different beast when it comes to champions league. This is why I think it is obvious that they will win because they are not as close as people assume. Real Madrid in the league versus Chelsea in champions league would have been close, chelsea would probably win, but Real in champions league will have a chance to win the title let alone just beat chelsea.

Benzema has to be one of the most underrated strikers of all time in the champions League with his 70 goal mark, making him the 5th top scorer in the champions League all time record, I hope he can be the difference for Real Madrid. In between, It would have been great to start Olivier Giroud in this game, it will be spectacular to see two french strikers go head on.

To be honest, I was quite surprised by the game that Chelsea showed playing so well. Even Chelsea can score a goal first, fortunately it won't be
long before Real Madrid can score a goal too. And again Benzema saves Madrid to stay alive, hopefully in the second half Zidane can slightly improve
the strategy used. Especially in defense, don't have too much open space, so it's very dangerous if Chelsea do a counter attack.

He came on as a substitute for this match in the second half because maybe Zidane expected something from him and as far as we know, Hazard failed in Madrid. But I think Chelsea are very good at managing the tempo even though they don't succeed in creating opportunities. Hope Ziyech makes a nice difference after signing in.

Yeah he is underrated because his performance is fluctuating from a bunch of games to another. He can score 2 goals and make the difference in one game and fail to score easy goals next. Overall he is a key player in Real Madrid

The truth is in the champions league knock out phase, a 1-1 draw with an away goal is never an advantage; it is safe to say that the tie is very much open and up for grabs. Not much chances were created and only Real Madrid looked like a team that wants to score as Chelsea sat back with 6 players; what would change in the second leg ? Will Ramos return make a difference ? Can Tuchel boys nick a win ?

Bale's contract is coming to an end. Real needs someone to replace his position on the bench and stadium tribune. 
Selling Hazard to Real is the best Chelsea job move in the Abramovich era. I have nothing against Hazard, I think he is one of the top 10 active players when is fit but this is more than an unfortunate set of circumstances.

I was very impressed with Chelsea performance  today they played very well and quite unlucky that the match ended in a draw they could have won the match had it been Werner had not wasteful in front of goal, they have an advantage now with away goal rule hopefully they finish up well in the return leg in Stanford bridge amif they can replicate today's performance again.
