Is there even another altcoin with similar distribution like clams where I could get some coins just by owning some Bitcoin in the past?

I know it could not be better altcoin because highly reputable dooglus running just dice making clam very usefull altcoin, but just curious if I could make something out of it to be honest.

I dont think so and I dont think there should be one. As much I like CLAM PoS and Just Dice, I also HATE the possibility of a new digger waiting around the corner.

It's been a while since I posted a digging chart. Notice how little digging there has been recently:

Oddly, I think it is interesting (if likely coincidental) that dig coin creation seems to correlate almost 1:1 positively with claim inflation - though staggered.

It's been a while since I posted a digging chart. Notice how little digging there has been recently:

My opinion is that digging is largely predictable. Digging will increase when the price reaches new highs, as people who know they have CLAMs to dig but never bothered are motivated into action and the attention from the price increase informs more people about the CLAMs they didn't know they had, then level off.

The last "big dig" was after the large price increase. I predicted at the time that there would be relatively little digging after that digger finished unless the price recovered and once again began to make new highs.

This has not be tested statistically and probably can't be because the data set is too small.

The last "big dig" was after the large price increase.

So,  a slow, gradual increase in price would be best.  I would think.

(Theory being that over time, maybe some 'would be' diggers would just completely forget about clam altogether.)

A few months ago I noticed that the Just-Dice staking wallet was performing very poorly, spending long periods stuck waiting for the hard drive. My 'fix' was to move all the staking coins to a new address in a new wallet.

That worked, until now...

It's happening again, and so I'm 'fixing' it the same way.

Here's the new address:

I remember last time the chart looked similarly weird, and presstab commented saying he should fix it. Smiley

Just-Dice won't be staking much for the next 4 hours while the coins settle in at their new address, so the difficulty should drop significantly. Easy staking for everyone else - enjoy! Smiley

Edit: it looks like the last time it happened was back at the start of April:

Edit: here's a close-up of the last few days. It looks like the staking wallet has been performing poorly since late Saturday, causing the difficulty to halve. The sheer drop at the end is a result of me moving the coins to a new address. It will take 4 hours until those coins start staking again. The move started at 9pm UTC, so JD will start trying to stake again around 1am UTC, or 6pm Pacific, or in about an hour and a half from the date of this edit...

Edit2: back to normal:

That's harder to predict. As the price reaches new highs more people who previous didn't care are motivated to dig. If this is a diverse group of people then a slow rise would likely lead to steady digging. But there can be potential "big digs" where one person makes a decision to empty a huge wallet or a set of wallets. There is no way to know when any particular person might be motivated.

The other thing that happens is the supply naturally increases over time due to staking. So the later a dig occurs, the smaller it is in relative terms. In effect there is already a slow expiration of digging built into the current rules.

I find the recent price fall more worrying that the previous 'big digger' price fall.
This time there is no real reason for the fall, other than that people divesting.  I have a bit of a safe haven theory, which would have CLAMs rising now that Bitcoin and the new alts are starting to fall, we will see but I think CLAM should get back to at least 0.002 in the near future, if only because there is no reason why it fell from 0.002 a few weeks ago!!

As it was mentioned in past by others diggers may come when price is higher so it would be worth to move the coins.

The cause is the same - too big size of a wallet ? Any plan to solve this issue in future before it actually happens next time ? I know it dont cost too much as just dice is dominant staker with above 80%, but still...

What issue are you talking about? I don't think I understand you. What might actually happen next time?

Edit: sorry, I didn't notice you had quoted me. The problem is I'm not able to reproduce the problem easily. When staking is going slow I'm in a hurry to fix the problem, but then it's hard to reproduce it to debug it. I guess I need to do the work on a testnet or a disconnected rolled-back fork of the main chain.

Long Live the Great Clam.

Sometimes people complain that they've been staking for a long time and not got any stakes yet.

Since I made the new Just-Dice staking wallet I've been watching to see how it performs, staking wise.

I found there's huge variance. I made around 13000 outputs of size 100 CLAMs, and set them to split into 25 CLAM outputs when they stake.

Some outputs have staked incredibly well. This one staked 5 times in 8 days, despite only being worth 26 to 30 CLAMs for most of that time:

Quote
84d121      -> 100 CLAM   1044120 (2016-06-21 22:14:24)
cbdfb7  100 ->  26 CLAM   1045413 (2016-06-22 18:53:20)
a799ea   26 ->  27 CLAM   1050053 (2016-06-26 00:42:40)
c6709f   27 ->  28 CLAM   1050991 (2016-06-26 16:32:00)
00d648   28 ->  29 CLAM   1052089 (2016-06-27 11:02:40)
e58636   29 ->  30 CLAM   1054628 (2016-06-29 05:42:24)

Whereas none of the 146 inputs to 462d2e worth a total of 14600 CLAMs staked at all in 9 days. I sent them all back to the hot wallet to top it up after a few large withdrawals.
