how much does it cost to host something like that at a data center?

ALOT, but i believe he owns the place so I don't own it, but I have good connections :-) PM me if you're looking for DC space, and I can introduce you to my connections :-D I did PM you about the cost of DC and help finding a DC in NJ, would appreciate if you could tell us how much it cost you to rent the DC, doesn't have to be exact, range would be great and the power cost also. I have 6 S1's but looking to get lot more machines in the near future and invest substantial amount of funds to do this and would appreciate your input, We have a commercial building that we own and the basement is about 1000 sq ft and I am thinking about converting it into a DC but just wondering if it's cheaper to rent before I spend lot of money adding additional power, cooling, racks etc. thank you

Install a few L6-30 circuits (220V, 30A) with server PDUs so that everything is a bit more efficient on a higher voltage. throw in some shelving units ($50-75 will get you a nice steel rack with wooden shelves that can handle >2000lbs) and make sure there is sufficient airflow/AC capacity. unless you know the DC owner, you would be looking at about $300-$500 per rack/month not counting in the costs of power and cooling (which would be about the same as cooling and powering yourself). also gives you a bit more freedom to use more space and not have to jam things tightly into racks

Found this pretty different method for hosting S1 mounting wise i considered something like that, but i dont know why the airflow is pointed down - thats the exact opposite of the 'heat rises' concept that would make blowing all the hot air upwards more effective

I guess it's easier to bolt them on the non fan end and expensive heavy hardware is best not left hanging.

If you look closely, those fans are facing with the airflow up and out. You can tell by seeing the crossbars that connect the fan motor to the housing which is usually on the outlet side.
So those are probably second fans with the factory default fans on the bottom. They are situated the "right way".

One of the best scenes ever. My brains are melting into my FEET!!!! But in fluid dynamics like water or air, it is always better to pull than to push. Pushing causes turbulence when you hit an obstruction. Also causes noise. C
