Even though this tournament takes place at least once every two years, but for some reason I feel that this tournament is still not popular enough even though there are already star players there who are playing in European competitions.

let's face the facts, it is a black competition so it will not get as much attention as it should. There is a misconception among some whites and unfortunately some blacks as well that anything black will not be as standard as something from our white brothers. Though this is false, because it has been indoctrinated in the hearts of many without them knowing, even from a young age, it affects the popularity of the AFCON.

Let us learn to appreciate and see value in our own.

Even though this tournament takes place at least once every two years, but for some reason I feel that this tournament is still not popular enough even though there are already star players there who are playing in European competitions. But yes, I also want to congratulate the teams that have advanced to the round of 16, but most of these teams have at least been predicted and are seeded in this tournament. But unfortunately, the star players who were there were still not good enough to put their names on the top scorers board.

There are many reasons why this tournament is not popular. First, the number of star players here is very small compared to teams from Europe or the Copa Ameria. At the same time, the star players are not able to perform very well here due to being with a weak team.
 The teams here are not strong. There are even many teams whose names I see for the first time. And their gameplay is not very advanced. Those of us who watch different leagues all year round are annoyed by the gameplay of these countries. We rarely see the games of these countries unless there is a need for a team of choice or a bet.

The truth of it is that Africans don't value football compare to the Europeans, the European they invest and add value on football by spending money in players and good stadium.  They make sure everything is standard that is why their football is always interesting.  Africa is only try to meet up in that standard.

Bro I'm not criticizing the league. I just said the reality. You said we don't have enough time to find the star players in the African League. 24 teams are playing now, can you tell me 12-star players names whom everyone knows? I don't think you can. Now you only look at the France or Brazil team. As much as there are star players in these two teams, I doubt if we will find so many star players in the whole of Africa.

What a shameful outing for Algeria. Should I call over confidence or what. Afcon Champion could not register a single win in their group stage including those they tagged as minors. Algeria and Zambia have experienced the same fate. When Zambia won the Africa cup for the first time in 2012 they were knocked out in the group stages during the 2013 edition just like what has happened to Algeria. The whole thing is getting interesting and I hope the super eagles will not underrate any of these teams including the so called minor, because they are the real problems in this tournament. This afcon is full of surprises. I love this tournament the giant teams are being sink down to the earth and the minor team are being resurrated to the highest level.

I really thought the first two games could be a wake-up call for Algeria, but it wasn't and now they are out and it's deserved. It was the only big surprise (well, maybe also Ghana's elimination to some extend) in the first round imho.

For the final round the role distribution seems clear. In 3 of the 4 brackets towards the semi-final we have clear favorites: Nigeria, Senegal and Cameroon. If any of those doesn't make it it would be a huge surprise. The last bracket is a bit more open with Ivory Coast vs Egypt and the winner facing (probably) Morocco in the quarter finals.

I really won't consider Senegal as clear favorite against Cape Verde, given what they played in the first round, Senegal scored just one in a group where you have expected them to do away a possible 9 points, while Cape Verde emerged from a tough group.

No one was expecting the Algerian team to get eliminated from the competition at group stage! Personally, I was expecting them to at leat make it to the semi-finals, especially with their impressive performance in tha Arab cup less than two months ago.
I agree with you though, I believe the reason behind this is opponent underestimate and an over confidence which was shaken after the draw against Sierra Leone then the defeat Equatorial Guinea.

This year AFCON is the best to me compare to the previous ones  we use to have, it was interesting even if we have some teams that their performance was not good enough and the fact is every team can't operate on the same level. AFCON is still okay despite some of our key players didn't participate due to covid-19 outbreak.

So far in this competition, the Cameroonian team has scored more goals than any other team in the tournament with Vincent Aboubakar of Cameroon being the top scorer with four goals so far, the super eagles were the only side to get full points (9) from the group stages, and the Senegalese side is the only team yet to concede a goal.

Who will make it to the Quarter finals?

I placed a multi-bet on Nigeria,, Senegal, Morocco and Cameroon at 4.5 which I find a good one. I hate risking coins on some random African games with questionable games running there but decided to try it at the end with those 4. Hopefully they will not disappoint..

The Nigerian team is looking fairly good for now on the group stage. I don't know the exact bet you made on them really, if it is whether qualification to the knock out stage or not but next round of the game is usually tougher. The African cup so far is not predictable on the group stage.

I wasn't expecting Algeria to be eliminated this early. The last time I saw a surprise like this in international tournaments was that Germany couldn't promote from the group stage. Even though Nigeria are the best team of the group stage now, my favourite team for the tournament are Senegal that haven't shown a good performance.

There is no doubt that the Nigerian team is strong. Because they have won all the matches of the group stage. Their gameplay is excellent. Among the African teams, Nigeria's gameplay and strategy are the most beautiful. But is the Tunisian team really strong? They collected only 3 points in 3 matches of group stage. They have won one match and lost the other two. My guess is that Nigeria could easily win the next match against Tunisia.

The reason has been said before, if European leagues have most of their best player in Africa, this will not be the case. But Africa need to work on quality also.

I like the video of matches played in North Africa like Egypt but why are others are of low quality? Africa nations need to help themselves to let other appreciate them.

You are talking about round of 16, Nigeria versus Tunisia. Tunisia teams are not encouraging at all, but round of 16 will be tougher because the players will be having more strengths as they are getting closer to the final. Any team can win this match but if we should use stat and previous matches to compare, Tunisia should be expecting 2 goals range from Nigeria. I predict Nigeria to win with 2 goals range.

Egypt are nobody without Salah, I think, or should I just say I'm certain that the Ivorians will scale to the next round.

Love how solid there midfield, haven't seen much of Wilfried Zaha in this competition.
