We have an event this coming weekend it is not that big of a fight but I think this will suffice for people that are interested in watching boxing for the Weekend,

Anderson vs. Martin

-snip-
This will be a boxing fight that is expected in the future because it brings together two great fighters in the weight class.
Anderson has a very epic fighting history and also several championship titles he has won.
Anderson became a boxer with 14 fights without a single defeat.
Meanwhile, Martin himself is a boxing fighter with 33 fights and won 29 wins 3 losses and 1 draw.
The meeting of these two boxers will be the main draw and there will surely be tons of boxing fans ready to watch and bet on the fight.

I've read that Joshua Franco has retired after his lost to Ioka in Japan.

We know that he lost his belt on the scale because he didn't make the weight in their fight, 115 lbs and was over the limit and even weight as high as super bantamweight. He cited though, that he has go to thru a lot emotionally and so another case of mental issues. And so before it blows up, he just decided to retire for good.

Quote
“For the majority of my career I have been going through a lot of mental problems that I was doing my best to control. I never liked talking about it publicly because I didn’t want anyone to think I ever made an excuse for anything or for anyone to look at me different. I battled through it as much as I could to still perform and give you guys some great fights. For anyone that battles through any type of mental health issues please know you are not alone. And you can’t let anything stop you from achieving your dreams.

What an unfortunate news this is. If indeed Joshua Franco has retired then that mental health issue is true and this is not a problem that we could overcome by weeks time, took a lot of time to recover from this health issue. That also might be the reason why his performance was sub par on his first match with Ioka and not making the weight big time is result of this whole mental health issue.

Franco is still young, 27 years old to be exact, i hope he can continue his career when this whole ordeal is over.

Wow, lot of boxers now having this mental health issue, first it was Ryan Garcia but recovered so no reason why we can't see Franco 2 years from now.

It was also a big surprised to me to see Franco announcing his retirement at a young age of 27. But as you have said, even the best of them Ryan Garcia suffers from it and it took time for him to recover, and then change coach from Reynoso->Goosen.

Have some tuneup and then lost to Davis. Maybe after Franco conquer his inner demons, then maybe we can see him back in the next couple of years with renewed interest to become a champion again. It's not that late as he still will be in his late 20's early 30's and still can fight and pull the trigger. The landscape of his weight class might be very different though if he comes back.

Though I agree with what you just said, he still young and if he decide to fight back, he still have that capability, but that inner will is something that hard to overcome, if his interest or if it's a health issue, there's already inside him that will doubt himself and prevent him in doing his best.

We might hear news and updates after his retirement and if by chance he will be back, it might be another journey for him to bring that name up and hypes his career just in case a change in heart will take place.

Let's not overthink it. It's normal to experience losses in boxing. Donaire didn't even consider retiring after his loss to Inoue, so I'm confident that Franco can mentally overcome his own experience. It's the will that matters, and with proper training, he could potentially make a comeback, perhaps in a higher weight class to avoid difficulties in adjusting.

I think Franco realized he can't become big and popular in boxing, so he retired earlier and choose other way to make money. A boxer retired early remind me with Naseem Hamed where many people speculate he's the next Muhammad Ali, but it's not. After he suffer his first lose and win in the next fight, he retired early at 28 years old.

Ryan Garcia is already popular and he can make money even though he cherry pick his opponent, but he dare to accept to fight with Tank and accepting his first lose.

There were news that Deontay Wilder has set the contract to the camp of Andy Ruiz Jr.

And Andy seems to have responded already based on that and said that yes, there is negotiations going on and he is coming after the Bronze Bomber. So let's see, hopefully the earlier the better for this to happen.

Because there is also news floating around that AJ vs Wilder in December. And Francis Ngannou said that he also have a fight with Wilder after December.

https://twitter.com/calfkickercom/status/1669903199199690753

I heard conflicting news. Eddie Hearn confirmed in one of his interviews that Deontay Wilder will fight Anthony Joshua on December.

Also, it would be a mistake if Francis Ngannou fought Wilder, I reckon. Ngannou's team should negotiate for a fight vs. Tyson Fury.  It will be the biggest money he can get while the hype is still alive. If Ngannou fights Wilder for a smaller amount and loses, this will kill the hype and all interest for Fury vs. Ngannou will die.

In any case, there is also some rumors that Ryan Garcia will fight Rolly Romero in September if the contracts are signed this month.
The fight between Wilder and Andy Ruiz might be in jeopardy as the camp of Ruiz didn't accept the proposed fight, specially his father is fuming over the contract. They wanted a 50/50 split of the purse, but the camp of Wilder just gave them 30% which for them is not fair since Wilder is no longer a champion and then fought cherry picking Helenius.

While Ruiz put a great display against King Kong Ortiz. So let's see, if this fight not happening then maybe Wilder vs Joshua can happen this December.

I'm for Wilder if Wilder vs Joshua will eventually be set. So much news coming out but non of them are confirmed really, everything depends on the cut they gonna get.

For Ngannou he would fight as much as possible in boxing since one fight on it, is more than enough of a year in UFC. It's his team that wants to arrange money negotiation though so there will still be talks. But I can see he will fight each Wilder and Fury in the future.

For Ngannou he would fight as much as possible in boxing since one fight on it, is more than enough of a year in UFC. It's his team that wants to arrange money negotiation though so there will still be talks. But I can see he will fight each Wilder and Fury in the future.

I'm with you with the Joshua vs Wilder fight. We have been waiting for this for so long, even during their primes (no losses yet), they are a big buzz that both are going to face each other.

But we have seen what had happen in their careers though, but still, I would buy PPV if this two are going to face even at the twilight of their careers. Specially Joshua's who have suffered back to back lost. Wilder did make a comeback win, but it's obvious a cherry pick for the Bronze Bomber.

Not the kind of Teo that we use to see, he was having fun. Is Taylor just too slow or Teo had really improved well?  Either way, its very stunning and boxing fans could by now will see Teo not just a kid who had some luck over Loma. Still Taylor fans couldn't believe it. It could just be because Taylor was too flushed to to get the weight at 140.

If Teo was much faster and relied to volume while Taylor seem to have gassed out, he could have KO Taylor to be more impressive.

I think the same as you, here if Teo went into orbit to improve his speed the results would be impressive, I think that things with Tse's training focused more on his resistance and channeling his force, when speed is trained things can go more in having less resistance and totally appealing to the knockout, the bad thing is that if that strategy fails, the wear is very fast and it may be that he runs out of strength to endure the other rounds, sometimes the boxers who appeal to the knockout is because they use a a superior amount of their strength and leave something to save so they can respond for the other rounds, but here what he has to do is look for that speed.

Now that TEO won, it is not that he is confident, he has a lot ahead of him and yes, a lot to learn, but the challenges will be more and more difficult, in boxing things can be seen very well, but from one moment to the next everything It can collapse, that's what Teo has to take care of.

Which means that there are a lot of things going on from behind, whether it will be Wilder vs Ruiz, or Wilder vs Joshua.

Even Eddie Hearn said the the Saudis have planned like in December,

Francis Ngannou vs Derek Chisora,

And then have Wilder vs Joshua

And Fury vs Usyk.

That will be a crazy event, and with the Saudi's has huge money to offer, who knows, this fight card could really happen.

They are going at it in public, Wilder says that Ruiz should be man enough and make his own decisions (referring to him with his father do the talking). But his father insists to get 50:50 as this might be their verbal agreement before.

In any case if this fight does not happen, Wilder still has a lot of options like the Joshua fight which we love to see.

As for Ryan Garcia, his team are fighting GBP right now, so I doubt that he will have another fight this year.

It it also worth noting that Teofimo Lopez did that amazing upset amidst the issues that are going on in his life, yet that didn't became a hurdle for him to lose his focus and it even became a reason for him to be much stronger as people at that time is looking at him without any confidence that he can win the fight and was laughing at him, including me, because his words doesn't really make sense. But now, he proved to all of us that he is a different version now.

Yes, before having any additional fights this year, Ryan and his team should clear up the problems with GBP first because I'm quite sure that GBP will not let Ryan Garcia have his way easily without him having the demands. Anyway, I also doubt that Ryan Garcia's camp is inclined to have another fight this year because they surely know that they need a lot more preparations before he can be ready for a next fight.

That is going to be long and deliberate though, if I'm with Ryan though, I'll just try to fight under GBP and then finished my contract and then move on. Not sure though how long his contract with Oscar though, but he has fought like 3x already. So maybe another 2 fights will do and then he can do whatever he wants with his career.

It's a mental thing, so it might be very difficult to come back as compare if you just suffered a lost just like Donaire was after his knockout against Inoue the first time. Now we are going to see him make another comeback against Santiago.

As for Franco, we really don't know what kind of damage he has emotionally to just quit what he has been doing for years and this is what brings food in the table for his family. Maybe he is already satisfied on what he has achieved that me might not comeback to fight.

Ngannou have fought Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis, both of them are having a good striking power, but it's still not enough to knock out Ngannou despite they were win the fight. Ngannou might be a strong contender because he has a strong punch and he haven't get KO'ed, although there's a difference between MMA and boxing. What Ngannou need to be careful is his reflect, he might think it's MMA fight and he possibly do some illegal move in boxing, but it's legal in MMA.

As far as Bivol goes, he said he is willing to fight the winner of Charlo vs Alvarez, or at least if Canelo wins. He might have a dance partner this October, England’s Dan Azeez. But let's see if this is going to push through or not. Because Azeez could fight Buatsi as well for a eliminator and winner facing Bivol for this belt.

But within 168 pound division and considering that Canelo win his title defense against Charlo because Bivol also said that he was not really inclined to fight with Canelo and have a rematch in his own division as that will not make any difference at all. I mean, that is reasonable in Bivol's side as it was indeed clear as crystal that Canelo cannot defeat the WBC champ in the LHW division.

He is already desperate though, and so he said that he is willing to go down to 168 lbs and fight Canelo.

But it's already a foregone conclusion now, Bivol will have to wait now, as Canelo is with PBC right now and he is now going to defend his 175 lbs to either the mention names. So still not lost for Bivol, he might just have to continue to win and maybe either Canelo or Beterbiev will still be interested. Beterbiev for unification and Canelo so that he can avenge his defeat to Bivol.
