I am staking 12.000 clams from desktop wallet. Time expected to earn 1 clam is 1 hour (says wallet) But I am not getting more than 5-8 each day.
Is that ok.

Not sure where that calculation comes from but it isn't correct.

You are staking 12k claims. The reward per staked block is 1 clam. If you were to get one block every hour that would be 1/60 of the total, so by simple math the the network total staked would be 720k. That's off by half or more.

IMO you should never trust a wallets numbers.  Bitcoin wallet recommends like 2x-10x the needed fee to push a transaction too.

FreeBitcoins.com rocket game is staking around 13,000 CLAM atm.  We just crossed 100 blocks staked last night.

The reason our orphan count was so high was due to our CLAM client not communicating with peers properly and JD beating us because of our error.  It's been fixed though.

I would imagine our orphan count stays pretty low on our way to 1000 blocks.

CLAM is a POS coin, so i think a lot of people keep the coins staking in a wallet instead of locked in a order inside an exchange. But they will probably put it to sell if the price goes up a lot, as happened before. JDice wallets were more than 70% of the network, but dropped to aprox. 35-40% after a bullrun months ago.

Don't see what this has to do with buy orders on an exchange since those would normally be ETH and BTC, rather than CLAMS for sale.  I can see how what you applies only for selling clams.

I tought you where talking about the selling orders. Yeah, the buy orders are relatively small but still are greater than many coins in poloniex. Almost any coin with low volume has less buy orders, and coins like Peercoin for example have higher volume but less buy orders. But the number of buy orders is not so important, more important than this is the speed that they get replaced in case someone dump or pump it. At an aprox. 500k usd of trade volume per day, CLAM is not so bad after all: Thats close to 10% of all the coins being bought or sold everyday.
But if you are in a hurry and need to sell a big chunk of coins right now, if you sell for example 0,5% of all the supply (32k dollars), the price will drop aprox. 15%. Not really good, i admit: But after you sold, probably the market will recover a little after the arbitrage bots start working to balance the price in all the exchanges, and the difference can be less than 15%

I used to buy clams to play at one of the gambling sites specifically for clams. Clam has a high exchange rate to btc. Therefore I like to buy it for gambling

Yeah, I forgot to add - ALWAYS check the stuff that you download for viruses!

I think he means that an unknown blockchain snapshot could be manipulated to follow a wrong fork. I dont know if there is a way to check if a snapshot is correct, so i always advise against using one.
Someone is working in a new wallet after all, so the sync can be a lot faster than it is currently and snapshots wold not be necessary.
Talking about that, what happened to the new wallet? Any news?
