We thought the same thing when Egypt had to fight Cameroon because Cameroon are much better so we like them going to the next round but today Egypt destroyed it

Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch this match but I'm not surprised the Egyptian won over the Cameroonians. What I'm surprised of is for the match to ended goalless and have to go to penalty shoot out. History favores Egypt as in every AFCON tournament whether they play well or not  they are always among the favorite tip to win it. They are the highest winners of the tournament and they have the most informed player at the moment on their team.

Last two season it was a final between this two side but the result was the opposite as Cameroon emerge victories, guess this is a payback. The final is going to be between Liverpool's finest with Mane and Salad facing off. I still tip Senegal to win it. Last AFCON they reached the finals but were beaten by Algeria, they wouldn't be slacking this time around. Good luck to both teams they truely deserve to be playing the finals. Feeling very sorry for Cameroon, the citizens must have thought they'll go all the way this year, very heartbreaking.

To be honest I don't really follow AFCON so I don't know the history of this tournament it's just that I recently saw how the competition in the group stage was fierce
From the list of champions I see Senegal has never won so I can understand Senegal are very excited in this final ambition to list their country on the list of champions
Meanwhile, Egypt has the opportunity to win the 8th title I can imagine how fierce the situation in the final.

I have  always have thoughts that if Cameroon should play a game with a team like Egypt it will be tough for them to defeat Egypt the way they have been winning other teams since the tournament,  and to be honest it was not easy for them in their last match because Egypt was fully prepared not to lose the match, it was also hard for Egypt if not that Egypt were lucky to score a goal through penalty.  The game was very interesting.

Finally Egypt defeated Morocco and i never expected Egypt to win Morocco despite that the match ended with penalty, i was watching news yesterday the football analysis, one of them was emphasising on Egypt with courage that nothing will make Cameroon not win Egypt, if Nigeria can win Egypt that Cameroon will win moy better.

On paper, Cameroon looked the good team and had the upper than. But Cameroon have themselves to blame, they had everything controlled the game created chances but they were not clinical enough. The game had to be wrapped up first half, going towards full-time i think they had to throw in Chippo-Moting. Egypt only had a strong mentality they knew going to the penalties they had the upper hand. From when the game started and I saw how Egypt were keeping possession and playing out well from the defense, I knew it will go their way if they’re to maintain the flow and not concede early. I think Egypt were the better team in terms of ball possession. They put in great performance against the host and their goalkeeper shows good determination.

Haven't checked the odds yet, but surely this will be a 50-50 match? Could go both ways, I think. I dont know who is in better shape this tournament.

I didn't watch the whole match, I just had time to watched the highlights, I think Cameroon is superior in those game and the statistics say the same however the result of the match has been decided and we could say that Egypt was lucky to advance to the final thanks to their luck in the penalty shootout and it seems that egypt has prepared this match to end in a draw and try to win from the penalty shootout. apart from this match, Egypt will compete against Senegal in the final which seems to be more prepared and does not want to repeat the failure like the previous final.

Which is exactly why this thread was created, glad you took sometime to research. This has always been an interesting tournament, hard to predict who will win since it's one of the toughest tournaments for its physicality. Senagal also played in the finals last tournament and also were impressive in the last world cup where they only got eliminated because of the new fair play rule.  They have been one of Africans finest teams when it come to football and do deserve a place in the winners of this tournament.

Egypt are miles ahead of other nation as title winners and won't be disappointed for not winning this time around, they know Senegal isn't a small nation to joke with and understand that Senegal would give in their all just to win this. Salad might want to proof a point to Mane and vise versa so we're in for a blockbuster.

comparing Salah and Mane in liverpool I prefer to chose Salah but in this AFCON I tend to favor senegal who won AFCON because of the motivation not to fail again in the AFCON final this time and in some news i read mane convinces friends to play all out to win this final no matter what opponent they face. It is going to be an intriguing battle on Sunday. The best of African talents will clash. On paper Senegal looks to be favourite obviously because often big names who are playing for big guns in Europe, and Egypt does not really have much players with European football experience, Only 6 of their squad members are based outside of the continent. I think Egypt have shown character of winning the tournament after their poor result against Nigeria. Senegal have not been that convincing from the start. Senegal only looked strong against Burkina Faso. Egyptians will throw everything to win it. They seem to be playing this tournament with experience and technicality. So far it has been working for them.

I think the final match between Egypt and Senegal will be dicey and unpredictable though on paper the odd favors Senegal to win the match, however the Egyptians had their own game plan just like when the odd was against them before playing Cameroon but they went into the game with a well executed tactics and won via penalty, I forsee a similar scenario playing out in the finals too, though the senegalese team is a star-studded team who are eager to lift the trophy after losing to Algeria in the final against a North African team in the last edition they should be wary of the Egyptians.

What a surprise to see Egypt making it to the finals after trashing Cameron's 3 goals, am happy and at the same time, I sad am happy. I support Egypt winning the match but am sad because I would have loved to see Cameron play in the finals.
AFCON is always very hard to predict and most time it is better to just flow with the vibes of the tournament rather than support a team.

I also think Senegal will make it. I'd guess a 1-0 or 2-0.

Although I am rooting for Egypt. Before the start of the tournament they were kind of one of the favorites, but the first games were pretty disappointing and they became more of an outsider. However, they showed a very good effort in the group stage and kicked out 3 stronger teams! Unfortunately they played all 3 games extra time and also have 1 day less to recover. Senegal will be better rested and stronger physically in the final.

Cameroon never faced a very strong opposition in this tournament due to the balanced pairings. Although I did not see any spectacular talents in their team, they had to favor them in order to reach this far. Due to the comments made by the Cameroon captain, this defeat is my favorite. Egypt won the match, congratulations. The match against Senegal will be an interesting one. Both Salah and Mané are superb footballers and human beings. Should I say Mane is better than Salah or their team? In order to win, Mane pulls his entire team together. Even though Salah scores more goals, he is not a team player.

Cameroon against Burkina Faso, that is good to be tough match between two of them is fighting not to go home empty handed, Cameroon is stronger than Burkina Faso for this tournament, but football does not go to who is tougher or not to win, i know many will be looking at Cameroon to win even me, I'm even expecting Cameroon to defeat Burkina Faso, but since they are fighting for third position i think the battle line will be stronger, let us not conclude yet the appropriate group that win, because this period it has gotten to predict wrongly, because like now each team will deem it fit to win

Yea it will make the final more interesting to watch, seeing two premier stars that play in same club(Liverpool) against eachother in a final Wil make everyone that love soccer in the world wants to watch. Winning this trophy will help Mohamed Salah in his course to win the balloon d or  if he goes far in the champions League.

This time again Senegal will still not take the trophy. Gradually the prediction that it will be a Senegal and Egypt finals is coming to pass. Today's match between Cameroon and Egypt will produce Egypt as winner. It will be a tough game because of the home support Cameroon will be getting but they will still lose out to face Burkina Faso for the third place. This cup is going to Egypt.

I still maintain this position. All the way to Egypt. The Liverpool players of Sadio Mané and M. Salah will lock horns on the day but it is Mané who will cry at the end. It will be a pity to see Senegal get into finals again and be denied the trophy.

A catastrophic AFCON in all levels not only attendance but also low security level, poor stadium quality, some people even died in one of the stadium, questionable referees decisions, some teams are eliminated due to those weird decisions without returning to VAR although they were asked to... But hey, Eto'o said that this version is a success and he even proposed to host World Cup... Delusion at its best!

Do not condemn everything there as if we do not have disasters too in European football it elsewhere. Nowhere is perfect. Eventhough I agree with you that the start of this AFCON was with alot of errors from referees but it is better now. Give the organisers some credits.
