unpopular opinion. One of the worst African Cups in history and one of the worst champions and the worst runner-up in history, a crab team that played defending every game, all this is the fault of their coach, the ultra-defensive Queiroz.
Mo Salah dont make any difference horrible tournament for him, but its related to the saying above.
Senegal well.... yes its the champion but have one of the most powerfull teams and have luck in many games, Mane yes its the champion but not make any diference.
Only foward men that really make a diference was Aboubakar from Camerun 7 or 8 goals sadly for him dont its the champion.

Even if I were to chose, I would have picked Senegal ahead of Egypt in course of this competition. Senegal have been up and doing right from the group stage. Egypts qualifications through the knock-our stage, down to the finals has just been by chance.

I wouldn't quite say so, Egypt faced tougher opponents getting to the finals when compared with Senegal. Although the Egyptian side were only winning their games by slight margins and penalties, i wouldn't quite say it's just been by chance, they were quite very tactical in their games, knowing when to defend and drag the game to penalties which is something they know they are very good at, they didn't miss any penalties up until today and their Goalkeeper is very good there as well. Unfortunately for them today, they were fairly confident before the penalties started that they will be the winning side having had more experience there and the pressure on Senegal, but it didn't go their way.

Mendy the goalkeeper played his part but it was not entirely to him, some Egyptian players that were selected for the penalties were quite nervous on the ball as well, reasons best know to them.

Senegal goes home with the cup from the AFCONs finally after much stress and hard work. Mendy made everyone surprised today as he saved a penalty that was swinged to the right bar(this is something he barely does ) but maybe since he knew that it would bring to the progress of laying thier hands on the cup,he did it out of desperation and saved the ball.
It was looking so confusing because I thought that Egypt was gonna win at once when Senegal lost a penalty but they still defended thier goal by scoring another wonderful goal.
It was all fun out there in the gaming center. Congratulations to Senegal.

Is that how you make your own comparisons? Egypt goalkeeper doesn't play for any premier league club or even in the championship and for that,he hasn't made any stat in that aspect so how then do you want him to be compared to a keeper that has played in a strong premier league club and has won the champions league? Isn't that even more insane?
I'm not a Chelsea fan but I can tell from my observation that Mendy is better than him( saving penalties might just be an advantage from his height)

It makes me happy to see that and since it was for the first time, finally Mane got a title that will go down in history especially for him. Of course for the whole team, but I think a team also benefits as a whole when you have a player like him on the pitch. Everyone feels more motivated because everything is possible if you have a world class striker.

Am just looking at the stats of who has won the most trophies when it comes to the Afcon and am shocked to learn that Senegal had not won any not until today after beating the Egyptians on penalties.. Egypt were the team i wanted but the tournaments favorites Senegal did not disappoint, they went all the way and won it.

But all in all the keepers did put a good show to keep clean sheets which is good for their career stats.

This is a truly historic moment for the Senegalese national team. Congratulations because they showed futball at the highest world level. Certainly, thanks to this match, many scouts from around the world will get interested in a few players. As you have noticed, I'm sure the goalkeepers will probably get their first offers tomorrow because they showed really great.

I agree that Salah was playing too selfishly. But it is possible that he just wanted to take on the weight of the game and overstated his abilities. It cannot be said that he is a bad player, but unfortunately he did not manage to beat the great players from Senegal and especially goalkeeper. Congratulations to the winners, but a lot of respect to both teams for a very good game.

In the end it was spectacular for everyone that it was decided in the penalty shootout. I agree that at times Salah could and should have made different choices, but as you said it is not that he doesn't know there are other players on the pitch. He was just trying to get the best out of himself and if he has a special day, he can decide that game by himself. This time he didn't.

It was a really great match at the highest world level. A real feast for soccer fans. A huge amount of emotions and great competition. Both teams showed that in the world championship they can compete with the best teams.

I think this first championship Senegal have won. The match was so fun to watch, the both team showed their quality skill in the game.  The match was goalless  for over 120 minutes,  until Senegal scored a goal through a penalty.  The chances for Egypt to score was slim in the first half, in the second half there was chances for both teams to win. Nice one to Senegal winning the AFCON.

It was a great game with equal matching strength. Unfortunately my favoured team Egypt did not win this time around. Any game that goes into penalty shootouts after extra times shows that both teams  and coaches can read each other. Kudos to Senegal. At least this is Senegal's first AFCON win. It is like a world cup victory to them and they should enjoy the moment.

The match are according to my prediction that Egypt playing slightly defensive and several times get opportunities to scoring goals from counter attack but so far Senegal defense playing well and the score does not change until extra time and Senegal players has been showing up good mentally during penalty kick that they can score 4 goals from 5 penalty kicks and history has been made by them by becoming the champion of the african cup for the first time

Coincidentally both teams will play another crucial 2022 World Cup qualifying march playoff, it's a two legged match both home and away matches between the two teams in March, both country will utilize their home advantage, the Egyptian affirmed their readiness to revenge their defeat to Senegal when the two team met again, it's going to be a make or mar match because the winner between the two teams will qualify for Quatar 2022 World Cup thus the two countries will resume another round of rivary after the AFCON finals it going to be quite an interesting tie ahead.

This season's champion of AFCON is Senegal. I am happy because they have become champions. They deserve it. I don't like the way the Egyptian team plays. They played very defensively entire the tournament and as usual, they played defensively in the final too. Very boring gameplay. Their target was to draw the match by playing defensively and beat Senegal in the penalty shootout. But Senegal's goalkeeper played well, with Senegal scoring in four of the five penalty shots. They played great throughout the match, as well as in the penalty shootout.
