pilotchup,Golden 280X's? Or lazy 290's? If they're 290's, I gather you've got them tuned for efficiency/lower temps instead of all-out hashrate?

These are 100% no 280x.
Fan rpm > 4500 = ref design which tells me --> 290/290x.
Cheers

Yeah, I checked out pilotchup's other posts and you're right, they're reference 290's. My Gigabyte GTX670 OC (WF3 fans) has a max fan speed of 4650RPM, that's why I was thinking they might be 7970/280X's (with the same WF3 cooler).

She's dead. I gave the single card that was in there to some dudes at the prague hackerspace brmlab in late 2011. They used it for some mining and gsm and other cracking jobs until it died. Met one of the guys at CCC couple weeks ago. Was sad to hear of the cards demise.

Nice design. But I hope you are not stealing your employer's electricity, that would be just asking for trouble...

Nice design. But I hope you are not stealing your employer's electricity, that would be just asking for trouble... My electrical usage is allowed. I just don't want expensive hardware hanging out in the open. I'm not going to build a farm at work, lol. This is a test rig to check the viability of the whole thing. Being as I'm there 6-7 days a week it made sense to put it where I am the most. I have a much larger installation pending for the house.

I did the very same thing at my work around a year or so back, it was great experience for the farm I'm running now. It's a very good thing you've hid it, and if you haven't already I would not tell your coworkers what exactly it is you are doing. In a year, they may just be jealous haters, saying you've got preferential treatment... Here is 1/3 of my farm that I've managed to get deployed so far. My rigs love the environment, it stays a steady 60 degrees or so, and my cards stay around 65-70c at the most. There are 12 290's, 6 280x, and 6 7950 in this picture. Not shown are 12 more 290s I am "proving out" at home, as well as a few other misc cards. My net hash rate is ~30M

No fun at all

No fun at all That's hilarious! I've toyed with the idea of ditching a few USB miners around my office hooked up to Raspberry Pi, this was a few months ago. Never had the balls to do it though, work for a big company in a job I like and just not worth the risk of them launching an Agent Smith crew of IT guys on me...

pilotchup,Golden 280X's? Or lazy 290's? If they're 290's, I gather you've got them tuned for efficiency/lower temps instead of all-out hashrate? Sorry I didn't leave a comment with the picture. Posted it right as we were leaving the house. They are indeed 290's. Just got them operational and was having a problem where GPU2 would report SICK/DEAD after 10 minutes of mining so I took the settings way down to see if that was the culprit. So yes, they are lazy 290's! Looking forward to tune them soon. These are water cooled as well, it isn't that high performance of a water cooled system (since I didn't want to spend a ton of money in that), which is why the temps are in the 60s. Therefore, that RPM you see is not fan RPM but my two pumps' RPM. I made a custom cable to connect the tach of my pumps to the sensor on the GPU that is for the fan. Then I wrote a program using cgminer API to auto-shutdown the computer if that RPM falls out of acceptable limits (aka pump failure). Going to write a guide soon on how to get 6 R9 290s working, since I had a helluva time getting it to work. There really isn't much info out there on how to get that many working. Cheers! p.s. that is fastcoin solo mining, was just experimenting to see how solo mining works.

Just ordered a few more to fill out the hub (antminers) Its basically a USB Fan fully sealed at the front so all the air goes down a 2 ltr coke bottle with the top and bottom sealed off Basically made a homemade ghetto wind tunnel Looks like a damn good idea to me. One thing i got to say is there are some cool cooling ideas here,..
