Bitcoin users are called "Bitcoiner(s)".
Litecoin users are called "Litecoiner(s)".
etc.

How are Monero users called?

Is there already a cool name/term? Or do we need to create/find one? Obvious best via a community decision.

Monerian.

or if there's Esperanto rules regarding this, that would pertinent. Monerita?

-an (O->O): member, adherent, participant of the root.
      komitato = committee               komitatano = a committee-member
Budho = the Buddha                 budhano = a Buddhist
                        ano = a member

therefore esperanto would be "Monerano" imo, see http://donh.best.vwh.net/Esperanto/affixes.html#nouns

May I, Come-In-Behind, give my humble suggestion.

Moner(s)(j).

As this coin, Monero, doesn't have the word "coin" in it's name(A genius move for marketing i.e people won't think it's play money), I believe the word Moner would fit nicely.

On a side note, I despise all forms of money, but I respect those that seek to change the world.

My English isnt great (as you all have already noticed, haw haw.) But to me "moner" sounds to much like "moaner".
You wont get a girl in discothek, when you say: "Yo baby, I am better and wealthier then your Bitcoin boyfriend. I am the real deal, I am a Moner." Smiley

TNX shitaifan2013 for correct Esperanto-spelling.

True, I was thinking of the pronunciation Moh-ner, but it would most likely get pronounced moner(Moo-ner) as well.

I was hoping that Monero get traction after Bitcoin price jump. I was wrong. I think Monero need still a lot of time for development. We still can't see an official wallet for 9 months and userbase will not be expanded. Why do people buy Monero this time? We need to give them a reason.

Monerer will probably be used; by analogy with "bitcoiner".

I did not say I like it. This is what I conclude from linguistics. New words rarely care for etymology, they care for similar-sounding for similar-idea.

I was thinking that, the masternodes are still assisting in providing services to others.
You are right, they do more services to the network then assisting the TX obfuscating process.

This is far from clear. One actually needs a strong understanding of both the FinCEN regulations and the inner workings on how a Darkcoin masternode actually works. Of course anyone can apply to FinCEN for a specific ruling, presumably with a bona fide intent to actually run a Darkcoin masternode in the United States. The way I prefer to look at the masternode as an MSB question is that there is a significant regulatory risk present in Darkcoin that is not present in Monero.  The degree of this risk may take a fair amount of work and research to determine.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

Mon - error. ..  Not sure I like that either.

In French, "monero" sounds very close to a childish way to say "my hero". No one has issue with it.
The Chevrolet Nova sold very well in Spanish-speaking countries, despite meaning "doesn't work" (no va) in Spanish.
The Škoda brand of automotives has an excellent reputation in Slovenia, even though "škoda" means "shit" in Slovene.

What I want to say is that, given enough context, we humans completely forget what looks like a ridiculous meaning. I must admit I needed to teach myself linguistics to stop falling in these traps Smiley

Monero users can pick our own name. If we want to be like everyone else, Moneroer (only two Rs rather than three) would probably be used.

It's not bad. It reminds me of Boers from South Africa.

For fun, I researched some demonyms for people from places ending in -o.

the endings, as applied to Monero, are

1.
-nian (e.g. Torontonians are from Toronto)
Moneronian

2. -ene (e.g. A Cairene is from Cairo) often used in Greek
Monerene

3. -ese/-lese (e.g. Congolese are from Congo)
Moneroese

4. -asque (e.g. Monégasque are from Monaco) often used in French
Monegasque

5.-vian (e.g. Osolovians are from Oslo)
Monerovian

6. -an (e.g. Puerto Ricans are from Puerto Rico), dropping the -o
Moneran

Some of these are just funny.

Isn't it the openalias principle as used by monero already?

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's.
This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

I recall learning & saying googolplex before Google existed, because I was probably 12 at the time and it was cooler than saying "infinity +1".  Grin

Smart lamps are pretty cool too--moneraries use them to illumonate monestaries.
