Campher played well and remain not out at 59. McBrine gave him good support but none of the other batsmen can show any considerable performance.
Ireland need to improve a lot if they want to come at par with england.
Also DJ Willey bowled suberb today and took 5 wickets in the match.

Do any of you actually watch these one sided matches from start to finish? These matches are basically training matches for young English players. The only thing that surprised me was Ireland posting a target greater than 150 after their pathetic top order batting performance.

This is the first time that I heard of DJ Willey and he basically bowled out batsmen like a DJ which is why I probably will remember his name going forward.

Even i was not sure about the match but the England bowlers surprised me as well as the Irish batsman as they played some good innings in the warm up match but they batted like a shadow of their players. It is going to be an easy win for England and i wonder how Jason Roy is going to bat as he was dismissed for a duck in the warm up against Ireland.

Do any of you actually watch these one sided matches from start to finish? These matches are basically training matches for young English players. The only thing that surprised me was Ireland posting a target greater than 150 after their pathetic top order batting performance.

Even i did not watch the match as i was busy but after checking the score Ireland lost 7 wickets for 79 runs and then to score 172 runs is a good achievement as i would have placed a bet below 140 runs if i was online  .

Early damage hurts Ireland very badly otherwise its going to be very interesting match as tail enders done good job for them from 27/5 to 172 for all is good and in England inning bowlers was on target in first few overs but good partnership between Billings and Morgan bring them back in match and they won this very easily by 6 wickets.

England chased the target in about 27 overs. This means that if they had played first, they could have made over 300 runs which is just impossible for Ireland to chase in any circumstances. Even with the new team, England is a far better team than the Ireland who are newbies in the test cricket.

emmm,  Ireland has some good players but the team is not skilled like England. it is not wise to compare Ireland team to England. England is far better than Ireland. even we can see a battle on T-20 match. but I hope if England's fortunes are not extremely bad then they will easily win the match against Ireland .

This was a surprise the way they came back, I was expecting around 100 or so might get all out. But they manage to reach well till 172 as they lost quick 5 wickets. Though England chased the score well and won by 6 wickets. Ireland will have to bat well build the partnership initially and ensure they bat for full 50 overs.

I thought that they will not even reach 100 but to my surprise they were able to score above 150. Still in ODI a target like 172 means it was easy for the English team. Pathetic performance by the Irish side, they need to rethink their batting strategy.

Also, Ireland has some potential to make match tough as seen in the past, only thing they do not play much cricket so that experience might be lacking with them.

Ireland is playing cricket, they had a series with West Indies this year in January, if i remember correctly they defeated West Indies in T20 and leveled the series but they lost the ODI series and before that they were playing T20 World Cup qualifiers. I am not expecting Ireland to upset England in T20 but they can compete in the T20 format.

Now tomorrow we have second ODI between these two teams hopefully Ireland will perform some better and learn from mistakes which they done in first ODI thier top order was in hurry just because of this they lost some quick wickets and then unable to have some good target now time for some good work from top order for interesting and full second ODI.

There are injury concerns in the Ireland team as Barry McCarthy is injured and out of the series, if Ireland need to have a chance in the series the old players like Kevin O'Brien has to step up their performance and a good opening performance Paul Stirling could help them put a competitive score. Ireland need to find youngsters and give them the chance.

The team needs to have more matches first and against different teams like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc they should have tour. This would give them more matches to play and as a team they will grow better and later on can play against rest of the teams as well.

Do not expect any miracle from the Irish team. England should easily win the second ODI, the Irish team should concentrate on their batting and hopefully they understand it is not. a T20 or a T10 match but a 50 over match.

In past as well Ireland has won some matches against good team, only thing is that it is not consistent, and the reason is that they do not have many matches regularly with good teams. So, the exposure gets restricted and this will show up in the end. If they bat full 50 overs, they can end up making 250+ runs which can boost their confidence as well.

250+? No freaking way. Willey is on a role again and the Irish probably hate him the most right now. He continues picking wickets regularly and will probably become the Man of the Series at this rate.

I am expecting Ireland to post a score below 200 which England will probably chase down easily once again. Ireland winning a single match in this tournament would be phenomenal truthfully speaking.

I did not watch the match in full but did tune in time to time to see the action. However since today is weekend, i will watch the match in full if is interesting. No one wants to waste time to watch a one sided match.

More or less same scorecard, it seems they didn't learn anything from the last game except not going full Duck_mode. Let's hope Curtis steps up again along with the Tucker and reach close to 150ish.
