As a fellow newcomer to Monero, I welcome your views Many in the old guard are quite hurt now. They believed in Monero so much as to throw the risk management out of the window in investing. Some stuff is progressing more slowly than anticipated and Bitcoin price is not at $5,000 as it "should" be. Wealth is decimated and feelings also. A newcomer can now make incredible bargains. When I started in May, the price was between 0.002-0.010 and volumes were so small that acquiring a BTC100 stash took several weeks. At these prices, not only is BTC100 much less, also you get more XMR as for you ,darkcoin can not be the rival of monero .i advise counterparty will do some fuss here .but,i still believe in monero

Last 24 hours 120k Moneros was traded. That can be compared with best days. When price was 3 times higher that was 500 btc.
But no matter the price and reward decreasing, Hash rate is still over 15 MH/s, what is more than half of the maximum ever.
After seeing emission rate, everyone was able to see that there was tiny chance that Monero would gain nice price till this end of year and those low chance was for long time actually on sight. But then also it was seen there is tiny chance that price would not be much higher at end of next year. At some point next year it will just happen the Monero hunger. When? Who knows.

I would personally love a (temptative) development road map. Doesn't need to be very precise, but I am sure the devs have some rough goals in terms of timing, and it would be very positive to know them. Most, if not all "Roadmaps" by coins so far have been nothing but promises; we aren't a fan of that. The missives state what we work on and also what comes next, giving timelines helps no one. I didn't mean the usual "Pump roadmap" you can see in most of the alts. I hope you're not fan of that, neither I am. But something much more general would be useful, here I disagree with you that it helps no one. If we want an economy to build around, boosted by technical projects, there got to be a little bit of info for them, even if completely indicative. For instance knowing a rough schedule for the multisig implementation is useful to develop services that might use it. A rough schedule can be just "probably closer to 6 months than to 2 months". The community is smart enough to know it's all temptative, you shouldn't be scared to say what are your feelings. The core team cannot develop an entire ecosystem, you got to give a minimal info to potential innovators around you at one point.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

Big thanks to all responsible for mymonero.com. It's a great service for the community.
One question though:
If for some reason mymonero.com stops working, what would be the procedure for importing private key into simplewallet ? I guess private key is called "spend" key in mymonero.com ? Also there is "view" key. What is that?

Put your Spend, View, and Public key in an encrypted document with a strong password. The view key allows you to let someone else view your balance without giving them your spend key. Cryptography is cool.

Cryptography is cool. Already did that, of course. But I was wondering if site goes offline for some reason and I need to fallback to simplewallet again, what would I need to do in order to import my key ("spend key" I guess?) back into simplewallet ? Or is it maybe login key (word sequence) enough to recover whole wallet ? Can I start simplewallet with those as starting arguments?

Is there a list or directory of businesses using Monero? I would like to understand business demand for the currency. Thank you!

This would be a big win for XMR, in my opinion, would be translation and additional interest to non-English communities

What would happen if at this price someone sell like 2000 XMR? On Polo, it would go to 0.00134111 based on the current orderbook. Use the estimate trading feature on bitcoinwisdom to show the effect.

WTF with the price?
Major support at 150000 satoshis pulled. Monero is behind BitcoinDark in market cap. Check www.coinmarketcap.comBehind in price does not equal being behind. Why are you fighting? Dark and Monero arent enemies ah, I see. My sig gave you the implication that i was fighting, when my comment was in support of XMR. I'll remember to add an extra sentence or two to explain myself better next time.

I don't care much about price at the moment. XMR is not a pump and dump coin. Short-term high price solves nothing. What I care about is development. At least for now. I haven't sold any coin that I mined

Dark and Monero arent enemies
They are, however, competitors for dominance of the most defensible liquidity niche in all of crypto. Liquidity points to drk. Security points to xmr. bitcoinwisdom shows a similar volume for both, so i wouldnt say drk is more liquid than xmr Correct.

Hi guys - just a quick update, we had the Missive up earlier on forum.monero.cc, but pulled it down because of a breaking bug in the Windows 0.8.8.5 builds ( OS X, Linux, and FreeBSD are all fine). We're diagnosing and fixing, and will be putting it back up as soon as it's fixed:)

Or is it maybe login key (word sequence) enough to recover whole wallet ? Can I start simplewallet with those as starting arguments?
In theory the login (seed words) should be enough to recover the whole wallet (once the shorter seed format is fixed), but printing out the whole page and storing it in a safe place is a good idea anyway.

Major support at 150000 satoshis pulled. Monero is behind BitcoinDark in market cap. Check www.coinmarketcap.comBehind in price does not equal being behind. It's still good to look at to keep us honest, though, regardless of whatever we *think* our long term fundamental advantages are. Monero definitely has a perception problem from many investors' points of view at the moment. I can understand your sentiment, but I ask: How can you single-handedly perceive that many investors' points of view reflect a problem with Monero's perception? Simply because we know that big money is flowing into various cryptocurrency projects right now, and they just aren't choosing Monero.
