That is quite an early judgment call here. I am with you that they are too hectic, too inconsistent, but I do think that Atletico Madrid is a team that can improve their game over time within the season. The more there is at stake for them, the better they can get. They have had seasons like that in the past. Since they can play quite a unique strategy, it is never a please to play against them. They are not as strong as they used to be when they frequently made it into the semifinals of the Champions League, but assuming they have no chance to win anything, I am not so sure about that. Inter is my favorite when Atletico faces them, but it is still quite a high level encounter.

Atletico is now 7 points behind Real and Girona, and this is too much for Atletico to hope for anything in La Liga. They were able to equal Barcelona on points and even beat them on goal difference (this once again indicates Barcelona’s poor attack), but it seems to me that the main struggle in the remaining matches will be with Barcelona for third and fourth place.

Atletico Madrid has to have several consecutive wins to keep stressing the teams at the top and hope for some bad games. 7 points is not the end, but given the current form that Girona and Real Madrid have, it seems like a lot and Atletico Madrid has had one strong streak with 6 wins in a row yet. But they also had some weak games against inferior teams, which they can hardly afford if their claim is to win La Liga.

Maybe Osasuna's defeat in last week's match against Mallorca was not what some people expected and Osasuna failed to bring home a single point. Mallorca managed to win the match and they did well with a score of 3-2. What is clear is that this match was very fierce considering the number of goals and also the narrow margin of victory. Their downfall has started since Messi left. Barcelona couldn't realize what Messi leaving would do to them. It is for the first time they are playing in UCL playoffs after he left. They won the La Liga last year though, but I think this is due to other teams not performing well and not because they were good. We can see how good they are right now. They have problems on the forward side and on the defense side. They need to do something about it because they even might not be able to play UCL next season.

If other teams are talking about winning La Liga this season, Barcelona has no chance to stand out. Last season, when Lewandowski joined the team, he helped the team to became the La Liga championship, but this season, due to their poor play, they are getting worse. This season, every club are getting serious to win their match and qualify to the next champions league. Take a look at their last match against Almeria, if Barcelona scores, Almeria will score, which is very embarrassing for the club. Atletico Madrid is one team I admire in the Spanish la Liga but the only problem the club have is not being able to win the la Liga for some time now, the reason why I like Atletico Madrid is because they don't concede much goals and they have a solid defense that makes it difficult for their opponents to penetrate. The regret in my opinion is more referring to the timing of the goal Girona conceded, not about the draw in general. There are still so many matches yet to be played, anything can still happen and Atletico can still catch up with seven points if they are able to perform consistently in the future. Not going to lie, I was actually a little surprised to see Atletico Madrid in third position and ahead of Barcelona. I think Barcelona's management is not wise if they break the cooperation with Xavi, because Barcelona's current performance is also due to their own actions in the past, which makes them unable to move freely, especially in the transfer market.
