Do you think it's a good decision by the SBP to get Chot Reyes as the head coach of the Gilas Pilipinas again?

https://pba.ph/news/tnt-coach-chot-reyes-back-on-gilas-saddle

Quote
VINCENT "Chot" Reyes is back to doing double duty, with his reappointment to head coaching post at Gilas Pilipinas.

Reyes will juggle jobs at TNT Tropang Giga and with the national team while Tab Baldwin is to focus on his responsibilities with the Ateneo men's basketball team with the looming return of the college play in the country.

Which coach is better for you, Coach Chot or Coach Baldwin? and why?

For me coach Baldwin is better, he coach the team in the Fiba World cup and Gilas were really competitive at that time although we know our limitations. It's the decision of coach Tab, he wants to focus on the NCAA coaching specifically the Ateneo Blue Eagle team, so we have to respect that and let's support coach Chot with his new journey to the FIBA.

Both did great from their respective duties during the early FIBA competitions, Coach Chot brings the pusong gilas if I remember that right, but I would say that Coach Tab gave pinoy talents a good exposure, unlike coach chot where most of the time rely with his trio from TNT coach Tab rotates the players and let them explore when they are inside the court.

I used to remember those days when Alapag, Castro and De Ocampo really dominate the minutes during their primes.

While with coach Tab, a name like Romeo shines and is idolized by other countries.. Just saying.. Roll Eyes Tongue

Maybe coach Baldwin is too expensive that’s why they have to let him go and look for other option.
In my personal opinion he is way better, he handle the Gilas better with a lot of promising players but now I guess we have to go back again from zero. I have no hate to Coach Chot but I don’t like him on how he handle Gilas before, looks like we are running out of options, maybe some coaches really don’t want to handle the pressure of Coaching Gilas.

If the Ateneo Blue Eagle can afford him, I'm sure the SBP can afford him more. I don't think it's an issue of money, he work as a coach before, so that proves the SBP can afford his talent fee, whatever you call it. There's no other option for now, it's either him or coach Chot, but we also have Tim Cone, I wonder if they'll try to convince him as well.

Watch Snow Badua's comment regarding the issue on his Facebook Page. Smiley

Watch it and you will agree on what he said about Coach Tab. Coach Tab is the better coach to handle the Gilas right now but up to this moment, he still isn't speaking on why he stepped down as the head coach of the Gilas and since he stepped up the next coach that can handle the team better is Coach Chot. He also said on that video that Coach Tab didn't get his salary from MVP for months and that is also the reason why he isn't speaking up until now. Its not that we are running out of options but we only have one option right now and that is to get Coach Chot as he is the only one that can handle the team I believe.

I've watched it and he has a point. This guy's credibility might be questionable for those that dislike him but with at least of what he's saying, there's really a point on his statements and information. I admire CTB and he's really the best coach to handle Gilas but with the controversial of his resignation, he should at least give a statement on what happened. If he's not allowed to talk about anything, then there's for sure the internal reason on SBP on why he has stepped down. About his salary, yeah, that's maybe the reason why he's keeping his mouth shout so that he won't tell a thing or two or else his pending salary will be hostaged by the MVP group/management.

A simple logic here, a college school can afford him how much more the National right? if it's about the money funds is easier to produce.

There's an internal talk about this and for sure coach Tab agrees with what SBP and MVP offers him, whatever it is we know the influenced of Boss Manny

and what he can do for this team, putting coach Chot will allow him to add more.

Don't get me wrong but for me, it's all about business and the money that it will produce for the company, exposures and more advertisement  Roll Eyes

Business as usual, but we know every time the Gilas Pilipinas are playing, they seem to be promoting smart, so it's MP promotionn. Well, we never know what's the real reason, so we should stop speculating, but about coach Tab, I think I remember in the past he said something bad about the PBA, I guess that was on imports.

@Sanitough, I think Kai has already matured as a player, and you can see how he works hard to be competitive in the league that he is playing now. Well, he is still young, talented, and has the quality of a successful big man as he is also a good shooter and a free throw shooter, his game has really developed while he continues to participate in tougher leagues, so I hope he will be successful with his dreams as it's not only for him, but also for the honor of the country.

I like him to be drafted in NBA but I think he's not yet ready for it. I know that he's a good player and there's such spirit and talent on this kid but I just think and feel that he's not yet there. But wherever the fate is going to bring him, he should grab every opportunity that he can.
And then later on if there's a problem that exists, then he has to face it like hardship of keeping up with the new atmosphere if ever he gets drafted. Well, there are also young talented players that have been drafted but if a scouter sees his talent then he should grab it as training in NBA is much better and yeah, it's NBA.

Him joining the NBA player is inevitable but with regards of him joining in the next NBA draft? I'm a bit hesitant with it TBH.

He has some of the skills already and at the same time he has the shooting ability that is quite normal already in the NBA since we've seen bigs shooting threes already but in terms of strength, I don't think that he can bump bodies to those bigs in NBA. The future for him is bright and we know that but I think that having more experience for him outside NBA would be better to be a more matured player than he is right now. Well its my opinion and in the end, the scouts will be the ones who will decide for his future if he can join in the NBA or not.

If opportunity knocks on his door better to grab it as quick as he can, talent can be trained and enhance what matter now is for him to be drafted and have a team inside this league, I watch a video that's being shared from fb about Jordan Clarkson no one expected him to have a successful career now, almost undrafted but look how far his achievements now.

More on his manager and how the scout will see improvements from him after playing inside Aussie league.

We are all hopeful as a fan and as a Filipino, a pure-blooded dream boy achieving the land of the stars.. Cool Wink

Cool Wink
Yeah, it's just what I think that he's not yet ready for it but when it's already there, he can hone his skills there while playing and for sure that it's also what he's waiting for. It's just going to be one-time knock for that opportunity and I'm sure that he's just quietly waiting for it.
Unlike the other hopefuls that have wasted the opportunity due to many changes of their decision, I won't mention any name that sadly, he's already there but didn't able to touch and grab that way to NBA.

It's an event that we will all be watching to know if Kail would be successful, this is not confirmed yet but there's a possibility that he would want to get drafted as we know it's his dream to play in the NBA. If he failed, he still has a lot of opportunities that awaits him, besides, playing with the Adelaide 36ers is already a big achievement of his young career in basketball.

What do you think about Kai's Future in the NBA?

https://web.facebook.com/OneSportsPHL/photos/a.678816935473756/5343954485626621/

Quote
Map-pick ba ang 7'3" center na si Kai Sotto kung mag-declare siya para sa 2022 NBA Draft?

Kai doesn't need to play in the PBA, he seemed to be playing impressive basketball with his current team now in Australia, and if the scout will notice him, he could choose to get drafted in the 2022 NBA draft, and if that will happen, he will become the first Filipino full blooded NBA player.
I like him to be drafted in NBA but I think he's not yet ready for it. I know that he's a good player and there's such spirit and talent on this kid but I just think and feel that he's not yet there. But wherever the fate is going to bring him, he should grab every opportunity that he can.

Well, there are also young talented players that have been drafted but if a scouter sees his talent then he should grab it as training in NBA is much better and yeah, it's NBA.
I think so too, maybe he needs more experiences on the Australian league by now and if he keeps improving I think there are lot of scouts that might notice him. In the long run, I guess an overseas league with the like of Kai is still impressive for his career even if he wouldn't make it on the NBA but still has the wishful thinking as a fellow countrymen that we desire a full-blooded one there.

Who else agrees that he needs more muscle to gain first? Not that a must but we see Pau Gasol haven't that much but still a dominant center way back his time.

That's the reality, it's all bout the money because no team owner would spend for the team if he will not get something in return, PBA is entertainment but it's a business, they entertain us and at the same time they get something from us. If the brand the teams are representing is not getting the benefit, then most likely the teams will not exist in the PBA anymore.

Yeah, we can conclude that he's on both good situation right now. Whether he stay in Australia for so long or if somebody scouts him. While he's staying in Australia, he can work on his own and prepare and train more.

Who else agrees that he needs more muscle to gain first? Not that a must but we see Pau Gasol haven't that much but still a dominant center way back his time.
I agree. He's better with added muscles. I think it will be part of his training and improvement but we'll see if there will be signs that he's going to work it out.

He can have a massive training once he will be drafted in the NBA, besides, he won't be playing as a starter right away, he will just become a reserve and if he improves then at the right time, he will gain a spot on the team and who knows he will be one of the starters.

Well, he can have his training while he's still in Australia and that would give him a sure buff for the scouters. With height and muscle, it's really ideal to see play in the NBA plus, he's still young.
That's what most of the scouters are looking out. And being a reserve and not a starter, it's okay, as long as he gets sign there when he think he's prepared and good enough to be in any team that signs him.

Every teams should follow the PBA cap salary. The "bonus" is internal transaction and there's a pre-requisite for it and the price is big. We can't just say PBA is entertainment on that case. And the withdrawal of team in the PBA is because they can't sustain anymore the operation, maybe in the core side, not on the expenses of the players salary or what.
