You are right, and it doesn't really matter what a popular person does - his followers will look at it with interest anyway. If you take twitch, then the most popular streamers, no matter what they do - from just chatting to playing some kind of stupid game (not interesting to anyone if you don’t take into account who plays it) always collect a huge number of viewers. Similarly with these fights - legends are always interesting, even if they have grown old and cannot be competitive in purely professional sports.
As long as the promoters do their job it can be converted to a huge amount of profits, legends are happy for giving them chance/opportunities to step back inside the ring, with a good amount of offers and with some medical securities that will be discussed behind those fighters even they are no longer on their fighting shape they will accept the challenge. There's something inside them that will continue to be delighted once a fight being schedule, especially if they see fans who are still cheering for them and still happy to see them fighting. It's literally a win-win situation. And by the way, there is another aspect - financial. Due to inflation and trends that make media content very valuable, the legends of the past are getting the opportunity to get money that they could not get in their professional career. I think if you take any martial arts, then there is the same situation as in football, where if you take the top salary of stars (20 years ago) of the level of Zidane or Raul in modern conditions, it is less than the salary of average players. Show fights make up for this injustice.

Guys, what do you think about those famous people in other sports (like UFC, MMA) then suddenly will shift into boxing, not via professional boxing, but as an exhibition match? Or those who are already retired but suddenly will participate in an exhibition match against a non-boxer. It was all started by Floyd Mayweather Jr. and then from there, lots of boxing exhibition matches have been executed.
And the sad part, these people who are participating in exhibition matches are being paid more compared to professional boxers.

These exhibition fighters coming from MMA are getting paid more because they have built their name in MMA and they have already gained a legion of fans they follow their idol in boxing matches and people out of curiosity are paying to watch these matches, and so far the fans are not disappointed because its action-packed like what happens on all of the brother Paul's matches, there are rumors that Jake Paul will fight Andersson Silva this match if the deal is made is going to be another blockbuster in the making.

All I can say is there's no law making what they are doing illegal, so it's alright. If we don't like to see that happening, we should not be supporting that kind of event, the only reason why they are confident in holding an exhibition fight is that we are willing to pay, and since they are good at marketing their fight, people get hype and that resulted on them making more money.

You're correct, I'm not really following MMA, but if there's an exhibition fight for MMA he will also get a huge paid too since many people are want to see their idol fight, so it's not only on boxing. Maybe boxing is bigger than MMA and mostly exhibition fight happen for boxing, not MMA. Personally I'm not fan of exhibition fight since it's a fixed match, but sometime I will bet if the odds is worthy for me. Just like the cancelled event where Jake Paul will fight against Tommy Fury, Jake Paul is the underdog and it's make sense to bet him since he's a clever businessman.

Did anyone hear about that fight between the Iranian Hulk and Martyn Ford? It's been a few months but there was an internet sensation that suggested the hulk from Iran. Then there was a show and then it turned out that the Iranian Hulk was suddenly 100 kilos of muscle mass lighter. That was a big mockery. The fight was eventually canceled when the organization also recognized that his photos had been photoshopped and that the Iranian hulk only exists on the internet. What a let drama.

I understand your sentiment and I agree with you but those past stars or well-known fighters established their names into these sports and fans loves seeing them fighting again, though it's just an exhibition and most of those fights are for the sake of entertainment but the value of the names that being offered is what are fans paying for, it's just sad that real boxers who don't have a career yet received lower money but that's the reality, it's business and for you to enjoy the luxury you need to established your name and be known for fans to support you and buy your tickets or PPV.

Yeah, Floyd literally open the pandora's box about this exhibition match and cross-over, in the beginning it was sort of ok. But if you see those legendary boxersa and UFC fighters getting knock out, then you have to think that there is something wrong with this matches. But I guess, those ex-fighters will have to find a way to make some money will they still can, and so you can't blame them. And the sad part, these people who are participating in exhibition matches are being paid more compared to professional boxers.
Probably its because of the hype of the fight that fans are willing to buy tickets and PPV. So I guess it's going to continue whether we hate seeing legends in sports getting laid down on the canvass that we haven't seen them in their pro careers.

Relax fellas! There is ZERO truth that Floyd Mayweather Jr. started exhibition matches on boxing. Does the name Muhammad Ali ring a bell? Correct! The great Muhammad Ali had many exhibition matches during his days. And who knows if there were also exhibition matches prior to Muhammad Ali. But it is a fact that there were exhibition matches already before Mayweather did it.
There are many exhibition matches that were made for charity and I will support them. But i'm no supporter to those exhibition matches for personal purposes. It will not stop until people stops paying.

I didn't know that Floyd Mayweather has an upcoming exhibition match against Mikuru Askakura a MMA fighter, this month of September. And also I didn't know Mayweather has love for the country of Japan or the fighters, lol. After this fight, he might fight against a Korean fighter. Hopefully this fight will entertain us more compared to when he fought Tenshin Nasukawa.

Probably its because of the hype of the fight that fans are willing to buy tickets and PPV. So I guess it's going to continue whether we hate seeing legends in sports getting laid down on the canvass that we haven't seen them in their pro careers. And to add, it's a different era now. Entertainment in the old days is only caught when there's an event like boxing, a real match like Mike Tyson vs Holyfield. But now, it's way different, entertainment can come from anything, and even those who are not professional at what they do can challenge someone and ignite a trend for it to happen. So it's either we accept it and just enjoy the other fights or not watch it at all and wait for the professional match which most of the time takes a long time in preparation. I won't worry much though, pro fights support is still more intense than social media stars.

If my memory serves me right, there is this so called celebrity boxing matches before, there is hype but it was before the social media era and maybe that's why it can't be compare with the exhibitions that Floyd has started. And yeah, entertainment before was a true boxing match, best against the best and people get entertained when someone gets knock out. But today it is very different form of entertainment, more of a circuit act for this former professional fighters. And then Youtube sensation Paul Brothers and KSI has open this flood gates of this kind of fights for the money.

It is all about money, either for personal gain or to cater fund for charity. And I also think that it isn't Floyd Mayweather that started this kind of exhibition. Ali once made an exhibition fight against a Puerto Rican comedian Jose Miguel Agrelot (with Iris Chacon acting as Agrelot's corner-woman)[1] So Floyd got the idea from Ali to earn more money. And the sad part, these people who are participating in exhibition matches are being paid more compared to professional boxers.
This is normal, it can't be called an exhibition fight for nothing.

WWE Wrestling is considered an exhibition and for entertainment only but we cannot say that on the Paul brothers type of exhibitions, Tyron Woodley's knock out is brutal and those punches landed are hard, on boxing, it's hard to do a script because the boxing community is used to seeing real punches being thrown, the exhibition matches presented to us by the Paul brothers are more than entertaining because both fighters are not professional boxers they are on other fields trying to present themselves in boxing and people are supporting this because there's a lot of unexpected things happening.

So who wouldn't love that? you are being offered big money in matter of minutes? So as Floyd said, easy money and his health is not at risk with this amateur Japanese boxers. And it's the culture of the Japanese as well, that's why you can see boxing being held in their country and they have one of the best fighters right now, Naoya Inoue and they have a lot of current and past champions that can rival the best boxing country like Mexico and the Philippines.

this is true, previously when facing Logan Paul, mayweather doesn't seem to be going to fight seriously anymore and only has a goal to make money and entertain his fans, he is currently over 40 years old, and I think it's totally natural what he's doing right now. mayweather vs asakura is just the opening match - for the main fight between Kyoji Horiguchi, with Yuto "Kintaro" Hokamura.

Mayweather find another cash cow on the Japanese audiences and its way too easy than what he's done in boxing for the last twenty years he need not train very hard, because he is not fighting a top caliber and rated fighter he only needs to showboat show some boxing skills and voila its money, of course, he needs to protect that 0 records so he'll not likely agreed to lose the match, I think Pacquiao should be doing that too, he can come out with two fights a year and that's already millions of dollars in his pocket.

Since it's entertainment, it just makes sense to believe that exhibition matches are staged and scripted even if it's not publicly disclosed. However, if the fight is between two great boxers during their prime, regardless if the match will be scripted or not, many people will still spend money watching these as most people in the new generation never have a chance to see those legends fighting in the ring. Simply, just ignored those shitty matches and only support those matches that have a good initiative (real charity event that makes sense and legit 100%).
