Yeah, this championship fight needs to happen, and so is the other sanctioning body's championship and eliminator. The Inoue going up in weight created this kind of mess.

What? How Inoue created this mess? In the first place, he already achieved all things that were needed in the bantamweight division and it just makes sense for him to move up. No need to stay in the 122 division.

It's Jason Moloney who created this mess because he backed off this fight.

It's just that there's no official date released but it's not a problem. We just need to wait.

Yes, Inoue already proved enough that there's nobody at 118 that can be a threat to his throne that needed to be eliminated and it's safe to say that he already swept the good calibers at 118 that's why he climbed to the next weight class to see for himself if he can still dominate the division that is just few pounds away from 118.

And for Donaire's journey, he could've settled this fight already if the Jason Moloney didn't backed out from the mandatory fight. He's the one who should've received something like a punishment because it's a mandatory fight and nobody can back away from it but Moloney did a safe route and found another vacant belt.

.....and we still do not know how Inoue will do on his current division as he is yet to fight Fulton.

We will see, but the hype is very high for Inoue dominating the current division. Hopefully, we will not be disappointed in his coming performance. A dominant boxer would always bring joy to the fans, especially if that boxer is not afraid of taking on challengers, just like what Manny did. Maybe we will see someone like him in the future, or maybe it will be Inoue.

Let's see about that. But I believe Inoue can bring his prowess at super-bantam because if we look at it closely, the weight difference is not that much and most probably, 122 is Inoue's natural weight class because at 118 he needed to trim some of his weights just to suit the weight class but there's no problem about it. And so, in this division, I'm pretty much confident that Inoue can dominate 122. It's been quite a while since an Asian boxer dominated several weight classes.

Right but enough for Inoue vs Fulton because this thread is dedicated to discuss the upcoming fight of Nonito Donaire against Alejandro Santiago for the vacant WBC belt.
Regarding the said fight, I'm optimistic that they can announce a timeline before this month ends and that both camps are already having their conversation to materialize the fight because I clearly don't believe that Santiago will also back out because this is the best chance that he can receive a fight like this considering that he is a few more ranks away from the eligible boxers.

Last time was Manny Pacquiao. I think he can bring his power to 122 lbs, the question is how the natural 122 lbs like Fulton will absorb his power. Although there's not much of a different as far as weight goes, but mostly natural and bigger fighter shows good power absorption. That's why when Manny for example move up in weight, he was not able to knockout the bigger guys in the weight class that he is moving up. But we shall see, this is Inoue's first fight at super bantamweight and so we don't know that to expect from him as far as power and speed as well. Or even his chin as well, if it can hold against the power of Fulton.

One or two division up i think Inoue will still be good at knocking out his opponents, i mean his power will be felt by his opponents. When Manny Pacquaio moved up to featherweight/super featherweight he was a monster back then in that division. Welterweight was the division where he has not knock out his opponents mostly because of the size.

Donaire vs Santiago has no definite schedule yet though this one is a go but i think this will be stage at a later date, anyone got an idea when?

inoue's camp knows what they are up against, so high likely they are preparing on this fight. if they will treat this as a very serious fight for inoue to move up in weight division, i can say, he has great chance to win this fast. but as you do say, we need to see him first fight on this new weight division.
on the note of donaire's fight, if in case he will win over santiago, better consider retiring while he got a good exit from this sports.

Maybe he can still go up to 126 lbs, but it's going to be difficult as he progresses because of the quality of the opponents that he is going to face. Maybe even in the top 5 of any governing bodies, might be hard matchup for Inoue if he pursue higher fights.

But for now, let's focus on Donaire, as you have said, it makes us question why the fight is taking too long to be announce and what is holding it up? Purse bid? money wise?

I also don't have any idea if the fight is going to be made and I guess everyone is still blank on why the delay.

As boxing fans and bettors, we have no choice but to wait for that moment when we can witness a unification fight. While this won't be Donaire's first time in a championship fight, we want to see him become a unified champion since Inoue is no longer in this division.

Therefore, I hope the promoters don't play games and give Donaire what he deserves, which is a big fight. His time in boxing is limited, and he deserves a chance to achieve his goals before he retires.

That's good and there will be no other good thing to have when they retired than unifying all the best in their current weight division. since Donaire still has the power and speed because he is still getting intense training, he can go and take this chance before he finally put down his gloves but before that, he should put a lot of effort to win his next fight first and think about that after he wins it. He needs to focus on this one and get into the right shape to unify all the belts and become one of the legends in this sport.
Sounds simple but this would be tough and its true that he might considering on hanging up his gloves on the time he would unify all the belts of this current division that he belongs in.If he do decide to retire after

on achieving this record then it wouldn't really be that a bad exit imho.If ever he would lose this one (unlikely) then it wont really be still that bad to continue out and chase up some another fight.

It is really just that not really good looking if you do hang up your gloves or retire on a loss. Well, its just my own perception if ever im a boxer but it not
really that appealing at all on that certain state.

Do you think the promotopres will give Nonito that opportunity? As I have seen, they launched the fight with Santiago and that because the other backed down, so here things begin to measure it in the way they always do, how much money will this leave them? If it is worth starting this fight, then if they want to fight for unification, taking advantage of the fact that Inoue no longer has this weight or this category, it would be like giving him a golden opportunity for Nonito, which does not seem bad to me, because he is a very good boxer and has always been very outstanding regardless of his age.

I also see the same, the money that may be gained is what the promoters are analysing up to know, if there's still fans that will buy tickets and all those sponsors to add up with the generated revenue.

if there's still good amount then we might see updates regarding to this fight, it's more on how all will be
compensated and not just because of the fame and pride that fighters will earn after the fight.

There are no updates yet about when the fight will happen.
Even on the Instagram and Twitter of Nonito Donaire, there are no updates yet on when the bout is set. I guess we have no choice but to wait.
Promoters, advertisements, and who knows what else money-making were they setting up before they could release the match date. Because let's face it, Santiago is not a big name in the industry so they will need to boost up the market to make it look more entertaining. For Filipinos, this fight will definitely be watched but I doubt other countries will be marking their calendars and buying PPV for it.

.....and we still do not know how Inoue will do on his current division as he is yet to fight Fulton.

In my opinion, I'm seeing that Inoue's camp is trying to achieve what Manny had accomplished, or they wanted to have more to be one of the best fighter in his era.

Yeah, fans will love a kind of fighter who is not afraid of taking any difficult challenges and with how
Inoue showing his aggressions to continue his journey to another level of competitions for sure he will
be praised and continue to be loved while still fighting.

And I think fans would love to see someone actually trying to surpass Manny, records are meant to be broken, sometimes records can last for decades without anyone being able to break them, and sometimes we see the opposite in which records which people thought were going to remain for a long time are broken by the next generation relatively quickly, will Inoue be able to be as dominant at different divisions as Manny was? I do not know but I am ready to see him trying to do it.

Agree to that, fans will follow him (Inoue) in his journey to surpass what Manny achieved, it's not easy as we all know that in each division there are champs who really fight well defending their belts.

It will be interesting if Inoue will able to take it one by one, he's still young and his built and
fighting capability is really strong. Let's see if how far he and his camp will try to take from
each division that he can move up.

Yes,  beyond 126 lbs Inoue might not bring his power, and Manny is a different beast that time as he was just stream rolling everyone he met in that division. But when he reach his potential at 147 lbs, he stop knocking his opponents out.

All of us here have no clue except that this is ordered by the organization and they should follow it. As we discussed, Donaire should be the one dictating it as he is the number 1 rank and time is no longer in his side.

Yep, this will be a good opportunity for him. It will attract more fights for him but it will always depends on his performance in the match. He is already a champion, many Filipinos still believe in Donaire, despite of some problems he face as well as bout his father still I know he can have a good fight this year and to the next one. he is one of the skilled boxer in this industry, whether he will retire early he has already a name.

Yes you are right that mate it depends on his performance because we all know that nonito donaire is old enough but still without a doubt he can win because he has the ability to adjust and have enough experience in fighting so even though in his age for sure he will became a champion once again.  But after this fight he will dicide to end his journey in boxing then its okay for him it because he is already build his name in boxing industry he is one of those great and legendary boxers.

Well maybe here, it will be a different strategy for him, maybe he will test Santiago and once he read him, he might go for a win or become aggressive in the middle rounds.

Donaire I'm sure won't show any different strategy on this fight. He will just fight like he faced other boxers.

Santiago should not be a big threat for Donaire as he alredy faced the most dangerous boxer in the bantamweight which is Naoya Inoue. Fighting Santiago, he should just feel that his opponent is nothing compare to Naoya Inoue.

Well, what happens is that Inoue has always been on another level, and he has always shown that, for me Donaire is a boxer who wants to do well, he wants to make himself known more for his victories, I am not Saying that Santiago is easy to get along with. to win, but because Donaire has Vast experience and can do unmatched things due to his Ability, it is more likely that he can be the winner, however, I think that now things can go the way they are, we as good fans know Very well that the favorite is Donaire but they can surprise him.

Hopefully, the result of this fight won't be like the Pacquiao vs. Ugas fight. Many people thought that Pacquiao would easily beat Ugas, but Pacquiao's age caught up with him, and he couldn't handle the hard punches thrown by Ugas. Ugas also proved to be very skilled in defending himself, which prevented Pacquiao from using his speed and agility.

Well, in that part you have a complete reason, I saw that fight with the full intention that Pacquiao could give one of those explosive Demonstrations to which we were Accustomed, but I don't know what happened to the Filipino, maybe at that moment it was not thinking more in politics than in anything else, that fight was really a shame, I'm sure that if Pacquiao had Trained a little harder he would have won the fight easily, there are times when athletes trust only their talent and don't train or not they work to improve and be more efficient, and things like that happen.

He mentioned that he was having problems with his foot after the fight, which affected his movement. Pacquiao is known for his quickness, but he wasn't as quick when he fought Ugas, so it's clear that he was telling the truth. However, upsets can happen in boxing, so we can't discount the possibility that Donaire could lose for any number of reasons.

Yes, he retired after that loss. He probably had a lot on his plate, as he was also running for President at that time.

Concentration is a big problem for boxers, and it may have been a factor in his loss. Anyway, his journey in boxing is over, so let's now focus on Donaire and see if he still has anything left in the tank.

Although Donaire may be old, he is still worth watching as long as he keeps winning.

That's being conditional, I think we cannot guarantee that he will win. When he fought Inoue, he was still entertaining to watch because he wasn't afraid to go toe-to-toe, and I liked his confidence in believing he could beat Inoue via knockout, which is why he let his guards off. However, Inoue is an exceptional fighter, and it won't be the same with Santiago, as he's not on the same level as Inoue.

That's true, but if I were Nonito Donaire, I won't let my guard down against Santiago too. Donaire already felt the defeat against Inoue and it must've affected him bigtime mentally, but I believe he will probably come back stronger and he should still stay aggressive with his moves as that is what he is known for.
By not letting Santiago have control of the pace of the game, he will probably win this without heavy damage. That way, whatever he is pursuing next, if it's unifying the titles, then he can do it in a sudden schedule.
He is getting old, he must make haste if he truly wants to achieve what Inoue did.
That sounded like I already concluded the winner but I know he will be.
