Passing week 17, Paris Saint Germain can be at the top of the standings comfortably, being 5 points above Nice, the club closest to them. with a 5-point advantage in Ligue 1 it will be very difficult to catch up, especially those who have that advantage are Paris Saint Germain who are the strongest club in Ligue 1.
I think they will be able to continue to be comfortable there. Their focus is on the Champions League, because in the last few seasons the Champions League has been their main goal. But in Ligue 1 itself for them it is easy, because there is no club that can really rival them at this time.  Nice, who were good at the start of the season, have in fact declined and are now below them.

Nice is a contender for the Ligue One title but that doesn't portrayed any threat, they're just enlisted as any othe random mediocre club in Ligue One this season. It's almost the end of the year and there's strong probability of these clubs keeping to stellar performance. There's no club that can stand in the same ring to challenge Paris Saint Germain for the league title this season. It's really tough for these clubs to stand out to face energy with PSG who's on fire this season. Luis Enrique always makes sure he's team doesn't hold back when they face average clubs and they always make good use of their chance.

What they lack is an atacking line that can't score goals, I'm sure if they had a sharp attacking line then they would be above Paris Sant Germain, or at least not as far apart as they are now. They are very strong in defense, but that doesn't mean anything when they don't score goals. So far their defense is the most solid and they have only conceded 9 goals, which is a very good record. But when we look at their attack we will really find their weakness this season. When they lose or get a draw, the truth is that their game is not problematic, it's just that they can't create goals, that's all. They have to make improvements in the attacking line.

I am also surprised by Lorient's poor performance this season. Even though they didn't perform well last season, at least they were able to reach the top 10 in the league. They ended last season with 15 wins. That is still very good when compared to this season, which has only won 2 wins from 17 matches. I agree with you that what Lorient must focus on this season is how to keep them safe from the relegation zone. Lyon has started to show good performance and is out of the relegation zone. Last season Lorient had a better playing performance. and indeed this season their defense is very bad. so does their midfield. if you watch the match directly, there will be gaps in their midfield. so it is very difficult to make an attack when they have managed to defend against the opponent's attack. what happens when their midfield is not ready is that they will keep losing the ball and it is detrimental for them to continue to be in pressure situations.
even when they are in an attacking position, many gaps are targeted by opponents who can easily enter to make counterattacks. I think it's not just their defense, there is a lot that needs to be improved in their game.

Lorient can only collect 12 points in 2023 and from 17 matches they have 2 wins, 6 draws and 9 defeats. I don't know whether they can survive this season or not. It is clear that competition will continue to increase to be free from the relegation zone. However, it is clear that Lorient must be able to recover and be able to emulate what Lyon has done by successfully getting out of the relegation zone since the start of this season.

I didn't expect Lorient to be in the relegation zone this season. We saw quite a good performance from Lorient in the previous season as well. But from the beginning of this season, their performance started to decline. Out of 17 matches, the team won only two matches. And yet their performance is very erratic. That may maybe a little bit unbelievable to see Lorient in the danger zone of the French League but the fact about Lorient in this season is about the weak result they even got before this match.
If you check the past results for Lorient you can clearly see in the last five matches they recently had, they lost four games and they had only one draw which means they are far from hey situation in which they can even stay in the French League 1.
However, there are still many games they should play before the end of this season and they can have a good chance to get in the better form.

Did anyone expected lyon to be bad? Of course not, nobody would have guessed that lyon would be that bad, but they are, so if Lyon could be, Lorient could very well be as well.

It's just that Ligue 1 is becoming way too much "psg and others" which means other teams are not doing well and every year they are doing worse and worse, and we do not know which one will get more worse than others can get. This means that sometimes teams like Lorient will do much worse than expected, it's just how it is and how it will move on with the world if the league doesn't recover.

Look at their results in previous seasons, in the 2021/22 and 2020/21 seasons they were only able to finish in 16th position. That's not surprising to me because they're a team that came from Ligue 2 promotion. And about Lyon, we don't know what happens next, maybe now they can escape the relegation zone, but when the league restarts, it will be a new challenge for them.

In the Champions League they will face Real Sociedad in the round of 16, looking at the opponent in the round of 16 I can still trust Paris Saint Germain, but that does not mean they will be able to win easily, because after all Real Sociedad is a club that counts although maybe not like other clubs like Manchester City or Real Madrid. Real Sociedad are the group winners, and that proves that they cannot be underestimated by Paris Saint Germain. The odds are in Paris Saint Germain's favor, I want to see how they can capitalize on this momentum.

Lorient is surely in deep trouble from start of this season and now things are entered into the worst way because they are facing humiliation and not able to have any recovery sign which is another disasters for them with this performance look like we will find them in relegation zone until end of this season and their golden time is going to end.

Lens and Lyon both have good recovery specially from Lens which is currently at seventh and most chances they will keep going for the another UEFA season because their performance is touching good level and Lyon which was also in deep internal trouble now on good way and after winning three matches touching safe zone even still needs more time but most chances next half could be much improved, and they will be in middle of the league table until end of this season.

If a club wants to compete with PSG on a fair level, any club would have to invest at least 300 - 400 million to buy new players. Given what the transfer prices are these days, that amount is probably still not enough. The PSG squad is so much more worse that it would be embarrassing if PSG ever fails to win the title. The difference between the clubs is so huge that money does indeed count here. I wouldn't say this if PSG was worth 100 million more because they have Mbappe, but the whole team is extremely far away from all of the other clubs. The Ligue 1 title is an obligation for them.

A five-point lead is not very safe, especially with the season only having completed half the matches so there are still surprising things that might happen but it's true what you said in Ligue 1 if PSG is already in the lead then it will be difficult for any team to bring them down from the top of the standings because they have more strength than any team in Ligue 1, what can make them fall is when they lose concentration or when they have to divide their focus with other tournaments that are no less important such as the Champions League.
There are four matches in Ligue 1 that they have to play before facing Real Sociedad, and these four matches are quite tough in my opinion, especially when a few days before competing in the Champions League they will face Lillie because in the last two meetings, Lillie was quite troublesome for PSG even though PSG managed to win and draw but they will never take this match easily.

They're just a few points ahead and it's very much not buoyant for them as the increase in the league's intensity may unintentionally lead to their drop in position which they as a team shouldn't let to happen.

 They've also been able to advance to the round of 16 of the UCL and their Spanish opponent, who's not really a tough side as them but maybe stands a chance to advancing to the next stage. They'll have to be extra prepared for the game ahead. They also have to be careful about their league race. They've got to stay in shape and capacity too. They've got to use the games during the early second half of the season to cover up their tracks and also strive to be far better than Sociedad and even advance to the quarter finals.

There is no sign of recovery at all, even if Ligue 1 restarts they, will face a big problem, namely playing against Lille at Pierre-Mauroy. Of course this will not be easy for them, playing against strong team and acting as away.

FYI, the odds for Lille to win in the next Ligue 1 match are @1.37 while for Lorient to win are @8.2, isn't it clear from the odds that Lorient will get worse in the league? .

They took an important step in terms of continuing their performance this year by beating their serious rivals Lens 2-0 in the last match.
