Donaire is emotionally hurt after finding out that his father who used to be his former trainer on his first title shot against Darchinyan predicted that he would be knocked out by Santiago

Nonito Donaire Jr. ‘hurt’ after dad predicted he would get knocked out by Santiago

They have a very bitter parting of ways Donaire Sr. should not say that thing it's like wishing that his son to be in trouble you never do that to your son, boxing is a dangerous sport he knows it since he is a trainer also, by saying this he doesn't care on his son anymore.

Yes, I also read this feed in my twitter, I thought him and his father has settled their differences already. But it seems the older Donaire has some hatchet to bury with his son. And it's really sad to hear this one.

It was a bitter separation as far as I can remember, the involvement of Rachel Donaire as a manager in his boxing career really put a dent on his father and they were never the same again.

Donaire probably is like Mayweather, who also does not have a good relationship with his father. Well, it's sad news, but we don't know what happened between them. All we know is that Donaire Sr. is a good trainer, and personally I don't agree with his prediction because it's something personal. He is not making views based on professional judgment.

But at least though there is no personal grudge between the Mayweather. In Nonito Jr case, it seems that his father some some grudge to settle with him and thus he wish that his son getting knockout and not becoming a world champion again.

And his wish becoming true as he lost the fight against Santiago. But I do believed that blood is thicker than water and so after this, we might see them settling their issues and the family is closer again. Hopefully this can happen in the future.

We all know that Donaire Sr. is a trainer and being a trainer, he has keen observation of the physique of a boxer.  I do not think that the Donaire Sr. has ill intention for his son but I believe what the Donaire Sr. stated is about his observation.  Donaire Jr. is way beyond his prime and is in a performance decline while Alejandro Santiago is performing well in had learned a lot which is shown in his recent fight.  Donaire Sr. also know the weakness of his son and it is possible that he thinks that the weakness will be shown in that match.  Donaire Jr. has this tendency to try to one-punch KO his opponent and he becomes impatient doing that especially when the opponent is much shorter than him.  We have seen it in his previous fights.

And his wish becoming true as he lost the fight against Santiago. But I do believed that blood is thicker than water and so after this, we might see them settling their issues and the family is closer again. Hopefully this can happen in the future.

I also agree, the father will always care for his son even if he doesn't show it.  Maybe the father wanted fo his son to reach him first and fix things.

Well, what you've said is actually not far from happening because they might be against each other now but I know that somewhere in the future, both of them will come into terms as it's not good for a father and son to have a grudge like this specially in an Asian household and culture where there might be some misunderstanding, but sooner or later, all of that will cease because in the end, they are a family.

Hopefully, they will be able to settle their issues outside of social media. We know how the news will spread if both Donaire and his
Dad will continue to broadcast what's happening between them.

I think that personal issue should not be shared and in the case that Donaire already forecast what his dad's prediction and it so happens
that it came true.

Hoping that they can correct this and they observe that saying which blood is thicker than water.
