715Gh/s Butterflylabs Singles and Jalapeño CGminer RIG What is the wall of green things behind the miners?

"That which you call your soul or spirit is your consciousness, and that which you call 'free will' is your mind's freedom to think or not, the only will you have, your only freedom, the choice that controls all the choices you make and determines your life and your character."

715Gh/s Butterflylabs Singles and Jalapeño CGminer RIG What is the wall of green things behind the miners? I believe it's something called "the Outside". I always thought it was just a legend but a few miners have rumored to have returned from it unscathed. (Seriously, it looks like that's an outside window with pull down metal security curtain in the closed position... The green stuff is actually sunlight flowing through).

Passive cooling on cards?!
Huh? Mine are not passive cooled, simply sapphire r9 280x "dual-x" cards. I have to run the fans at 100% to keep them at ~75c at 1080/1500 I13. I plan on burning the fans out, because they will at 100%, and replacing with watercooling. Lots of the non-ref 280x cards are the same non-ref design, kinda hoping someone comes out with a new block, against all odds. Those Dual-X coolers are terrible for mining and barely cut it when gaming. To make matters worse, the memory thermal pad(s) on my 7870xt's was keeping the hsf from sitting flush with the chip. Yeah, not at all impressed. I wasn't expecting much though, these things run stupid hot. I bought the cheapest expecting to watercool I plan on taking these apart to measure some stuff soon, Kinda curious if redoing them might make them a few degrees cooler. I think I can make a heatkiller block fit with some slight modification though, if that doesn't work. Passive cooling on cards?!

My power supply has a load meter built in, says it runs around 700W. I'm guessing these cards are using around 250-275 of that.

It doesn't need to be pretty...fairly efficient with cold room temps. Anyone know how much power the stock AMD fans draw when you wind them up to 5K rpm?

Bought a Asus R9 280X DCII, it is huge and the coolest card available..

Bought a Asus R9 280X DCII, it is huge and the coolest card available.. I'm confused by what you are saying here. You were able to mine on a DCII with fan speed at idle? I find that exceptionally hard to believe. Regardless, I bought this card to watercool. It makes absolutely no sense to buy a custom non-refrence cooler just to take it off and throw it away. Two of those ridiculously huge cards wouldn't even fit in my case anyway, and they'd never fit in a quadfire setup like my 4x7970 rig. I'd avoid buying those for mining on that reason alone.

Took the arctic freezer pro off of my BE in order to make it look like a mini blade! It sits on top of this, (old pic, more fans and closed case now) The back of one of my GPUs looked like this after a capacitor randomly fired a stream of sparks at me and burst into flames.
