Private security guards earn more than border patrol officers? That seems a strange thing. They could have raised their salaries and hired many more to cover hotspots on the border.

How much would say border patrol officers and security guards earn on average?

I would much rather us build a VIRTUAL wall on the border with the usage of drones and such, much cheaper and much more effective. But I guess we'll see where that goes. The common issue in all of these solutions is that we have a massive shortage of border patrol agents mostly b/c we don't pay them enough and we can't attract the right sort of talent. Why go work for border patrol when you can make more as a private security guard? LOL.

Or as much as $160k for big name security in some areas.
Pre-Covid there were some guards in buildings in NYC pulling in over $90k for being glorified hall monitors in buildings. But, the big buildings with the big companies wanted them there to make everyone feel safe.
So it's kind of a wide range.

Thank you Dave for the information and the comparisons between the salaries, they vary a lot depending on location and other things. If border patrol staff make around $70k per annum then there should be many people who might be in low paid jobs would look at that as a good or excellent salary and would like to make the transition.

Those glorified hall monitors you referred to that make $90k+ per annum, that is a lot more money than the border patrol officers though there could be give and take in the number of contractual weekly/monthly hours involved. Maybe if the salary was higher it would make it more appealing to a wider prospective job-seeker.

So there is one thing that I understand about the wall and why it 'would kinda work'. It can't be taken down by the next President by executive order. Once it would be put it, I think it would be pretty unpopular to just remove a border wall on your own whims. With that said, the thought process for some is that Dems don't care about ilegal immigraiton and b/c of that if they put up a physical structure of a wall then the Dems aren't able to sabotage it.

The "wall" is comically DDOSable. It takes someone perhaps a half hour and one charge of a DeWalt battery to cut a hole through it, and probably days and thousands of dollars for the US taxpayer to fix it. No Dem sabotage involved.

It's also not really a wall.  It's a fence.

And aside from 8 miles, it was built when people other than Trump were president.

And the 8 miles that were built while Trump was president were not paid for by Mexico.

I am not aware of any reasonable argument suggesting that anyone would be better off financially under a Biden Presidency verses Trump winning reelection, nor am I aware that anyone will lose "only" ~$1000 under a Biden presidency. This assumes you are not a member of the Biden family or are otherwise politically connected, in which case, you would stand to make millions.

I keep hearing this defense, implying that the democrats are blaming Trump that the virus existed at all. Just to be clear, Trump is being blamed for the covid related decisions he made based on what he knew and when.  He's not being blamed 'for covid'.

No. If anything the deaths are undercounted. We hit 200k excess deaths (2020 compared to prior years) about a month before the official COVID-19 count reached 200k. I can't think of any reason why 200k extra people would be dying this year. Is AOC poisoning them or something?
