Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

My small rig.  5870 on a Gigabyte M68MT-D3p The cut-off bottles are there as ducting to direct cool air in from the front (1x80mm ingress) and hot air out (120mm). I keep the side panels closed and this ducting reduces the graphics temp by 1 degC. $0 and 20mins of cut and trial and cut. I was trying to use the PCIE-1x with an extension to plug in another 5870 but I cannot get any response with 'lspci -v' or 'aticonfig --list-adaptors'. I even did the wire routing as mentioned here: http://blog.zorinaq.com/?e=42By connecting B17 pin to ground. No luck. |

  I set this up yesterday. I have 3 Raedon 5850s, but one one is set up so far. I was lucky, got all of the cards for $170 each. The most expensive part was the power supply, at $250. I'm going to set this up so I can control it from my mac, so I won't need the display, keyboard, or mouse. It also has no disk, I'm running it from an 8GB thumb drive. I should get about 1 ghash when it's ready, which is pretty darn good. |

Is that Ubuntu with persistence or did you install straight to the thumb drive? I can confirm that once you have tweaked the cards you should get up to and a bit over 1 Ghash/s as well. |

Awesome. I installed Ubuntu straight from the thumb drive. I don't know what Ubuntu with persistence is.
Essentially allows changes to persist across reboots on a LiveCD type installation on a thumb drive. Ah perfect! Straightforward tut. Thanks |
