Left : 2 x 6950 unlocked @ 915 gpu = 393 Mhash each
Right : 2 x 6950 unlocked @ 915 gpu + 1 x 6970 = 391 Mhash each

inspiring @darkpandora Shocked
I'm currently researching cooling solutions for my rig:
http://www.anty.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/miner1-topview.jpg
That's the temporary solution:
http://www.anty.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/miner1-temp-cooling.jpg
Not very good looking, but the trash bag cools about 10°C more than the bag-less version.

I blogged some more information about this rig on anty.info.

darkpandora, are you for real? lol.  All that for 2 cards? i was expecting a closet of 50+ cards.

yes i am. those cards are not some cheap ati 5xxx cards, they are 6990 that cost 5000 norwegian krones each and those cards give me 1670 Mhash/s.
and by the way, good luck keeping 50 cards overclocked and cool in a closet at that size.

inspiring @darkpandora Shocked

thanks... you should put whole on the case so the heat goes out and not cycle inside the case. and 1 powerful fan like mine is enough to get cool air from outside...

I am working on building a good Ubuntu Live ATI ISO file today in an attempt to eliminate all of the hard drives by using USB thumb drives, that'll save on electricity as well as hardware costs going forward.

Hi xanadu,
I'm interested in using this myself as I also need to cut power costs. If this ISO is ready and contains a miner I can use such as GUIminer,or the equivalent (GUI),then can I please DL it from a link?

Thank you.

1 powerful fan like mine is enough to get cool air from outside...
Your fan has an insane CFM. It sucks more than 7m³/minute through that 120x120 hole.
Sadly I can't find it anywhere in Europe for normal price. Will do more research, though Smiley
Where did you get it and what did you pay?

that guy from rus
here is 60 5770

Ummm I really cant think of anything worse to place boards on..  (Other than metal..)

wow... get a dehumidfier in there quick before a cat walks through the room zapping boards...

Styrofoam, paper, clothing, hair plastic bags...those are about the worst static generators...also to people who run these things on static bags...they are conductive (otherwise, they wouldn't form a Faraday cage).

what cards are that and what are the temps of the top one and the three in the airtunnel while mining?

I have the same tower, but not installed the tunnel yet and have only 3 cards (with 1 slot free in between)

It's 4x5850.

Top one runs 820/300, 90% Fan, 75°C
The others run 900/300. The two in the middle also 90% Fan, 74-75°C. The bottom one runs at 50% Fan, 67°C.

After some research, I think these temperatures should be low enough to not cause serious trouble in the long term.

do you have a fan in the airtunnel installed?

those fan speeds are insanely high, i have a 5870 at 960/300 at 55% Fan and 69.5°C and 2x 6870 at 1000/300, 60% and 74°C running... don't even want to know how much noise your rig makes!

You have HAF-X closed and with the side-fan activated?

if this is the case, 4-card setups will drop of my list (noise level)

it's in my basement, so I don't care about noise. but yes, you would not want this rig in your office.

It looks to me that you're blowing air in the evacuation vent from the video cards. Can't see how that's doing much good. Turn the fans around to pull hot air away and I'm 100% sure you'll get better temps.

Graphics cards suck air in the fan, then blow it out through the heat sink in all directions, so with the big fans they get fresh air as inatke, and the exhaust is blow away

Temps never hit above 75, with modest overclock

I believe there are 2 kinds of fans, the normal everyday fans and the turbine kind like you have on the cards.
The normal fans blow in every direction, but the turbines take it from one side and push it out to the other. The turbines take air from inside the case and blow it out towards where your monitors plug into.

I think in your setup you are blowing the hot air coming out back to the cards.

Put your hand where you would plug your monitor in, you will feel the hot air coming out. Or try it with a lit cigarette, and see where the smoke is being sucked in...

that's correct the setup in the picture has the table fans on the WRONG side.  I have the same card design, it pulls the air in from the two red vents in the back and bunch small vents on the top, then blow the hotair out in the front where the monitor plugs are. This can be easily verified by put your hand on all sides, you will feel all the hotair coming out on the monitor plug side and nothing on the back or side.  So the best cooling is to follow its wind tunnel design, blow the fan directly in the back where the air intake, and optionally put a fan on top and blow directly downward into the top vents.  In the picture you are blowing the hotair coming out back into the wind tunnel.

Yes, but with the amount he's making mining bitcoins he shouldn't have a problem with the reduced lifespan.
