^^ Wasn't able to watch the fight mate, but it was a great fight as from what I read.

Leigh Wood was behind from the judges scorecard and can't seem to find his rhythm while the underdog Warrington keep pushing the phase with his volume punching. But when everything seems to be not going on the way of Wood, but suddenly he scored a dramatic knockout in the 7th round. Denying Warrington a 3rd time for the featherweight belt.

Man, they were both running on fumes by the end, but Leigh Wood landed that killer shot that had Warrington on shaky legs. And he couldn't catch a break from the bell! Talk about an entertaining brawl, the crowd was totally hyped.

Honestly, I've been missing this kind of action. I mean, I caught the highlights you shared, and it was a blast to watch.

So what's next for Leigh Wood?

Yes, they are domestic rivals so it's really good to see that this fighters didn't left out anything and just throw bombs thru the first seven rounds and it seems the Warrington has the upper hand early because we all know that he uses volume punching as his main weapon to throw his opponent. And Wood really has nothing to offer early because of the akwardness of Warrington and the way he throw his bombs. But unfortunately, Josh can't maintain that phase without him being open for counter and that's what happen in the last few seconds of the seventh round. But I really though that the referee will just let this continue because it was at the bell and it's unfortunate that he didn't let this fight to continue. Because at least he will have a minute to recover in the corner. But I guess he saw that Josh is already badly damage and it's just a matter of time before he would be dangerously knockout cold by Leigh Wood.

Wood had another impressive come from behind knockout victory. For Warrington it must be frustrating to keep coming up short.

BoxRec's top 10 ratings shows that featherweight is a stacked division. Matching any of these fighters together would make for a compelling fight. There is also Naoya Inoue just one division below. If he becomes undisputed he could move up and find a worthy opponent.

In other boxing action Zurdo Ramirez won a wide decision in his cruiserweight debut against former champion Joe Smith Jr. Cruiserweight is among the worst divisions in boxing so Zurdo shouldn't have much trouble becoming world champion.

As I expected this is going to be war between this two are they are rivals. And I thought that the underdog Warrington will have a good chance to win this fight. And he really did, he might be leading on the score cards. However, Wood is the harder puncher and he was caught in the last seconds but when he goes up, he doesn't have his legs and so it's the right call in my opinion.

Next for Wood? most likely to defend his belt again, or unify with Rey Vargas. But will be another intriguing fight as Vargas is very tall and lanky and has power in both hands. Or maybe defend it against a rated Japanese fighter in Tomoki Kameda.

If Warrington just had the KO power, the fight would have ended earlier. He made Leigh suffer the first 5 rounds. But he caught Warrington hands down and hit the chin. The man was already unsteady before even even that combo. And if it weren't for that, Warrington's hand may be raised since he is effective in body shots.

Wood's next fight will be more challenging now that they saw him almost ruined with body shots.

But sadly Wood can handle Warrington's punching power.

Before the devastating combo that ends the fight, Wood is able to sneak a right hook on the chin while Warrington is trying to give a right hook punch to the body making his defense goes a bit lower, then that makes Warrington wobbly and unoriented making him loosen his defense and Wood saw the opportunity and release a combo that knock outs Warrington.

It was really a good fight to watch, winning from behind through KO is really and exciting turn of event.

That is the thing with Warrington, he throws a lot of bombs but there are no power behind it. And he has a soft chin as well, due to the fact that he has been in a lot of wars, that's why when Leigh Wood touches it, you can see in his face that he is about to go down and he did. Although he was able to beat the count, he was in unsteady legs that's why the referee stop it.

Although in the post interview, Warrington was really confused as why he was not given a second chance by the referee. At least go to his corner.

Quote
“I’m devastated,” Warrington said during their press conference. “Obviously, cruising the fight. We’re up on the scorecards. And, you know, switched off for a split second. And it’s boxing. I heard the bell go, turned around at eight and I thought I would’ve been at least given the opportunity to sit down. I know the referee’s there for our safety, but I’m 14 years deep into [my] career. You know, one bad night [at the] office … never really been hurt. This is me seventh world title fight, so yeah, I do feel that I should’ve been at least given the opportunity to carry on.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/warrington-i-feel-like-i-ve-least-given-an-opportunity-carry-on--178342

For Leigh Wood, he said that his next fight will not be at 126 lbs.

Yes, sometimes we really don't know what will be the outcome of the fight. But since both fighters are really a warrior they go at it from the first round and it was a very good fight indeed. It was a brawl and I guess the real winning is the boxing fans again as this witnessed a great fight. Might be possible for a candidate for fight of the year? Warrington might have to think his options or it's better if he takes a long rest after this lost.

So what's next for Leigh Wood?

Lots of options for him, from the current weight class or go up in weight as he might have issues with his current weight. But in any case, Wood next fight could be another war, so hopefully we can see him again early next year.

He needed to think about it and try to re-assess his potential before deciding if what next step for his career that he will going to take, there's always open opportunities even you lose from your current fight, the thing is you need to make sure that once that opportunity come up you will take it knowing that there's an edge that you can climb back to where you stop, something that will help you to re-try your chance and if by fate to regain your name.

Yeah, after winning there are many options from him and his camp, promoters will give him that option and allow his team to pick whatever they think will be a good one for him, both career hypes and money that will be generated will surely the focus as fans will demands him to be on the ring after that great performances.

BoxRec's top 10 ratings shows that featherweight is a stacked division. Matching any of these fighters together would make for a compelling fight. There is also Naoya Inoue just one division below. If he becomes undisputed he could move up and find a worthy opponent.
...

In other boxing action Zurdo Ramirez won a wide decision in his cruiserweight debut against former champion Joe Smith Jr. Cruiserweight is among the worst divisions in boxing so Zurdo shouldn't have much trouble becoming world champion.

I would love to see unification fights at 126. I consider Robeisy as its #1, followed by Lopez, Wood, and Vargas. As for Wood, he mentioned that he would give Warrington a rematch if necessary. It's really possible knowing Warrington was winning the fight before the stoppage. I can feel that Inoue is moving up late next year, especially that all of the current champions are beatable.

And I can't believe you're using Boxrec for the rankings mate. Tongue I thought only casuals would use that. Boxrec sucks at rankings, they're horrible. I still use the bible of boxing (The Ring) but I mostly prefer the independent TBRB.

Zurdo-Smith was boring. I expected more from Smith but he seems heavy and is still adjusting in this division. But the division is boring indeed although I'm happy Okolie finally lost his belt. The only chance for the division to make waves again is to make unification fights. I got Jai beating them all.

John Riel Casimero VS Yukinori Oguni

The fight ended up in a draw now this is the sparring partner of Naoya Inoue if you look at the paper you can see that John Riel Casimero can really win this fight but seeing the fight in 1st round the fight surely goes with John Riel Casimero, and Yukinor Oguni did stop fighting as a professional boxer and his last fight was on May 20, 2022, and he is not active anymore in boxing but you can still see his determination inside the ring for sure this is just the sparring partner of Naoya Inoue, but for sure to be a sparring partner you need to be somehow near the level of Inoue, but for sure I really doubted this as John Riel Casimero, in my opinion, didn't do well at all and fighting Naoya Inoue could be suicidal, the fight ended in a draw because of unintentional headbutt and John Riel Casimero also said that their heads indeed class and he accepts the referee's decision, for sure I really think that fighting Naoya Inoue will be going to be hard for Casimero indeed,

I have to re check the rules though, but as far as I can remember, if the fight hasn't gone into 5 rounds, (the fight ended in the 4th), then there is accidental head butt and the fighter can't continue, the fight is ruled as a draw.

I give Round 1 to Casimero as Oguni won't be clinching if he ain't feeling those punches that are being thrown by "Quadro Alas" he also throws a lot of punches and most of them are connecting either in the face or in the body. Oguni also tried to play dirty in the first round punching Casimero at the back of his head in a clinch and he did it again in the 2nd round twice, the referee should start taking points at that time. Casimero is getting frustrated at this moment that's why I give Oguni the 2nd round. 3rd is a tie, maybe, it's not much, more on clinching.
I can see that Casimero's strategy is to get in because of the height and length difference but I don't think that cut of Oguni is from a headbutt.

I think Casimero has bad luck following him, why do these things always happen to him? I don't know. It will be difficult to climb up the ladder when most of his fights will end up like this.

It's really hard to say, I mean when he did go up in super bantamweight, it seems that we are seeing a different Casimero? Maybe because of his age? or the quality of his opponents? But we can't see this kind of controversy in a fighter though.

And if some string of bad luck has been following him. We thought that he can take out Oguni with a knockout, but what we witnessed? it was a draw. No one see that it will ended this way. So we really don't know who is to blame with this kind of result throughout Casimero superbantamweight career.  So with this kind of result, I don't think that Inoue will be interested on him.

That is an unfortunate result for both fighters but especially Casimero who is looking for a world title opportunity. This fight did nothing to move his career forward and from what he showed in these few rounds didn't convince me that he will ever be good enough to beat Inoue. At least he didn't take much damage and can come back quickly. He is still ranked high enough to fight in a title eliminator and become mandatory.

After rewatching the fight it was clear that it was a headbutt and not coming from a punch from Casimero, so yeah it was a shame that the fight was stopped because of a Headbutt, in the post-fight interview John Riel Casimero said that he was just getting the feel of Oguni's punch that is why he was caught multiple times with Oguni's punch for sure many Filipino will accept this reasons on why the 1st round was really smooth with Casimero and surely Casimero is winning that round but on the later rounds it was Yukinori Oguni's round for sure I could say I really don't know if this is true but I am doubting What John Riel Casimero is saying here because I know Casimero could be Arrogant at times when he said something but still I am really wishing him the best,

I give Round 1 to Casimero as Oguni won't be clinching if he ain't feeling those punches that are being thrown by "Quadro Alas" he also throws a lot of punches and most of them are connecting either in the face or in the body. Yup! I have seen that as well Yukinori Oguni should be penalized because of it but because it is their home court Yukinori Oguni surely has an advantage in this, as you can see the referee is Japanese, unlike when the fight was in the Philippines for sure the Referee would come from a different race mostly a white guy for sure, and not a Filipino but for sure if that head butt didn't happen John Riel Casimero could win this,

This fight is to prove that he has a chance to fight Naoya Inoue judging that Yukinori Oguni did a great thing inside the ring we can not say for sure that Yukinori Oguni is still slow a fighter and for me, I didn't see the real John Riel Casimero inside the ring because the pace of his opponent was slow Casimero's movement was also slowed  I really don't know what happen but I really didn't see the old Casimero for sure he underestimated his opponent,

Though Casimero did land several blows to Oguni, it wasn't enough. Oguni just absorbed those punches and then Casimero spent all his might in the 1st round which I do believe he gassed out which seems to be obvious in the 2nd round. Somehow he hugged Oguni countless times.

It can't be enough to defeat Inoue. If it were Inoue he was fighting today, he would be knocked out.
With the result of this fight, Casimero's chance to fight Inoue is not possible anymore. He was once a champ but he is now in decline.

The way he prepared for this fight is not enough if in case that he will be facing Inoue, he converted good solid punches in the first round but yes he hugs a lot in the 2nd and that might be the chance for the monster to bring him down and kiss the floor, we all know how good Inoue was if that kind of preparation fighting him, he just easily break that strategy and end the fight in the early rounds.

Let see if what will be the next destination for Casimero, both fights in this division ended up with a draw, not sure if that performance will attract fans to call the attention of Inoue's camp.
