Since nobody made any new proposal lately, I was thinking to add to our to-do list this topic: [ANN] AgoraDesk.com | Buy ♻️ Sell Bitcoins Anonymously!. It's a KYKCless peer 2 peer exchange and it was what all bitcoiners need more and more nowadays, as these exchanges protect their privacy, unlike CEXs.

If the topic will be added to the to-do list, please be aware that it was already translated in Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish and Arabic languages, so there's no need for translations in these languages.

Later edit: 5 translators already accepted the new challenge, for Pidgin, Bengali, Filipino, French and Russian languages. So these languages can be excluded as well. (In fact, the Russian translation is already done.)

I think it helps to promote services (in this case a P2P service which I think deserves a bit of publicity) to people who don't speak or understand English very well. It's not just the active users of the forum, but also those who come to the topic from a search engine who will benefit from the translations.

Personally, I always keep an eye on my topics, and if anyone has any questions to ask in French about any of the topics I've translated, I'll be happy to answer them, because if I don't believe in the said project, I won't translate their ANN. If I don't have the answer, I can tell them who to contact, and do it for them if necessary.

I don't think local boards should be underestimated, even the least active ones can hold useful information for those who arrive there via a search made in their mother tongue, even without being active on the forum itself.

This is true. Besides, once users from local boards become aware of such service, they can also contact the service provider directly, in case they have questions which can not be answered by the topic author. And all bitcoiners need more and more KYCless, anonymous and peer 2 peer services in this era, where CEXs infested every country.

And this is common sense When someone writes a topic (be it a translation or something else), it is normal for OP to be involved in the discussion held inside his own topic... The point is not in local sections, but in the translators themselves, who very often do not understand what they are writing about. Usually it goes like this:

Someone comes to the forum and is interested in the service, OP does not respond at all to questions in his thread, after which the user goes to the main thread in English and receives answers to all questions.

The forum is not only an information platform, but also a place for discussions.  If someone writes a translation about a service, but he does not understand the basic mechanisms of the service and has no experience in using the service, then this translation is not information, but simply a mountain of garbage.

Dear Ratimov, I would like to know what translators you are talking about specifically, because as far as I know many of us are not only translating these topics (100% by hand, at least in my case, and I'd swear that I'm not the only one), but answering the questions the members of our local boards have about them too, and also keeping them alive while the interest on the topic lasts.

Instead of criticize us all in a generic way, I genuinely think that it would be much more helpful to give a wake-up call to these translators you found to be making things wrong.

btw, i would like to reserve the translation into polish and german for the AgoraDesk topic - i will try to finish these translations in the next week.

• We contribute to our respective local boards by translating some of the best posts/threads of the forum pro bono in order to create value there, returning part of what this beautiful forum has given to us.
• We break the boundaries between local boards and share ideas and experiences with new friends from different nationalities because we are all Satoshi no matter our homeland.

In fact, our main goal is not to "translate services", but the most interesting and educational topics into our languages, so people who wouldn't read about them into English because of the language barrier can learn about them too. You can take a look into our List of translations and you'll see what I'm talking about.

So I think that you are talking about services like AgoraDesk (which I personally voted against translating, but our team is democratic so I don't make the decisions here) is the exception, not the rule. I hope this answer makes you change your mind about the point of our alliance.

Including, yes. But at the same time, this topic needs to be supported, sometimes publishing some updates regarding the service or the operation of its individual components.

For example, a local topic Unijoin was opened in the Russian locale 👤 [banned mixer] | Baшa aнoнимнocть - нaш пpиopитeт | CoinJoin 👤. This topic is alive and constantly updated, which makes sense. And if a translator from your alliance simply created a thread and does nothing else, does not support the topic in any way, then there is no point in such translations.

Let's come back to this conversation in 1-2 months, and I'll show you what I mean.

Please, come back whenever you want because the insight of veteran members like you is always helpful. But, please, understand that our goal is not to support projects like Unijoin, AgoraDesk or whatever. With all my respect, I think that trees are preventing you from seeing the forest in this particular occasion.

you raise a very important point here and i know what you mean. of course the topic the a aobt-user has translated should be kept up to date and if necessary he should identify himself with it in a way. but it is also the case that maybe a few of us lose the complete overview of their work due to the number of own translations and therefore the maintenance of the local threads is neglected - here the own organization is needed.
i personally try to keep my translations up to date. here is a topic that can be used to see if the actual translator keeps an eye on the updates and keeps his translation up to date:

One more update here: there is also an Indonesian translation in progress, so Indonesian language should also not be considered anymore. dansus021 is doing this translation.

Pardon me, but I remember that some weeks (months?) ago I sent a PM to all translators which translated this topic of mine, just after the issue with Imgur images. I added new image links inside my topic, which were working, and I asked the translators to update the image links from their translations.

From all the translators I contacted, all excepting you replied to me and also updated the links of the images from that thread.

So it does not seems fair to come here and throw accusations to the left and right (although you were not a client of this alliance and, therefore, you were also not prejudiced in any way), while you did exactly what you pointed in the above quote.

No hard feelings, but it just not seems right to act like this.

Basically yes. It would be common sense that when someone asks you something, to reply. Or, in this case, you could simply just make that update.

You were talking about translators which do not care about keeping their topics updated. I gave you a counter-example: you also have a topic (this translation) where you did not apply the updates.

Lol, this is a topic from 3 years ago, you should have dug up some of my 2019 topics and wondered why I didn’t update it.

I don't know how others proceed, but when I am making a translation I keep it always updated, even after years. At least, in case I am aware of changes made to the original text. The time should not be a criterion here, if the translator is aware that the original author updated a text he translated. This is what true dedication looks like.

there are two ways for the translator to keep his translated topics up to date.
(1) you inform yourself about new updates by visiting the original thread and updating it in your own translation or (2) the user who created the original thread informs all known aobt members who have translated his topic about the current updates with the request to include them in the said translations and to update them accordingly.
but relying only on the second point is not good enough in my eyes, if you want to act as an aobt-member here and provide your compatriots with the latest knowledge - you should also bring a lot of initiative into the whole thing and approach things with passion
