Today Benin who are sitting at number 3 of the group will host the Super Eagles who haven't won a single game and I think we have to win this game if not we have to go back to our calculator to start counting points of other countries to see how we can qualify.
The first half ending with a score of one goal to Nigeria and two to Benin republic who were the team trailing. Nigeria have been playing and moving the ball around but we are not really showing our Attacking prowess, Our coach does not look technically sound, because what is his reason today for not starting Boniface? We finished second in the AFCON but we are struggling to qualify for the world cup, I blame the Nigerian football federation for send Poseiro away. Raphael Onyedika and Iwobi have been the best players from the first half. In the second half we need the coach to make some tactical changes because we need to start trying to get our equalizer from the moment the second half whistle is blown.
I am not confident about this new coach, his team formation dose not look matured, his ability to tactically coordinate his players is poor and his selection of players is not favorable.
In this match, I think he underrated the opponent that is why he set up with such formation and now that we have started losing 2-1 after we take the lead in the 27th minute, we are very poor defensively and we have conceded two goals just within 10 minutes.

Did you guys think we will qualify to the World Cup? Because we have drew all the three matches we have played so far, and we are about to lose or draw this one, and all the matches are winnable matches to a team like Nigeria.
With the 2-1 loss of the Super Eagles, it is gradually forming into a reality that the Super Eagles may not be qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. This is the 4th match of the Super Eagles, and what they make out of it, is 3 points(3 draws and a loss match), no single win.

What I will just say about this CAF World Cup qualification toward the Super Eagles is that it will completely be a show of shame if, at the end of the World Cup qualification matches, the Super Eagles don't appear in the Group C top table after playing up to 10 good matches(6 more matches remaining to play by next year)

What a shock results from super Eagles players after their draw with south Africa few days ago they finally lost to Benin Republic today what a horrible performance from super Eagles, although one thing I always notice about super Eagles players is that anytime that will put our trust on them they normally find it difficult to win but any one that we see as the toughest is that one that they are going to win, however I think they need to improve in this there paterm of playing to avoid another lose again.

You were shock?  Grin I never and I didn't watch the complete match, I was mad at them because I know I would be heart broken just like  the draw we had with South Africa  in the round group game. Now I'm beginning to appreciate the style of Peseiro after many of us insulted his last style of final with Ivory coast, it's indeed not easy to lead a team who doesn't have good midfielder and now that an inborn ex player turn coach has the position, there isn't entertaining to watch.

Last match, he benched Boniface and did it the second time, look at what Tamimi was doing today, no attack, Ndidi was playing like he wasn't interested. The group stage is not yet over but I'm beginning to have a conclusion that we might not make it to the next world cup to be honest and not only that, Finidi will be sack for sure for not qualifying his boys out of the group stage.

I don't really understand the NFF choice of coach for the Super eagles of Nigeria because literally, The team still need foreign coaches with lots of experience unlike Finidi George because despite that Finidi George has some coaching experience i think he isn't fit enough to coach the Super eagles because the players respects foreign coaches more than a coach from Nigeria.

Finidi George needs a lot of work to do for the Super eagles because if he doesn't qualify then for the world cup next that means his contract will just end so he needs to try his best for the super eagles to qualify. However, as for the chances of the super eagles qualifying for the world cup I don't see that happening because judging from matches they have played previously they didn't play anything at all. Just look at this match they played against Benin republic the match was just a total shame for the eagles.

Do they still have hope of qualification, is that not the end of it for them? I am so disappointed by their performance and what they’ve shown today against Benin proves more to me that they need total formation change in their squad if not they won’t qualify to the World Cup and if they do, they won’t be able to make it that far as expected from them. I just saw that Benin haven’t won any match till today that they scored won their first game against the suppose super eagles who made it to the finals of the African Cup of Nations. Isn’t today’s win going to be a shameful one for them to think of. If they still have the chance, they better make amends before it’s too late for them because it won’t be acceptable by fans to miss the World Cup for two consecutive times.

If you ask me, I'd say the Eagles take international games less important than they do at their clubs.

That's the problem with all African players that are playing in Europe in fact. They care a lot about their teams more than their nations. They make less efforts and contacts to avoid injuries.. You can see Salah in Liverpool and with Egypt, you feel like there is two players with the same name. Same for so many players in Nigeria or other nations.
Talking about Nigeria, they will have a game tomorrow against Benin which is third in the group for the moment and Nigeria is expected to win and jump in front of them.
Am not sure about other country football federations how they treat their national players in terms of pay every bit of numerations and giving much of undiluted priority to critically injured players from an international match for the nation but for the case of  Nigeria I guess past experiences has taught most of these players to act in the manner they do. We all know the bitter truth about this compared to how these players club sides treats and attend to them. If I was a footballer I wonder where you be expecting to give my totality.

In tomorrow's game Nigeria has to win to have a much better chance of qualifying for the WC. Finidi has to make sure to grab this three points at all cost.

If we consider what you say then I will agree with you about players that have a nice wage in top European teams but most of these africain players are not getting that good in their local leagues nor in European ones. The exceptions might be Salah, Mane, Osimhen and few other names that have high salaries. The others aren't doing that good to impress top teams to recruit them.
Alexis Sanchez name for example popped up after a World Cup, same goes for several South American countries. In the last World Cup in Qatar, there wasn't many African players names that were attractive apart from few Moroccan ones mainly.

Congratulations to Benin Republic on their win. They deserve it. We have been told that it is who wants it bad enough that wins. From their equalizer, anyone can see that it was the fault of the defenders. Where were they when Nwabali needed them. If they hadn't left their positions, the goal keeper would have been so exposed that he had to come out of his post thereby giving their opponent the a chance to strike from that distance.

I don't feel their is need to blame anyone or player in particular as the whole Nigerian team is to be blame for even putting their selves in that kind of critical condition in the first place and this isn't the first let alone will it be the last so I don't really know how they do this and besides they would have sealed up their qualifications just other big African nations but no they always like the last minute qualification and that's what it caused you for having a 50/50 of making, I mean you are not the only team with the urge to qualify?.

It's official. Nigeria have lost it. I'm sure eyes will be on the coach who hasn't been able to perform well since he was given the job. Drawing the first game and losing this second one is not a good thing to put on a resume.
Nigeria only had one assignment today and that was to win the game and instead of winning, they had to lose and it was so disappointing that they took the lead as early as the 27th minutes. I wonder who all these nations are to be given Nigeria trouble and I'm beginning to think we should stop participating in competitions because it will always end up in either frustrating defeats or appalling draws.
See how they struggled to beat a weak side like Benin and I'm wondering if they can be able to do anything if they are paired against a side like Senegal or Cameroon. What will save them now if they couldn't defeat Benin? Will they play a return leg or what?

George Finidi, the new Super Eagles coach, was tasked with leading the Nigerian team to the World Cup. It now looks like the former Ajax international is not the right person for the job. He has always argued that he wanted the freedom to choose players and even went to the extent of rejecting the assistance of former Nigerian international Daniel Amokachi. The team showed some form of improvement in the game against South Africa, especially in the second half but today's game result shows that the Super Eagles is far from regaining the reputation they gained during the 1994 World Cup when they surprised the world. Now, their fate in qualifying for the World Cup depends on the performance of other teams. I wonder if Nigerians will be patient enough to strike with Finidi even if he fails to lead the team to the World Cup
Well, I think it's unfortunate that Finidi George had to be employed as the Super Eagles head coach at such a crucial time as this; leaving him little room to prepare and show the world if he's worthy enough to remain as coach because I feel things could take shape if he's given more time but I doubt he'd be kept back seeing as he wasn't t able to provide satisfactory results. I mean, the former Coach, Jose Peseiro managed to take them to the AFCON finals but still wasn't good enough for the NFF, is it George then that will stay?

Actually, when watching the game between Nigeria vs Benin republic, I was just asking myself when did the Nigerian team has become this bad? Because what I saw yesterday, was a team that was playing without any system, no desire, the Benin republic players wanted it more than the Nigerians, our played were just running around the whole field of play like a headless chickens that has no direction, so I was just asking like, why would they replace the former coach in the first place? If we can't beat a team like benin republic, then who can we win?

Sincerely speaking, Nigerian national team is very much terrible, under the leadership of finidi George, someone that cannot do anything good with eyimba , that is the person the Nigerian nfa gave the task of coaching the super eagles, till this clueless finidi George is replaced, I don't think Nigerian team stand a chance of even coming out third in their group.

Honestly this is the worse I have seen from the Super Eagles with the kind of players we have and how well they have been performing, why is this coach acting as if he has an internal problem with some players? At this point I don't see Finidi George as the Super Eagles head coach and we don't have one at the moment, we only have a coach in the media not on the football pitch, he talks too much but no tactics to make use of.
No plan of qualifying at the moment, 4 goals in 4 games and 4 point, does it look like we have a chance of going to the world cup? No way, if we can't beat our fellow Africa country is it one of those European countries that we can beat? To me is better not to qualify for the World Cup than going there to disgrace ourselves.

With the 2-1 loss of the Super Eagles, it is gradually forming into a reality that the Super Eagles may not be qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. This is the 4th match of the Super Eagles, and what they make out of it, is 3 points(3 draws and a loss match), no single win.

When the super eagles scored the first and their only goal in the match against the Benin republic team, I was happy and I felt confident that the eagles were going to win the match, and in the worst case scenario that it might end in a draw. But I felt sad when the Benin republic, team, equalized and later went ahead to win the match, infact the eagles are dashing my hopes of seeing them in the world cup finals. This is an opportunity for Finidi George, to change his formation and give us a win, so that we can have faith in indigenous coaches, because this is his opportunity to shine and take the team to the world cup. In football anything can happen, so let us not totally write off our eagles, until it's over.

Sometimes I fail to understand African teams. I mean there is no longer top teams and weak teams. They are all weak right now with only few exceptions.
When I see the latest results I wonder if these teams play football in real life or trying to help gamblers win from "unexpected" results?
Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Nigeria and Tunisia missed points against team that used to be lower than them. Some of these teams have repetitive disappointment during this competition and before it by the way..
South Africa, Morocco and Cameroon will play later. I expect them to win with a possibility of a draw for Cameroon.

unfortunately most Africans are easily deceived and manipulated, they cannot understand that the problems of poverty and corruption that exist in African countries are the fault of African leaders and not Europeans, but African people think that it is the fault of Europeans and because From this, they began a campaign in which they gradually moved away from the Europeans and in football, when it comes to choosing coaches for the national team, Africans no longer choose good European coaches, not all African countries do this, but the majority Of the African countries, mainly Nigeria, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Tunisia, have African coaches, and this is causing these teams to become weak, they do not play as well as in the past.

Guinea 0 - 1 Mozambique

 Grin Grin Grin

my country Mozambique is on a good path, it is true that this victory was very difficult to achieve, but even so there are 3 points that we achieved and thanks to this victory that the scenario of the group from my country Mozambique is in this situation:

my country's next game will be against uganda, if we manage to win then we can occupy the first position if algeria loses in their game, after playing against uganda, we will play against algeria which will be a complicated game, but if we really want get to the world cup, we need to beat uganda and algeria and the remaining games

why is this coach acting as if he has an internal problem with some players? At this point I don't see Finidi George as the Super Eagles head coach and we don't have one at the moment, we only have a coach in the media not on the football pitch, he talks too much but no tactics to make use of.
I think I was among those who were in support of him being given the job, I now regret it because he is clearly unqualified for the pressure that comes with the job and handling all these talented players. We almost had it, the perfect team, but this present team under Finidi George is not different from the group of boys who play ball each day on the field in my street.

No way, if we can't beat our fellow Africa country is it one of those European countries that we can beat? To me is better not to qualify for the World Cup than going there to disgrace ourselves.
We have no business in the World Cup; there is no need to spend more money on designing a new jersey, flight tickets, hotel accommodations, feeding, and all that for us to go play this embarrassing game in front of the world.

Are fellow African teams really that weak to warrant this expression?
when I see people analyze football in this perspective I just ponder if they really watch African football international games objectively or they just being sentimental about it because they watch a lot of European football lately.

That's by the way.
To be honest am like every other fan no happy with the Nigerian team performance and seeing that they may not go for next world cup breaks my heart. Same Zimbabwe team which Nigeria struggled to get a draw with was same team South Africa trashed 3:1. And to say the least, Nigeria is with just 3 points in their group  occupying the fifth position when teams like Benin Republic, Rwanda, and Lesotho are  occupying the top followed by  South Africa. It appears the underdogs are taking the center stage which wasn't expected.

Well when it comes to the super eagles, its just something that I don't really know what and where the problem is coming from because if you ask me they are probably one of the best teams when it comes to players and they have what we call superstars in that team but the problem now is to merge and make these players work together. When it comes to coach I don't really know if finidi was the right choice but that's not the case anymore as it's all based on the results now.

I will correlate the current Nigeria situation to that of England national team, on individual brilliance they always use to have it but teaming up to win a major tournament is something that they had problems with. Coming down to Nigeria now I think we have similar problems. If you look at the team most especially the attacking department of team I don’t think there is any African nation that boast of such depth I can confidently say Nigerian attacking department will easily be in the top 10 in the world in terms of each player’s brilliance or last season club’s performance. The problem is they can’t score goals because of the lack of creativity in the midfield and they are also shipping in goals again. When the former Technical adviser José Peseiro played with a back three and wing backs he was heavily criticized by Nigerians that he is too defensive. He simply had found out that the team can’t score lots of goals even with the attacking threat they had in the squad and he solved the problem of them not conceding and that drove them to the finals, which they lost. With the football played in that AFCON I was hoping the government will extend his contract but no yet again we are changing managers right in the middle of a World Cup qualifiers

When I saw these countries in the same group with Nigeria in the ongoing World Cup qualification matches, I was very confident that Nigeria will come out at the top of the group because most of the names I saw there are not footballing countries. Despite that, Nigeria is the second best country in Africa as long as this football is concerned for this season after the AFCON. I do not actually believe that Nigeria will be struggling to beat this contest, but unfortunately we are caught by the reality.

What I do not actually understand is why Nigeria dismissed their coach that led them to the first runner up in the just concluded afcon competition. Although I did not have much to say about the current coach of the super Eagles because I was not able to watch him during his time of football. But with the hand writing on the wall, it seems that he is not acceptable by the majority of the super Eagles players.

Now I see the problem, watching few matches under his management has made me to shed tears. I think I have seen the main reason why we always go for foreign coaches other than our local because from what  Finidi George is impacting on the team is too less of what we expect from him, with all the seriousness and put up his doing on media's yet he can not arrange his team to win simple matches, just like the recent match with Benin, unbelievable how we lost that match yet we have numerous international players their but we can't feel them on the field. It's a big slap to Nigerians after loosing that game, and we are just a slight chance away from not qualifying for the World cup.
