Simple metaphor of why Monero is better at anonymity than attempting to anomize a pseudonymous crypto:
If you want the best off-road vehicle, you don't put a Camry on a lift kit and start tinkering with it to make it off road capable; you build an off road vehicle that was designed from scratch to be the best off-road vehicle available.

Cross posting David's post: i registered because i see the patern, we are still largely ignored, monero is fundamentally better than bitcoin but still ignored by everybody. Well, let's see who is speaking high of Monero or CryptoNote in general and has some reputation. I've seen worse ignorance. More information: Why Monero matters, The Three Pillars of MoneroExcellent words! Why ignorance? I think Monero devs do ignore themselves. As minimum doing, that platinum word should be at monero.cc and forum.monero.cc. But that words are read by very narrow group of enthusiasts monitoring this thread...

fluffypony & David Latapie & all the core team, may be you find this interesting: Sophia is an embeddable, transactional key-value database.
It has unique architecture that was created as a result of research and reconsideration primary algorithmic constraints of Log-file based data structures, such as LSM-tree. (see architecture)
Sophia is designed for fast write (append-only) and read (range query-optimized, adaptive architecture) small to medium-sized key-values. ------
* Full ACID compliancy
* Multi-Version Concurrency Control (MVCC) engine
* Pure Append-Only
* Multi-databases support (Single environment and WAL)
* Multi-Statement and Single-Statement Transactions (SERIALIZED view, multi-databases)
* Multi-threaded (Client access and Engine scalability)
* Consistent Cursors
* Point-in-Time Snapshots
* Asynchronous Online/Hot Backup
* Easy to use (Clean and functional API)
* Easy to integrate (Native support of using as storage engine)
* Easy to write bindings (FFI-friendly, API designed to be stable in future)
* Easy to built-in (Amalgamated, only two C files needed for work)
* Implemented as small C-written library with zero dependencies
* BSD Licensed
http://sphia.org/+10. As I remember, fluffypony did say about they can switch between many database engines quite easily. Sophia offers very fast ACID 'append' transactions as well as 'search' ones. It is ideal for large blockchains, is not it?

Have a great SuperBowl day guys! To you too. I wish they won't run it on a Saturday afternoon in the US, as that makes it the night to Monday for Europe and Africa, which is just very inconvenient. Why not Saturday afternoon? Yeah, that doesn't make sense. Idunno? OK, Too lazy to setup irc for tiperino, So any Seahawk fan that I trust wants to bet with me on superbowl? I have 700 XMR and will put it on my pats straight up. No lines no gambling adjustments just straight up winner take all. Have a great SuperBowl day guys! well I don't know much about handegg, but I'd be willing to bet 100XMR on the seahawks deal? Well I don't know you but your a hero member with no neg so I don't see why I can't take your word. Your on, GL and Just an FYI, I called Wilson as a most underrated probable great in his rookie year (When everyone else was Keapernick crazy) because he's one smart bastard! gonna be a great game. Anyone else speak up soon as I'll be leaving in an hour or so. 600 XMR left ok, cool. gl dude! btw. since I'm in germany don't be surprised if I won't be online directly after the game, pretty sure I'll fall asleep while watching. I'll be at casino for who knows how long so I will take awhile to pay as well. I'll be back sometime between tonight and Friday depending on how the Poker tables are treating me. congrats dude! shall I use the address in your signature to send the funds too? What a sick ending! did you watch it? I'll double check my address when I get home. It may be earlier rather than later, a guy hit a straight flush on me for 2k then i lost a ton on set over set. yes, i fell asleep in between, but I saw most of it. way more entertaining than last year just drop me the adress here or via msg whenever you got it.

We must keep in mind here that the government has both the sending and receiving computers and the corresponding secret keys for both the sending and receiving wallets. They are trying in this situation to link the coins that were sent from the SR servers to the coins in the defendant's computer. My thought is that replacing XBT with XMR would not help the defendant in this situation since in the XMR case the government would still be able to use the corresponding view keys to provide evidence of the transactions to the court. This is actually quite properly by design.
yes, and if you are dumb enough to compromise your own private key and crimonous enough to be involved with drugs and potential murder, you deserve this fate. edit: can I make suggestion for the title of the next mixxives?: Monero: Tropical disease and Monero: Twitch of the nerve Don't let the trolls get you down. rikkejohn, especially, has been trolling us almost since the very beginning. I have no idea why. If you have something to say that is relevant and on topic, stand your ground. Retreating/containing yourself to the Monero threads is both unnecessary and giving the bullies exactly what they want. Some of them are irrationally hostile to alts but some are just putting a bit of pressure on you to see if you and your claims hold up. It not even personal or directed against Monero necessarily, they've seen a lot of scams come and go so they are naturally skeptical. At the same time I'm not a fan of trying to direct a hard sell to hostile audience. It is usually not the most effective approach. When outnumbered and facing strong opposition, engage in unconventional warfare. May be all of his efforts are not working to de-stable the coin.

They currently go here first I think: https://forum.monero.cc/1/news-and-announcementsThey are then cross-posted into this thread. If your concern is "hey I haven't seen a missive in a while" its because, in general, the dev team has moved to publishing missives after milestones are achieved. In essence, the gist is "let the dev team dev", because I think the milestones are getting relatively more difficult to achieve compared to the first months of existence, where im assuming things were relatively easier, but Im just making this stuff up. I'm trying to compile a weekly report by keeping an eye on the IRC channel and collecting useful thread posts. So, since last monday, when I got this idea, here are some notable developments and posts that I've collected: -------- "we're remerging/updating daemonize, working on RPC -> IPC (via 0MQ), beginning the refactor/extrapolation to libraries, and working on non-64-bit comparability. This is all directly related to the GUI effort" There are apparently two mul128 implementations (whatever that is); fluffy was looking for insight into which one should be kept There was general chatter on the non-dev monero channel about creating a faucet. And my LMDB version of bitmonerod is still running fine (3 weeks now?) ----------- with the blessing of the dev team (and/or the community, whatever), I could deidentify stuff and try to make a nice little published package. Be the "reporter" of XMR based on what I come across. Won't be as pretty as fluffy's.

absolutely optimal in view of this trojan horse in bitcoin community like coinbase... http://cointelegraph.com/news/113403/5-reasons-to-drop-coinbase-like-a-hot-potato-op-edon another note masternode is such a flawed design from the start that eventually it will serve its purpose in the end and that would be the demise of darkcoin... Any particular computer server hosting a crypto-currency ledger or register could be destroyed, but the existence of the currency would continue to reside on other servers all over the world and could quickly be replicated. It is impossible to destroy a crypto-currency by attacking any single node or group of nodes. Does this sounds familiar? I don't think anyone can really expect the masternodes or any form of centralized system be resilient for when people will really need it, I rest my case. http://www.businessinsider.com/bitcoin-has-many-problems-its-funding-of-isis-is-one-of-them-2015-2Monero is so much more optimal than any other crypto right now.

Hi guys, Just a little side project I've put together (the current Monero price in various fiat currencies, based on market depth and the BitPay rates) You can access it at https://MoneroPric.es (such domain hack, much clever, wow) JSON rates are at: https://moneropric.es/fiat.jsonTo go straight to a specific fiat currency (default is USD) you can just append it to the URL, eg. https://moneropric.es/EUR or https://moneropric.es/ZAR etc. I am grabbing price history, and when I get a chance I will add graphs etc.

Nevertheless, I think we should just try it. There is no harm in just asking.

LMDB implementation first, cause of the performance. No use in releasing a GUI to better UX when the deamon gobbles up RAM like an obese at maccy D. In case anyone is wondering, the full URI spec is here: http://monero.wikia.com/wiki/URI_formattingThat wikia also has the new RPC API spec, if anyone wants to modify / add before it gets ratified in the coming months. Same goes for the URI format.
